I am writing this review for Point Performance, but specifically Michal Tekle. I started with Michal a little over a month ago. I was experiencing lower back pain and was unsuccessful at treating it myself. My wife has been going to Point Performance for some time and has always spoken highly of Michal. I was hesitant, because I have experienced physical therapy before and was not satisfied. I felt like a piece in a factory production line. I am an active person, and physical fitness is important to me. So, to be experiencing lower back pain was interfering with what I was able to do physically. When I first met Michal, I explained to her the type of physical activity I like to do and wanted to continue doing. I found Michal to be friendly, personable, and caring. As the weeks have passed, I have noticed improvement and strengthening in the areas of my body that needed strengthening. This has helped me to be able to better perform the strength exercises I do. Unlike the physical therapy sessions I had before I started meeting with Michal, I noticed Michal was tailoring the exercises she had me doing to what I like to do in the gym. I realized, in order to better do the strength exercises I like to do, it is important to have good core strength. It's not that I had not done core-strengthening exercises before. However, the exercises Michal has me doing are much better. I have been very impressed with Michal; she is well trained, knowledgeable, and pays attention to detail. In these strange times we live in, it is refreshing to meet someone like Michal. Michal is the type of person who has a natural ability to make people happy and at ease. I hope Dr. Klaiman and Hechtman know what a valuable and exceptional employee they have in Michal Tekle. Michal has significantly exceeded my expectations. read more

I want to start out by saying that Point Performance is AWESOME! About 6 months ago I tore my knee playing soccer and got surgery to reconstruct my ACL and meniscus. I came to Dr. Haim Hechtman and Louise Kelly because I was determined to rehab my knee with the areas best Physical Therapists. Haim Hechtman is not only professional and knowledgable, but he is also friendly and caring. He sincerely cares for the well-being of his patients and invests his time in helping you reach your goals. Haim always knew how to push me when I needed to be pushed, and because of that, I will be returning to play stronger than before. Louise always found unique ways to innovate new exercises into my sessions so I was always working different parts of my knee. She is very attentive to detail and emphasizes the importance of you form and posture. In the early stages of my recovery, I was unable to bend or straighten my knee and I walked incorrectly. After working with Haim and Louise for about 5 months, I have seen an incredible improvement. I am now able to run, squat, jump, and go back to my normal active lifestyle. What sets them apart from other Physical Therapists is the level of knowledge and commitment they have in their field and their genuine desire to help you succeed in your recovery. Point Performance Therapy is the best physical therapy clinic I've been to, and, having suffered from knee pain in both knees for many years, I've been to a lot! I've worked with Dr. Louise Kelley, an extremely knowledgeable and effective therapist, who has guided me through exercises selected to correct my posture, walking gait, muscle imbalances, and breathing technique. Rather than separate out the injured body part, as most insurance-based PT clinics do, she works with the entire neuromusculoskeletal system and has provided me with the most amazing information about my own body and how to rehabilitate myself (no easy task in one's sixties!). Partnering with Louise is Danny Rodriguez, a truly gifted Physical Trainer who has patiently worked to strengthen my body. Since I am easily injured, he has expertly provided exercises that push me just enough to make progress without aggravating my knees in any way. Louise and Danny have worked together to give me the best possible care, and I am forever grateful to them, and to Point Performance, for giving me my life back. Point Performance offers cutting-edge therapy in a calm, unfailingly pleasant atmosphere and, in my opinion, is the only place to go for physical therapy and physical training. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Mark Klaiman, he is so professional, spend time with the patient to understand the problem that the patient has, follows-up, I went for my migraine/ headache and scoliosis/ back/ shoulder pain, he took his time to understand what I am feeling and what I am going through, run test sent me to the hospital for MRI, got the results, discussed it with me and explained what s happening, he sat with me and explained the options and the treatments, recommend the best treatment, the office talked with the Insurance company, the staff is very helpful, friendly and professional, they send you reminder for your upcoming appointments, they contact you if there is an issue. Honestly Dr. Klaiman gave me my life back, I go back every 3 months to the office meet with him for treatment, my life back to normal, every time he walks in asks and checks what s happening, give me the treatment, I go on time, I do not wait more than 5-7 minutes, I am so grateful to this amazing team, the office so clean and very comfortable. read more

I saw Chris Ricardo for approximately nine months of weekly rehab following Achilles' tendon surgery in mid-2017. He and the rest of the staff at Point Performance were knowledgeable, professional, and encouraging. My appointments were always on time and there was ample coordination among the staff, even when there were a lot of patients present. The administrative staff was also always very friendly and organized, and I never had a single issue with scheduling and billing during my many interactions with them. Chris started every session by discussing my progress (or regression in some cases) over the previous week, and tailoring my exercises accordingly. I felt like he really listened to what I was saying; at the same time, he did not hesitate to let me know when he thought I was overdoing it. It was not an easy or linear recovery, but the staff at Point did everything they could to help me, and I am finally back running again. As a patient of both Dr. Klaiman and his wonderful physical therapy staff, I have had only the most positive experiences in his office. With a history of years of pain due to a chronic health condition, Dr. Klaiman was patient and kind and listened to all my concerns and detailed "ramblings" about what I had already tried, what I was interested in trying and I felt that he let me play a role in my care. Most doctors have egos too large to allow that. Dr. Klaiman has an extremely calming personality. His office space is serene and the PT facility is top notch! I was always seen in a timely manner and the ease of making appointments was a plus. Prescriptions were filled quickly and the staff was consistently warm and welcoming. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Klaiman to anyone suffering from orthopedic/soft tissue/ or unresolved pain conditions. I would make this a first stop before going to a surgeon as I have confidence he can help guide you in making the best long term decision. read more

I had a great experience at Point Performance, and I have recommended this practice to several friends and coworkers. I worked with Dr. Klaiman and Chris Ricardo after close to two years of chronic back pain and a failed and frustrating experience with a generic physical therapy shop in downtown DC. I loved that the practice integrated both pain management specialists and physical therapists, which provided a holistic approach to my health. Chris Ricardo was great to work with for Physical Therapy; he was incredibly attentive to what my goals were with our sessions, very communicative both in person and between sessions via email, and gave me the confidence I needed to manage my pain. I experienced more progress in several weeks with Chris than I did during several months of PT with my previous therapist. How to express the gratitude we feel for Dr. Haim Hechtman, DPT? The orthopedist who referred us to him told us he was "the best of the best; if he can't fix you, no one can." My daughter is a year-round swimmer. She had been hampered by serious shoulder pain for 11 months and unable to swim at all for more than 4 months. We had been to three orthopedists and two physical therapists; nothing was helping. In fact, shoulder pain was now waking her up at night. Dr. Hechtman alleviated her pain in just 5 visits and -remarkably- without even touching her shoulder. He was the only one to realize (on our very first visit) that her problem originated in her pelvis and thoracic area, not her shoulder. In our house, we call him "the magician." Worked with Chris Ricardo for pre-hab PT for a knee replacement and after the surgery itself. His highly professional and expert approach greatly speeded my recovery and my ability to not only meet but exceed pre-op physical capabilities. And made me hungry to continue my workouts in other ways, so I seem to be off to a new approach to life as well as a new knee. Point Performance is a great place, with friendly and always helpful staff, strong expertise, and a strong individual approach that helps one get the exercises right and to learn to do it on one's own. I've been to the huge PT places where the attendant can barely be bothered, the machines are in use mostly to reduce staff time working with you ....and never again. Point Performance personnel are exceptional. My pain in my shoulders and neck and nerve jingling down my right arm was determined to be from arthritis and other age related stuff by an MRI and Dr Majeed's expert analysis. But my many PT treatments from Lauren Melito, DPT, worked over my whole upper body to improve my posture and strength and alleviate the pain I had felt. Her expert massages and limb manipulations always improved my day and set the stage for exercises she taught me. With her careful explanations and full answers to my questions and follow-up questions we created a daily routine to prevent a recurrence of the muscle pains. Point Performance is, no question, the best physical therapy practice I've ever visited. The therapists are extremely knowledgeable and spend a long time evaluating what's wrong - no rush or assumptions. The exercises are also specifically tailored to you and your body type and mechanics. It's a huge difference from other practices I've been to which have been generic and more factory-like. In the past, I couldn't tell if I recovered simply because enough enough time had lapsed since an injury, but at Point Performance, my recovery was so fast that there's no doubt it was due to their precision and expertise. The facility, too, is the nicest one I've ever been to - it's clean, open, bright, and modern, so it's also a pleasant place to visit. read more

The two therapists I have been working with, Michal and Lealah, have helped me a great deal as I am recovering from a 6 hour surgery. They know exactly the exercises for me and they adjust while in process when new information becomes available. They are patient and supportive. They ask good questions about any new developments between sessions and they really listen. I have had a lot of physical therapy over the years and these two are far and away the best. The front desk staff is also first rate.....very patient and welcoming despite the constant coming and going of patients and therapists. Highly recommend Point Performance! read more

I have been a patient at Point Performance for a little over a year. Dr Klaiman did my original assessment. I felt he was extremely thorough and actually listened to all of my questions and concerns. I did not feel rushed. I have worked with Lauren Borro and she is by far the finest, most knowledgeable, most caring physical therapist I have ever worked with ( and unfortunately I have needed several in the past). I did rehabilitation for a failed total knee replacement with Dr. Chris Ricardo at Point Performance both BEFORE the revision surgery and afterward. I would not have had the ability to respond so well to the surgery and its aftermath had I not had such excellent care and therapy at Point Performance. At each step of the process, Chris worked with me to explain what we were doing and why, and to help me gradually overcome the problems I had. Point Performance is excellent on all fronts. Dr. Klaiman is incredibly caring and knowledgeable and the physical therapists are equally skilled and compassionate. Lealah Fremuth is amazing; very knowledgeable and patient, and attentive to the concerns and needs of her clients. I've been to several physical therapy centers in the Wash DC area and can say without a doubt that this is the most superior one I've encountered. The best kept secret at Point Performance is Jose Suros, MD. He has been my pain management specialist for almost a decade - after getting rear-ended thrice. I wouldn't trust anyone else, other than Dr. Suros to provide the injections in my back and spine; he has excellent listening and communication skills; I appreciate his conservative treatments, and advice. He is the most compassionate doctor I've had the pleasure of knowing. I hope Point Performance re-records their message to include not just the owners, but also Dr. Suros. Following several years of hip pain, I met with Dr. Mark Klaiman for an assessment and PT recommendation. After approximately eight PT sessions with Christopher Ricardo DPT, CSCS, I walked away pain free. Everyone from receptionist, to schedulers, tech folks, PT's and MD's are highly professional, attentive and service oriented. Went to have therapy 6 weeks ago after knee surgery. As I am close to resuming all of my golfing activities, three weeks from now, I felt I should share my experience.
