All of the bad reviews are related to insurance issues, not the work done. I think that's important to note. Before I started seeing Agnes at this practice I had given up. My life is better for it. I recommend everyone with any physical discomfort or problems at all to see her once and just see what happens. I came here and was surprised by the "average" review because Agnes is definitely the best PT I've ever seen. She's a manual PT, meaning she will put your alignment back in place and get the knots out. I started seeing her through word of mouth, so I never found her online. She fixes your shit and has a real knack for figuring things out. If you don't have poor habits your problem can be fixed in one session. The habits can take longer to correct, but she identified what I needed to do to fix my discomfort and pain throughout my body. It takes genuine work and effort sometimes, but her methods are more concrete and make more sense than other PTs I've gone to. Other PTs have come close, but never fixed my alignment in the session and did not give me a vision. I was regularly discouraged. I'm 27 and other practitioners were surprised how much discomfort I was in, considering I'm so young, but Agnes knew immediately that I was doing certain things to create the muscle weaknesses I had and was able to tell me about them. I went to chiropractic care for years with minimal to 0 change. I know it's a personal journey figuring out what you and your body needs to feel it's best, but I think everyone should try Agnes first. read more

I would feel confident if I ever had to return to the hands of Mike, Agnes, or Doug. Their supporting team members are friendly and keen on attending to your comfort (pillows, blanket, water); shout-outs to the awesomeness of Greg, Lori, and interns Gordon and Clark! I was only ever in as much pain as needed for progress, and my endless well of healing questions was fielded with deftness. I sincerely doubt my range of motion would have improved further elsewhere. Posh equipment, mostly non-private area, two telly screens pre-expansion, nice window view in the original office, shared bathrooms down the hallway. Automated call confirmations of appointments. I was referred here by my GP and it was a convenient location for me. The therapist I saw was good. My issue with kinesis is they would schedule the maximum amount of patients at the same time which then resulted in me sitting around waiting for the therapist between each exercise. Sometimes the therapist would have the assistant work with me but he was always running around like a chicken with his head cut off. My appointments usually lasted for an hour and a half because of how much waiting I did. Additionally, I took issue with the front of office staff. They seemed to have no idea what they were doing and would reschedule or cancel appointments without speaking to me first. I would give more stars if it was just for the therapist but the overall business practices of this office deserve one star. read more

Kinesis, and Agnes in particular, were recommended to me by my GP Dr. Anders. I saw him concerning an occipital nerve impingment that was causing searing pain to the top of my head. Agnes was everything that was promised. The pain was gone after one visit. The tightness was gone after 4. And I am now able to exercise like I was before my injury. I have been to several other PT outfits in the area and this one is definitely the best that I have seen. read more

A few of the physical therapists employed at kinesis physical therapy are amazing! HOWEVER be warned The BILLING PRACTICES of this company are shady and DEPLORABLE. After setting an arbitrary amount of payment due prior to each appointment (regardless of the insurance companies guidelines) they successfully managed to collect an excess of $800.00 from my personal account. Then to add insult to injury, I was still required to pay more money upon arrival for each appointment. When I asked to speak with the manager (AGNES) about the overpayment for services to date (Per my insurance company and EOB) not only did she (AGNES) refuse to have a conversation with me but she (AGNES) refused service unless I continued to pay more money. The manager (AGNES) also refused to document the refusal of service in writing. After hundreds of dollars in over payments The manager (AGNES) also refuses to reimburse me for over payments. Apparently, they make surplus income by cheating honest, hardworking individuals out of money, refusing service when additional monies cannot be collected, and refusing to give refunds. read more

Maria Agnes Salgado is hands-down the best physical therapist I have ever seen. She's extremely experienced and can tell with a glance if you're out of alignment. She's very hands-on with her work --some places will depend more on machines to do the work but she spends more time per patient than any other therapist I have seen. She also has a great bedside manner, really listens and seems to remember the smallest details. Despite how many patients she sees a day, she remembers the details of my case and can tell improvement by comparing it to the previous visit without even looking at notes. Note that she has strong hands and is not afraid to do the work needed to get out a huge knot and this can be painful. But it is making a big difference in the speed of my recovery. The rest of the staff is wonderful -- very personable and conscientious and the overall atmosphere is very welcoming and warm. read more

For 13 years, I had worked with owner/therapist Agnes of Kinesis Physical Therapy. While she is a good physical therapist, her business practices are not. In October 2017, I experienced billing irregularities with her. Irregularities is a kind term; in fact, she was violating her Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP (BCBS) contract. As a preferred provider with BCBS, she was obligated to 1) accept my benefits, 2) charge no up-front fee, and 3) not request that members submit their own paperwork for reimbursement. I reported the problem to BCBS which, in turn, tried many, many times to talk with her. She refused to take or return their calls until BCBS required her to talk with a BCBS Field Representative three months later. BCBS confirmed to her that she was violating her contract. She then reimbursed the $800 she had collected improperly and in retribution refused any further treatment to me. I have found an equally skilled PT group that knows how to handle the insurance end of a medical practice. Kinesis Physical Therapy is a new, ultra modern facility with top-of-the-line equipment. The physical therapists are generally good. However, equipment and personnel don't count if the facility refuses to accept your insurance benefits. Attempts to resolve conflicts like this are impossible when the owner will not take or return calls. This problem is not new. Even before this incident, our family experienced it several times. Jason, Physical Therapist and Doug, Physical Therapist Aide were involved in my therapy. Jason and Doug were both very friendly and asked me about my life. I also asked them about their lives. As a result of the treatments, I now experience a significant improvement in both arms. I was given a copy of all the exercises I had done to bring home with me. The info had a picture of the exercise with details of how often to do them and how many times. The front desk staff were also friendly and helpful when I had questions. The room was always clean. I noticed after a patient leaves that equipment was wiped down and sanitized for the next patient. There is always adequate parking. read more

It took 6 months to get the money back after countless calls! And everytime they say they will get back but no one gets back! Consulted with my lawyer brother (I did not want to bother him for such things but was so upset with this business practice). He suggested to file a complaint to state (MD) Attorney General's office and write back to this business with a copy of the complaint! The Attorney General's office has a specific page to file complaints for medical billing issues (https://www.marylandattorneygeneral.gov/Pages/CPD/HEAU/compOLBillEquipDispute.aspx). That's everyone who has been cheated by this business should do. My doctor recommend Kinesis to me. When I called, I gave them all my info. The person I talked to said Agnes(office manager ) would run the info and they would get back with me as soon as they could verify my info. Well, I have had to call them 4 times in two days they still haven't run my info with the insurance co. They only called me back after I was angry. When you are in pain 2 days seems like a long time. And then they even got my insurance info wrong also. read more

My podiatrist recommended I go to Agnes. He asked me how I did with pain b/c Agnes' method is to painfully massage so deeply that bruising is common. I gave her a shot and thought the painful...VERY painful..method must be effective. She sends you off with a timer and a staff member who can instruct how to do things but not answer questions. She said she didn't know what was going on with me and referred me to someone else. She is not good in my opinion for anything complicated. But the bigger problem with Agnes is she overcharged me hundreds of dollars and when I figured it out by looking at the EOBs, Agnes refused to pay me back by simply ignoring not only my calls, VM messages, and letters but also the calls made by Aetna reps to her on my behalf. After five months, I called the Maryland Attorney General's Office Consumer Protection Division Health Education and Advocacy Unit to see if they would take an interest in this and if I could file a complaint with them. The answer to both questions was yes. I also left a message on Aetna's fraud line to see if they thought it was fraud. The day after I left that message, someone from Aetna called Agnes and left a message for her. I don't know who from Aetna called other than that it was someone other than a rep or what the message was. But within hours, I was contacted by Kinesis. The message left on my VM was "We have had time to review your EOBs and would like you to call to discuss." Really? Five months? Discuss? Anyway, I got my money back. Advice is stay away especially if you are working on meeting a deductible. When I was told the charge was $150 per visit, I said that cannot be right. It should have been about $79. The staff at the front desk said that Agnes had contacted Aetna and that that amount came right from Aetna; only it did not. If you have a copay, this overcharging-clients problem doesn't come up. Shame on you, Agnes! read more

Kinesis is the best facility I have ever been treated at. The front office staff are helpful and professional, equipment is state of the art, the parking is easy, everything is squeaky clean. In fact, it feels like a spa where they heal your bones and muscles. I have had two herniated discs in my neck, a frozen shoulder, a dislocated shoulder and a shoulder reconstruction so I have spent long hours in PT over the years and Kinesis raised the bar. Andrea was able to solve my problems in a handful of visits using exercise and massage and teaching me the best ways to move and stretch and how to work out. We rapidly progressed from therapy to essentially personal training and she taught me how to strengthen and protect my self from future injury. Andrea at times was even working with multiple patients at times and no matter our age, language barriers or physical challenges she listened and cared equally. And the entire staff worked together as a team providing ice packs, heating pads and care. Physical therapy can be a very difficult and painful experience. Or you can go to Kinesis and feel like you are in a luxury hotel being healed by caring professionals. read more

I was referred to Kinesis Physical Therapy by my podiatrist Dr. Assili at Shady Grove Podiatry to treat my plantar fascistic. Dr. Assili suggested that i see Agnes (the owner). Agnes is the BOMB! Agnes is petite but has the strongest hands that i have ever felt. She did warn me that she had strong hands. The treatment hurt so good. I came in with pain and left feeling like a new person. The staff is professional, attentive and friendly. The facility is clean and modern. I am very impressed with the facility and staff and will return for 12 visits. Agnes is also going to treat me for my bulging disk in my back. Appointments with Agnes highly recommended because she is the best and popular. read more

My dr. told me this was the best place around. I felt like I tried them all and those were just mediocre. So far I've been very impressed. It is a state of the art facility. Very clean. Very calming to be in. Soft music and tvs to see while being attended to. I spent the first two weeks with Andrea -- sadly she has since left the company. The partner of the business wanted me to have the ultimate experience and arranged several appointments with Agnes (the owner). Agnes is a very soft spoken petite woman with the hands of a linebacker. She warned me that the work she would do on me would create bruises and she wasn't kidding. However, after 3 of her treatments, I progressed further than expected. (No pain, no gain; right?) I concur with other comments that she seems to remember every detail from previous visits and really, truly knows her stuff. I've been impressed with the front staff and aides as well -- always accommodating and making sure I'm comfortable (blanket, pillows, etc.) I still have about 4 more planned visits and my most recent dr. checkup confirmed that my PT is really making a difference with my progress. read more

The staff at Kinesis is absolutely outstanding, this is the best place I have ever done physical therapy at. I came in with back pain and a complicated diagnosis and, from the first moment to the last, I felt I was cared for and my needs were taken seriously by all the staff working on the floor. Andrea Lerner was my physical therapist and she was fantastic. She greatly helped me understand how to improve and manage my back pain. While most places nowadays treat patients like cattle, Andrea provides a personal touch and great attention to her patients. This was my first rehab experience in the area (I have used PT elsewhere) and was referred by my doctor. Initially I had to call several times just to book an appointment, which I found odd, but eventually was able to work things out. The therapy itself was reasonable. The therapists were friendly, the atmosphere was congenial, and the two gentlemen I worked with seemed to know what they were doing. The recommended therapies worked. Compared to my previous experiences with PT, however, they did not allow me to be involved with my own recovery instead focusing on multiple visits to allow them to do the work on site. My insurance isn't great and so I needed to be judicious with my visits. With my previous experiences I was given sheets and diagrams of stretches and exercises to do at home. With Kinesis I found myself trying to described them in notes to myself on the phone. (I should add that the first therapist used was all smoke and mirrors, the second did give me more tips for home after I explicitly asked for them, but it seemed like he was doing me a favor instead of it being expected). When the bills came a couple months later, I realized why they were trying to maximize my visits! The billing system was too opaque and costs should have been more explicitly described BEFORE services were rendered (especially after I specifically told them I have to limit my visits due to cost). The "10 minute massage" that doubled the cost of the visit comes to mind, as well as the random recheck fee applied during a later visit. At the point at which I voiced my complaint, I was paid some basic lip service and then essentially ignored by both the office manager and someone representing the Kinesis brand higher up the chain. I don't think Kinesis is shady. I don't think that the service provided was at fault. But for those who don't have a cushy insurance program to pay for everything, it is difficult to control your costs and get only what you need. read more

The folks at Kinesis know what they are doing. They have the technical knowledge and are so attentive and caring. I always feel like they are happy to see me and want to make me as comfortable as possible. The facility is immaculate and they are always cleaning, folding and straightening things. You can tell that the therapists enjoy what they do. There is a sense of camaraderie and you feel that the entire staff is there to help you get better. read more
