I had Spectrum cable/Internet for many years in Hawaii. After a long run I had to disconnect my service because of a move. The staff were rude and short, without even a thank you for so many years of service. All they wanted was my last payment for service I didn't receive because of their system asking for a username and password which Spectrum never told me about or gave to me. Horrible customer service. Had an appointment to set up my cable and internet at my new apt (we had services with them at our old place). They didn't show up. I called an hour after they were supposed to come, and they said they came. No, no they didn't. I was waiting for 3 hours at my apt. They had my phone number and they never called me. I bet they realized it was a condo and couldn't get in and were lazy and didn't even bother to call my cell phone that I provided and they confirmed. What a waste of my day. read more

Not very impressed with their pressure tactics to sell me service!!! Representative parks his unmarked van right in front of my house blocking anyone to access My garage. When I asked him 'Why are you blocking my driveway, his response is Spectrum sent me to here to see you. When I referred back to why is he still blocking the front of my driveway, He insisted, Spectrum sent me to see you specifically! When I questioned him what is my name if Spectrum told you to see me specially. He said I don't know just know I can save you money with spectrum. Then Trying to force a business card on me, I am definitely turn off, regardless of what products you have now. After he finally leaves, watch him drive to my neighbors doing the same tactics. I realize Honolulu has been experiencing high winds for the last few days but I was under the impression Spectrum's fiber was underground. Someone needs to explain to me why my TV and cell phone have been buffering like crazy the last few days. Maybe Spectrum doesn't have enough band width for all of their customers that are paying through the nose for inadequate service...let me say that their employees are wonderful and do the best they can. Internet has bad connection and I time out almost everyday when I'm online. Sometimes multiple times in one night. Just terrible.

I moved into my apartment a year ago this June and everyday since my WiFi/Internet has been terrible. I have called multiple times to get it fixed, workers would come and not complete the work and never come back. I am so dissatisfied to the point where I gave up calling and attempting to get it fixed I will never recommend this company to anyone. I have nothing positive to say about this service. It's ok when you are a customer except for the continual prices raises and added surcharge. We disconnected our services (we had 2) and they refuse to prorate our bills. They want us to pay a full month for 12 days service. Not fair. The agent never told us they won't prorate when we cancelled. I complained and got a call and this person told me that she could force me to read my bills but it on the bill. There is nothing on the bill that says they will not prorate a bill if you disconnect. I don't have a contract so no buyout. I have never had a cable company do this before. They added a $23.70 Broadcast TV and Sports Program surcharge without any notice. They did that last year but called it a Sports Program surcharge and I call and they took it off my billing. We don't watch sports. This year they refused. Who get paid for services they don't render. We are seniors and have a limited income and can no longer afford they outrageous bills. This company has no heart. read more

The absolute worse internet service ever. The technicians come out in pairs to further make the situation worse. I think it is their plan to make matters worse so you do not call them again. Of course, they want to blame your equipment, the distance from the router, the distance of the Modem from the computers. Then there is always hardwire if you want faster than 00.44 uploads (less than 1 MB) and I am promised and paid for 200 MB upload then hardwire. So what is the solution? Complain to the BBB, Attorney General, Consumer Protection, and FCC. What Spectrum is doing is called stealing. Good luck to us Spectrum suckers. read more

I was penalized for cancelling our Cable Service by the Representative. We hung onto our internet and phone but specified that we are cutting expenses to save money. The representative did what he needed to cut the cable but jacked up our internet as well, which cost us time and money as a small business. We book through our web based services. HATE HATE HATE spectrum. This review has been long overdue. Super unprofessional customer service. Spent over three months going back and forth between them and telcom about who's fault it was for not being able to transfer our phone line. Both of them blamed me for not communicating with the other provider when I did my part on letting telcom know that we were switching over. It shouldn't be my problem to figure out the technical problem and what went wrong. Neither of them were able to contact each other so I had to be the middle person. Got bitched at by one of the representatives from spectrum who blamed me for everything. I wish I got his name because he was absolutely terrible! It wouldn't have mattered anyway because even when I asked to speak to a supervisor, they always gave me the response of one was not available. I even had spoken to one of the guys who seemed to figure out the problem but the next day when I tried to contact him, I got the response of "he's not at his desk at the moment", then the next day was "I'll leave him a message", then finally "he's on lunch right now". I'm not stupid, it's obvious that he didn't want to deal with me, and to think I was the nicest to him too. No one wanted to help me and each person I spoke to had no idea what was going on and I had to repeat my story about ten times to ten different representatives. By the end of it, my phone line was finally connected 3 months later and they still had the nerve to charge me the 3 months I didn't have a phone line for. Said they would credit me $100 but ended up only getting $50. I didn't bother calling about it. I'd rather lose the $50 in credit then deal with any one of them. Their entire customer service department is a disgrace and embarrassment to their entire company. And now I just checked my account and they overcharged me for this month. They're probably going to tell me once again that it was my fault and that they're going to keep the money. It really wouldn't surprise me. That's how greedy they are. The only reason why I stick with them is because the telcom signal in our area is terrible. read more

It is a REAL problem having Hawaii customer service calls being routed to mainland. I made several calls to Spectrum Customer Service last week about upload/download speed and got just as many answers. When a representative told me to bring in my modem and pick up the new modem with external router, I jumped on it and went to stand in line at Ala Moana for 30 minutes only to be told I was probably talking to a mainland representative who would not know that type of service is not available in Hawaii. Duh! Why would you not teach the Hawaii parameters to your telephone customer service providers? Or teach Hawaii customers that customer service providers are not in tune with Hawaii service options? If possible, we would quit Spectrum but our building negotiates services. read more

The equipment is the biggest issue. Cable box is slow and has to be unplugged to reboot every time it freezes up. The DVR space is limited. Recently - the remote was acting up - unplugged the box again to reboot it. The Channels available are limited as well - we need some commercial free programming. My mainland friends laugh at us. That TWC wifi option is not user friendly. The cost is crazy - we need more competition. Hawaiian Telcom - price wise is a little better - but do they carry OC-16 programming? No. Too bad - it been this disappointing for decades with very little improvement- but the price keeps going up. read more

The only reason I give them one star is because there is not a lower rating. I currently have to a bundle with Spectrum which include home phone service. I don't need home phone service! I called a "customer representative" and she explained that I was getting the best price possible because of the bundle that I currently have. If I decided to only get Internet and TV then I would have to pay for the services separately and it would be much more expensive. She did not even take the time to give me a price quote on those two services or a bundle of them. Even though the reviews of Hawaii Telcom are not much better it is time to explore that option. Whatever you're quoted... add $22 in fees you can't modify. The service is fine and account setup quick but the hidden charges showed quickly. Sales rep quoted $79.99 for 400Mb download internet and TV service. Obviously a modem is mandatory and I'm renting their modem until my HHGs arrive with mine. I thought we were all set, my first bill shows a $13.95 "TV Broadcast Fee" which applies to get local channels, but you cannot remove them from your package. They also added an $8 charge for the receiver, but won't let you turn it in even if you aren't using it because you stream through the app to your Apple TV. Spectrum treats its loyal customers worse than its new customers. It refuses to sell tv and internet for 29.99 per month to its loyal long time customers. Can you picture this Spectrum policy in an analogous situation to a restaurant. Imagine a long time customer of the spectrum restaurant comes in to eat looks at the menu and the prices. The customer is about to order and the spectrum waiter says you can order that but the prices on the menu are only for new customers and not for repeat or loyal spectrum customers. As a loyal and repeat spectrum customer you have to pay more than a new customer. That loyal customer would likely walk out of spectrum restaurant and never return. The spectrum policy is absurd and should be changed. Hope spectrum changes its policy. read more

I have had issues with my cable bill for months now. MLB was purchased in error. I visited the Kapolei store to fix this and was told that I had to pay for the first game but the others were removed. UMMMM WRONG...i just found out that once the bill is printed on the first of the month they charge you and will not remove it from the bill. doesn't matter if you watched it or not...they totally suck and i feel that their practices are deceptive. Customer service guy was helpful but can't do a thing. So buyer beware that if you make a mistake they won't credit you....in a matter of 5 months I've paid almost $800 for basic cable...Someone said that other cable options need to be available and I totally agree...The only other option here is Hawaiian TelCom and I hear they're just as bad...maybe it's time to cut ties with both and get Netflix or just watch the news via their websites... read more

I tried to canceled my TV subscription last month. The rep told that it was "all done". He didn't. I was still charged the same amount. So I called again yesterday. First 2 reps told that they saw the note but no action was taken. Then the 2nd rep told me that I could have qualified for the ACP program and get a $30 refund. I asked her what kind of program is that, she said it's a government program. And if I don't get it, they will help me to apply. I immediately went online after I hanged up but came to find out it was for people who are getting welfare. I called back, but the rep said she couldn't understand me. After a lengthy discussion she finally agreed to cancel my TV. She then put me on hold. I waited for 15 minutes and all of a sudden I was transferred to payment dept. but nobody was speaking to me. I then hanged up and called the 3rd time. The last gentlemen tried to convince me to stay with the company like all the other reps do. I finally had to tell him I have been on the phone for almost 2 hours and I was fed up. He eventually disconnected my service I hope. But yes there is no pro-rate for your service. If they cut my service yesterday, I still have to pay the full price for the month until the end of this month. I really don't know if all these reps are instructed to lie to retain their customers. But Spectrum's business practice seems very deceptive. One more thing I was told that I was getting the extreme high speed 1G for my internet service; but my download speed is only 30MB. Wow Carlos provided such great service installing a new cable line to a back bedroom. He crawled under the house to run the line, made sure everything worked properly. I couldn't be any happier! He also installed a power booster to ensure the signal to the back room as well as the entire house had a strong signal. He also noticed that the line from the telephone line to my house was deteriorating so he scheduled a call back for me so they can comeback at a later date to replaced the frayed line. Using Yelp low rating because I can't get through to a service person. Have internet only and on or about Friday 1 August, Spectrum randomly reset my WiFi router custom name and passwords. I try to use phone app and website pathway to reset; but fail because app and website report the router status as "unable to edit or display ... ". I wonder if Spectrum public affairs / communications office might be willing to broadcast guidance and timeline for a fix? read more

We have had Spectrum internet service for two years now and it has been very stable. Two years ago when Hawaiian Telecom failed to show up for an installation appointment that had been planned for weeks, we called Spectrum and they installed the service the same day. Last week we had an internet outage due to a cable problem. There was some miscommunication over appointment time initially. But after that cleared up, their technicians showed up promptly and saved the day. Overall I appreciate that every time I call, there is always a person answering the phone at the other end and they have generally been very helpful. read more

This is the second time that I've tried Spectrum, the second time that I've basically got burned by this company. The first time was when Spectrum took over Oceanic. As soon as Spectrum took over, the service, it went south almost immediately! The second was when they came to my door offering a great deal-- Unfortunately, I bit. Well, the salesperson made three claims that turned out to be false. On top, of all of that, the internet sucked instantly, it almost continuously kicked me off of my network, unable to connect, lost connection several times a day! I had to reset it four-six times a day, from the first day. I decided to yank the service. Thankfully, my previous ISP was willing to reconnect as a repair than a reinstall. Unfortunately, Spectrum is charging me $44.00---That I really CANNOT spare!!----For Lousy Service!! So what's the lesson here, "If it sounds too good to be sure, it probably is.". First, they do not deserve even a microscopic portion of the single star but you can't review without at least one star. Also, it is most definitely NOT TWC that is the problem. It is Charter Spectrum. When it was TWC everything was great and everything was handled locally. Now all you get are excuses and lies as to why the service is so unstable and unreliable. When you make your living maintaining web sites for small businesses and NPO's and cannot get a solid internet connection because of DNS servers not functioning properly, your business is forced to close and you lose your livelihood. That is what the incompetence at Spectrum has cost me. The mainland idiots are still telling me that there is no problems with any of their servers when I have proof otherwise for the past two weeks. They also lied about the most recent update (Tuesday night) to their cable boxes and DVR's which messed them up so that there is a delayed response between 3 - 10 seconds before what you pushed on the remote is carried out. The ignorant CSR/Tech support claimed there had been no updates done at all for the past 6 months. Emailing Kathleen Mayo EVP Customer Service is a waste of time because she dumps it off on some underling because she only cares about her unearned, unwarranted bonuses and ridiculous salary she has never earned in my experience with Spectrum. Why did Spectrum have to break everything TWC had working almost perfectly? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a concept that totally escapes Charter Spectrum. They are nothing but a bunch of fraudsters running one of the biggest scams ever perpetrated on US consumers. Their advertisements are filled with false claims and promises that they will never honor or fulfill. They lost a multi-million dollar lawsuit brought against them by the FCC and apparently learned nothing. I have my TV guide set to subscribed channels so I can watch only channels which I am subscribed to. While scanning thru my channels a couple months ago, I saw MLB baseball listed on my subscribed list. I selected thst station, there were NO indication that there were charges associated with this selection. The next month, I was charged $135.00 to watch that one game. When I called to rebuke this charge, they refused to reverse this charge and insisted that I authorized this charge. If I saw that there was going to be a charge, I would not have watched it. I explained that there was no warning about being charged, but they insist that there was a warning. How would they know for sure, they werent in my home to verify this . I sm saying that they cannot be 100% sure that their system runs 100% perfect everytime. Their are equiptment problems all the time. I even experience problems with our Spectrum Business phones at work on a daily basis. Calls are cut, phone rings but no on one the other side, messages are not received until the next day sometimes. If I check and clear my messages, a minute later, I could receive another message that was left earlier that morning. They have a lot of equiptment problems, so how can they insist that the charges were prompted on my screen when I selected that MLB game. Hawaii needs more cable/tv/phone competition, thats why they have that bad attitude, they just dint care about customers. read more
