Everything's Better Monogrammed

When I was married 37 years ago, my mother-in-law gave me a set of appliquéd sheets which were beautiful so I purchased 4 new white pillow cases ($50.00) and brought them to EBM to have them also appliquéd. I brought my original cases for EBM to see what I wanted. I expected the thread and the fabric used to be very close to the same color. When I picked them up, the thread was the light blue I picked out and the fabric used was a light gray. I was disappointed but took them home. I have only used the cases twice because I don't think they are pretty. They are also fraying after 2 washes. This past week, I purchased another 4 pillowcases ($50.00) and returned to EBM to have them monogrammed since they have done a good job on my other monogrammed pieces. While placing my monogram order I asked the owner about my past appliquéd cases because they were such an investment and I was unhappy with how they had turned out. She did not remember the order, so I told her that when I picked up this new monogram order, I would bring one of the appliquéd cases for her to see. I returned today and showed the owner my appliquéd case. The owner looked at my case and told me that she had not done the work. I showed her how the fabric was fraying after 2 washings and how the fabric and the thread did not match. She in effect told me that she was sorry but not sorry because her store did not do the work. I explained to her that I have not shopped at any other monogram store and I remember that I did indeed have the work done at her store. She denied this. I would not have taken the time in writing this complaint except for the fact that I read a similar complaint about this owner on Yelp about 2 weeks ago. This complaint I read showed that the owner does not believe in customer service and does not take responsibility when her shop does a poor job. This other customer stated that she finally got the owner to split the difference in cost with her. Why have a business when you don't take responsibility for your mistakes, say you are sorry and ask how you can make up for the mistake? I think it odd that when dropping off your order, this business has you pay up front, after all, they have your merchandise. For instance, these last 4 pillow cases cost me $50.00. Why would a customer pay $50.00 for cases and then not pick them up when they have been monogrammed? I payed $50.00 for the cases and then EBM charged me $60.00 to monogram. I see now, this is done because if you are not satisfied, they already have your money. If you are not happy, too bad because they are not customer friendly. Buyer Beware, as I learned with my appliqué order. Whatever work they turn out, they will be payed and it does not matter whether or not you the customer are satisfied. The owner just denied that she had done the work. Had I known she would treat me as a customer this way, I would not have made a 46 mile trip from Chapel Hill. There are other monogram shops in the area and I bet that there are others who treat there customers as they should. If your order goes as it should with this business I am sure you will be satisfied but if a mistake is made, too bad for you the customer and oh well, EBM has your money.
