After my visit w/ Dr. Dombrowski, I felt compelled to write this review. If you dont have time to…read moreread the whole review, bottom line is that he is AMAZING - best doc I have seen for neck and back problems EVER. He listened, encouraged questions, cared and came up w/ a plan that did not initially involve injections. He prescribed 2 medications and they have made a world of difference in my neck - I can hardly belive that it could feel so normal again. In addition to being an experienced and caring doctor, his breath and depth of knowledge is remarkable and his personality is exceptional. He made me feel so comfortable, encouraged questions and never made me feel rushed. Seven months ago I woke up w/ a neck problem so extreme that I could barely take a step without feeling severe pain. My PCP prescribed a medication that was too strong for me - it got rid of the pain AND my memory. Flash forward 7 months. During the 7 months of neck pain I met with a Physical Therapist who has helped me w/ exercises for various aches and pains over the years. This time w/ the exercises giving no relief and the neck pain so severe, I gave up and decided I would probably need cortocosteroid injections. I had an MRI and made an appointment w/ an Orthopedic Surgeon my PCP recommended. I had a folder with the recent cervical MRI and all the doctor's notes and reports from visits to previous doctors. The Orthopedic Surgeon had me take additional Xrays in his office. He immediately recommended I see a doctor for cortocosterioid injections in my neck. He didn't spend more than 7 minutes in the examining room and most of the time with his BACK to me -it was an odd experience. I tried to see the doctor he recommended but her staff made so many mistakes in making the appointment, telling me I had an appt on March 31, then after receiving many confirmation requests from them, when I called to ask a question, was told I didnt have an appt till April 7. I called again to ask about get injections and was told I did have a March 31 appt. It was all more than I wanted to deal with and canceled with her. I feel so fortunate that I got to quickly see Dr. John F. Dombrowski at the Washington Pain Center on New Mexico Ave, in NW DC . He was AMAZING. Without even looking at the MRI report and the Xrays, he told me exactly what the MRI report would say and what the Xrays would show - he is that experienced. AND best of all, Instead of getting an injection, he suggested I first try some medications. After taking one pill yesterday and one today, my neck already feels better. I can actually turn my head without wincing in pain. There was another patient who came in after me. Before Dr. Dombrowski saw him, he came to me to ask me a "favor"- would I mind if he saw the other patient before me as Dr. D. knew it would be a short appointment with the other patient. How many doctors would ask for your permission to do that or would they just do what they want? I have been kept waiting such long times at some offices, with no explanation being given from anyone, that I have walked out. The office waiting room is inviting and comfortable AND the receptionists are the nicest I have ever met. They both were so kind. I especially appreciated Kate helping me use the Ipad to fill out the forms and telling me I did not need to rush. IMHO, the people at the front desk can create a positive or negative feeling from the moment you walk into an office. For me, if the first people you meet in an office are too busy to look up and welcome you, that is not a good sign. Kate and the other receptionist created a very positive environment. I am thankful I found Dr. Dombrowski and his team. Am looking forward to returning in a couple weeks for a checkup!!

She is extremely thorough, knowledgable, intelligent, compassionate, communicative, collaborative, and dedicated. She knows what she knows, but also knows what she doesn't know and can admit that. I tried a few different integrative doctors before I met with Dr. Chandra, but they either didn't have has much coverage as her, or they weren't collaborative partners in my health journey. There isn't an ounce of condescension in this office, which is refreshing. She hires the best people, too. They are intelligent, compassionate, strong, and dedicated, too. But most importantly, I'm able to function as a human being again, which is the best part. I continue to work with her to peel back the layers of onion that is my journey toward even better health. I'm very grateful for her and her team and I recommend her to everyone who doesn't know what in the world is going on with themselves. Our bodies are complicated, and they required a thorough, investigative approach to address as many sources of ill health instead of just covering up symptoms with a bandaid.

This review is two years in the making. Our son suffers from OCD. We contacted Newport Academy…read morewho said that they had the supports to help him. They did not! He got pretty much no counseling and spent his days doing yoga and mindfullness, which may be helpful for some, but not a kid with a real diagnosis. Our impression was that this was babysitting for kids who smoked pot.... Our sons school sent work that was supposed to be done at Newport with there "teachers" but that never happened. I guess to sum up... our last day the academy and ourselves reached a decision that could not help, yet they told us we coud not leave until the end of the day. We left. Turns out they don't get paid for partial days. So althought they admitted that this diagnosis was out their capabilities, they wanted us to stay so that they could bill. Stay Away! Unless you just need someone to watch your unruley child, their services are not to cure/help just to babysit!

You just want to be accepted and this is NOT how I felt. I was in this program for about 6 months and definitely had some mental issues at the time, and being here only made it worse. Of course during the therapy sessions I TOLD them this and obviously they just insisted on keeping me there LONGER (probably because it made them more money). I saw absolutely no way out, so I said some pretty wacky things (not gonna specify) in order to get me kicked out. After that I found myself with very little respect for therapy/therapists. Now, I can confidently say that i am doing so much better with absolutely NO thanks to Newport. It wasted so much of my valuable time as a young man and student trying to find a passion in life. I DO NOT recommend this place for anyone. If you/your child are actually a serious risk to yourself or others, PLEASE pick somewhere professional.

After reading some of these reviews I feel obligated to step in and say my peace. I have been a…read morepatient of Dr. Arvanaghi for more than 15 years. I followed him from Suburban Hospital all of these years to today at PMI. I drive almost an hour & a half each way to see him bc he is hands down, THE ABSOLUTE BEST. I saw a complaint about urine tests. When you become a patient you enter into a contract. The doctors at PMI take excellent care of you & closely monitor your pain. They put together a plan including multiple avenues to relieve & control your pain which sometimes includes medication. In return, you promise to follow through on your end and if prescribed medication, you agree to take it as directed and not to take anything not prescribed by them. The DEA dictates the law & the law states that ALL pain mgt patients must take drug screens every 3 months. We ALL have to take them because it PROTECTS both the Dr and US. If you don't want to submit to one then you should probably ask yourself what you don't want them to see! The staff has changed and evolved as the practice has grown as does any good business. Some of the complaints in these reviews are actually infuriating! These gals (Mimi, Mercedes, Brandy, the 2 Cindys, & Corrinna, just to name a few) work their butts of in a very busy, multiple doctor office full of grumpy people in pain (like me!). They are not only courteous but efficient! To say that they are rude or incompetent is just CRAP! The office is dirty?? Really?? WHERE? The office is very clean, nicely decorated and the exam rooms are kept spotless. Someone said they run out of supplies "syringes & such" bc they forget to order them...hmmmm, never heard of this happening! The thing I read that angered me most was that these doctors WANT to keep people on opioids and create addicts!! Not only is this slanderous but it's incredibly incorrect!! I have always had my medicine adjusted fairly and in accordance with what is going on with my health. NEVER have I been over prescribed nor felt as though I was becoming an "addict". That is plain foolishness! In fact, thanks to the people across the country abusing their medication, doctors like these are having to force lower dosages and alternative treatments to patients like myself in chronic horrific pain. Finally, while Dr. A is my main doc, I have had the pleasure of being treated by Dr. Lee and Dr. Larkin in his absence. These are the kindest, most sincere and caring doctors I have ever met. You are not a number in this office & they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Honestly, Dr. Arvanaghi is one of the best, incredibly caring, and most sincere human beings I have ever met. This man not only cares about my pain, he cares about my life & overall well being. I have unfortunately had to undergo numerous surgeries. He reviews every detail, (even on things such as my gall bladder surgery!) and advises me on every aspect of my health. He has called me personally to make sure I am alright and his staff have gone above and beyond to make sure I had everything I need. Always. I have never had to wait more than 24 hours for a returned call. I have never had to request anything more than once. I have no doubt that MINOR mistakes have been made by the office staff (someone got snapped at or put on hold too long) bc they are human but these girls are constantly looking to improve the office and their efficiency. I honestly cannot say enough good things about PMI, the doctors & staff. Will you have to wait sometimes? Yes. It is infrequent but has happened & it is bc the doctor is being thorough with the person that is being seen before you. I have been on both sides of this & it is worth the wait! If you are looking to get in, get a script & get out...this isn't your office. If you are "dr. shopping"...this isn't your office. If you are impatient or easily aggravated...perhaps you should go elsewhere but if you are in serious pain & need competent, compassionate, involved, excellent, award winning doctors...the ABSOLUTE BEST, with an awesome office staff that cares...make an appointment. You won't be disappointed.

When my mom arrived on a Saturday there was no check-in process. They put her in a room & we were there for hours b4 anyone came and said anything. My sister & I waited for the charge nurse to talk with us & explain things we went to her twice. She never came. No paper was given, no explanation of any kind. Night one we stayed pass visiing hours & as we were about to leave around 9ish, they can in with all these needles, meds etc.. when asked what was all this for they said she had to have a TB, covid & something else & to weigh her. I didn't have a problem with it but had we had a discussion at some point after arriving at 2pm I would have been able to explain it to my 78yro mom. Sunday, I spent the night bc of the lack of urgency the weekend staff showed. It takes hours for them to come when u hit the buzzer, & I mean hours. Not asking for a 5- 10min response but certainly anything over 30mins is ridiculous. Especially when patients can't walk on their own, get out of bed on their own, go to the bathroom on their own. Sunday night around 930pm I was given lots of papers to sign, some consisted of assessments that was never done. So I refused to sign them until I spoke with someone on Monday morning, needless to say they were never signed. My family rotated around the clock to make sure someone was there with her. There were a few good ones like Natalie, Samantha, & Lola that took good care of my mom. Overall, they need a better check-in process especially on weekends if they are receiving patients. The work does not stop, it appears they contract staff, there's a difference between weekend & week day staffing, there needs to be a better ratio staff to patient, aall assessments including dietary should be done at least a couple of hours after a patient arrives, Charge nurse Katiya needs more training along with a few others, I did address my concerns with Chris & he addressed some like my mom's dietary needs, the bed she had sunk in the center so a new mattress was given & a few other things. I asked my mom would she want to go back, since she still needs rehab she said not to stay only for therapy. Wish they offered outpatient PT.
