As a registered nurse with over 23 years of experience, I can honestly say I feel lucky to be a patient here. After a long stretch of confusion and uncertainty, they helped us finally get the right diagnoses and guided us through a really tough recovery period with so much care and patience. We first met Andrea, who is an absolute powerhouse of information. She's smart, direct, and exactly who you want at the start of a journey like this. She recommended we work with Abbi. Abbi has been a literal angel on our path to recovery. She's so smart, kind, responsive, encouraging, and incredibly thoughtful. Every time we hit a bump in the road, she's had an answer ready and a calm confidence that made everything feel manageable again. I can't recommend this team enough. They've changed our lives, and we're so grateful for everything they've done. Thank you all.

I worked with Brooke Goldstein for several months in 2020. It was a fantastic experience and…read moreBrooke was top notch. In late October 2022 I emailed and called to schedule a refresher session. I waited three weeks for a response and was told Brooke no longer works here. I was told that I would need to be seen by another clinician for an evaluation. I was offered an appointment for early December. However, I never received a confirmation or telehealth link for that appointment. When I contacted the office on 11/30 to inquire about the logistics for the appointment, it would no longer work. I was offered another appointment on January 5. Again, I received no confirmation and no telehealth link. I emailed and called the office on January 5 and have yet to receive communication from them. Needless to say, my January 5 appointment did not happen. So, what should have been a simple refresher session has turned into three months of me trying to secure an appointment. Additionally, all communication has been via email since no one ever answers the office phone or returns calls. I am very disappointed in my current experience with this office. It should not be this much of a process to get an appointment, particularly as an established patient. I am not sure what has happened in the past year, but things clearly went downhill quickly. If you have other options for providers, you should pursue them first. Update: It's is now 1/16 and I have heard nothing from the office about the fact that they blew off my appointment. No response to my emails or voice mails. So, they clearly are not concerned about their patients.

We brought our 2.5 year old to see Mandy and were with her for approximately 1.5 years. Mandy…read moreprovided just the right advice as well as engagement for our child (and as new parents, her experienced guidance and suggestions throughout also gave us peace of mind). Our toddler at the time was very shy, so her approach of play-based speech therapy was the ideal fit for a shy kiddo. He looked forward to sessions and didn't realize it was "work", but instead saw it as a fun activity where he was able to play with a variety of toys with an energetic playmate. I don't see how Mandy has the energy to play with the little ones all day, but she does--and really seems to enjoy it. The play/session environment is comfortable, welcoming, clean, and has a toy store's worth of different toys (and Mandy is always trying out new ones for the repertoire). Mandy immediately identified a structural issue that a previous formal evaluation from another speech therapist missed. Our child progressed wonderfully and is now outgoing, able to express himself clearly and with a range of vocabulary and sentence structures, and is doing advanced language and verbal work at school. We are very satisfied and highly recommend Bethesda Speech for Kids and Mandy.

Mandy has made an enormous difference in the life of my 9yo. My son has been in and out of various…read morespeech pathologist's offices since he was 4, and I could never hear or see a measurable difference in his speech until we found Mandy. The difference in a year with her is greater by far than the difference in 5 years with everyone else combined. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with her. She is incredibly effective as a speech pathologist, and the results are really clear. Even more than that, she is flexible, patient, adaptive and works with my son rather than at him. Her humor shines through steadily, and she is very kind, and my son can sense that and relaxes with her. She has specific, targeted exercises and games she goes through with him - he has only begun to figure out that the games are work - and gives us home practice in such a way that he knows what he needs to be doing and how to do it. My son can be a handful - so she works in movement breaks and tunes the games to his interests and approaches it with humor that makes him feel welcome. She gives prizes after so many stickers earned - set at a reasonable, attainable pace - and I noticed that, having figured out my son liked puzzles and stuffed animals, that the prizes being offered have quietly become things he enjoys. He vibrates for the opportunity to win them. Even the games have become quietly tuned to his needs and preferences; I've never seen so many games of Memory played. My son invented his own version of Go Fish with the articulation cards, and she went so far as to write down the rules so they could play it again. Seriously, she is *amazing*. As a note: my son went from throwing tantrums at the very idea of speech to cheerfully practicing at home and happily showing up to his speech therapy. Because she praises him for his effort and his progress and specifically what he is doing right, he can aim for that specific thing again and *believes her* when she tells him he's working and she can tell. I cannot tell you what a difference that has made. Most importantly, my son went, in less than a year, from being unintelligible unless someone had known him for years, to being a confident, talkative, outgoing kid with a lot to say. A few months in with Mandy, I stopped having to 'translate' for him. Months ago, he suddenly started talking non stop, because he could be understood and heard and participate. Before that, he only spoke that much with me, and he chose the most efficient script to short hand what he wanted to communicate, as speaking was tedious and hard work and he might have to repeat himself five times. Now, he is speaking happily and with assurance with his friends and with his teachers, and does not hesitate to step up and speak when called upon to do so. Mandy has made SUCH a difference in his life, and I am forever grateful. She is worth every penny and moment of time. I highly recommend her; you won't find a better speech pathologist.

My life is better for it. I recommend everyone with any physical discomfort or problems at all to see her once and just see what happens. I came here and was surprised by the "average" review because Agnes is definitely the best PT I've ever seen. She's a manual PT, meaning she will put your alignment back in place and get the knots out. I started seeing her through word of mouth, so I never found her online. She fixes your shit and has a real knack for figuring things out. If you don't have poor habits your problem can be fixed in one session. The habits can take longer to correct, but she identified what I needed to do to fix my discomfort and pain throughout my body. It takes genuine work and effort sometimes, but her methods are more concrete and make more sense than other PTs I've gone to. Other PTs have come close, but never fixed my alignment in the session and did not give me a vision. I was regularly discouraged. I'm 27 and other practitioners were surprised how much discomfort I was in, considering I'm so young, but Agnes knew immediately that I was doing certain things to create the muscle weaknesses I had and was able to tell me about them. I went to chiropractic care for years with minimal to 0 change. I know it's a personal journey figuring out what you and your body needs to feel it's best, but I think everyone should try Agnes first.

Dr Maroof actually truly LISTENS and we have a MUTUAL TRUST, something that I couldn't find before and it was just beyond awful, tortuous. I am so lucky to have her as my physician. I went through multiple before who caused a lot more harm to me than good, where I even had went inpatient due to treatment medications etc. Never has Dr Maroof caused any harm to me at all. I know she truly CARES and I feel like I finally have someone on my side. That has made all the difference in my health and recovery. I am always able to see her as soon as I need to, even often times I have seen her next day when I was really in a spot. I literally CRIED the first time I saw her out of utter RELIEF because I had finally gotten into the room with a doctor who empathized with me and understood I needed help so badly and she was willing to use current evidence based practice and her own intelligence and excellent experience to help me. Just knowing Dr Maroof exists gives me HOPE for myself, this world, and mental health/addiction treatment in general.
