I had enough time to get a new eye test and prescription before setting off. First thing I did was to wander up and down Plymouth looking for an optician, and the highly amusingly names Public Spectacle caught my eye. Dr. McLeod was excellent! Polite, funny and very good at what he does. We went through his selection of frames, quickly chose the right frames and lenses and he was able to ship them to my next stopping point on my trip. As a result I had both cheaper and better glasses and service than I ever got in my native UK. Especially since I paid in full for them, insurance not being a big thing back home. If I'm ever back in the area and in need of a new pair, I'll be going back! I highly recommend Dr. McLeod and his services. I just wish this hadn't taken me over a year to find and write.

To me I would rather pay a little more, plus I use my FSA and I want to wear great stylish glasses every year, and Dr. Lynch and Bay State Eye  Center have the state of the art in frames and sunglasses.  Did I mention that he goes on annual sabbatical trips to do charitable work to  countries where he gives of himself, and his staff also contribute?  This team is the best around.  Give them a go.

After a number of negative experiences, I recently left my optometrist of 2-3 years…read more I am so glad that I did, because Dr. Lee is hands-down the best optometrist I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot, since I've been wearing glasses/contacts for over 18 years!) Even though I told him early in the appointment that I was moving (and therefore not a potential long-term patient), Dr. Lee took the extra time and care to make sure that I was comfortable and well-informed every step of the way. For example, when I told him that I dilate much more than your average person, he listened and made sure to use as little dilation solution as possible. Dr. Lee is also incredibly knowledgable. In the space of just our one appointment, he told me five things about my eyes/sight that no other optometrist had ever explained before (some of which were really things I should have been told earlier!). I recommend Dr. Lee without reservation and really wish I weren't moving away so soon after finding him.
