There's a reason that the first thing on their phone greeting when you call is "Payment made to Specialty Salvage are non-refundable" After starting service, They couldn't deliver a trash cart. Called 5 times to see where they were, in delivering a cart. No one could answer that simple question. I finally canceled their useless service. A week later I get a trash can delivered. Sent registered mail telling them to pickup their trash cart. That took a month for them to do. Now they have charged my credit card for service again. I feel bad for the people that work the phones. No stars. The ad said one month free, guaranteed price for a year. I gave them my bankcard so I could start immediately but told them I wanted bills. They used my bankcard anyway without my permission. The first payment was for three months and included the free month for new service-4 months worth. In 2 months, they put another charge on and and again in 3 months. Then they put another charge on at the end of the year--at a 35% increase. When I called, the person who answered was so rude and yelling. When I asked about the guaranteed price for a year, she said only of you pay a year in advance. I reminded her that was not stated in in the ad that you had to pay a year. When I said the free month, she said they don't do that. Then I asked why they charged me so much. She said they increased the prices. She said it was none of my business why. When I asked how they figured it out, she said it was none of my business how they figured it out. She said "Do you ask Walmart how they figure out their prices?" I told her that at Walmart, everything is marked and I know what I am going to pay for it before I get to the cash register. I'm not even sure if she understood her analogy was not logical. They didn't pick up my garbage and I called the next day. She said they dropped me a month ago. (The guy -or someone-picked up my garbage, so she was lying about that.) She said the owner said to drop me because she had written down that they "cheated" me. I never said that at all. That's too inane a word for me to have used. I'm guessing that's the only word she could spell. Then she hung up on me. I called her right back and asked her if she was planning on keeping the money. She hung up. I called again-and she didn't even answer. Now I wonder if since she obviously had the bankcard number written down, if she has used it for other personal things. The guy that picked up my garbage was good. I felt sorry for him because he had to drive and pick up the garbage. Most companies have 2. I have him a large tip several times because I felt sorry for him. Now I feel sorry for him because he has to work for such haughty, impudent and pugnacious people. read more

I prepaid for 3 months of trash service. In February 2025 the trash person left the dumpster open and 6" of ice collected in the bottom of the can. The company claims the "bags" were to heavy and they needed a different truck. For 3 weeks I had no trash service, when they finally sent a different truck, the person repeatedly dropped the trash can in the road till the ice fell out. I paid for 3 weeks of service not received. Then again in May I electrically sent payment, the company waits till June 13, 2025 to post the payment to my account, picks up the trash on June 20, 2025. Again 3 weeks with no service that I paid for. The Manager will not allow me to speak to the owner by phone or in person and states "to bad the owner says there's no adjustment with the billing dates". Specialty Salvage owes me 6 weeks of payments returned for services paid for and not received. read more

I tried calling them back in October to pay my trash bill. No response. I call multiple times through the next 5 months and cant get a single person at any point in that time frame. Do yourself a favor and get a better trash conpant thatll actually cooperate with you instead of this joke of a company. read more

Absolutely the worst business to ever exist in Shiawassee county. The owner is completely unprofessional and EXTREMELY rude. If anyone is looking for trash services, do not choose specialty salvage like I regretfully did!!! Every time I've been here, they get the job done. They take my scrap and turn it into cash money.

For the second time this month our garbage was not picked up on our scheduled day. I called & spoke with the owner whose response was "what do you want me to do about it." I explained I would like for his business to comply with the contract we both signed and pick my garbage up weekly. He then replied "if you think I am worried about the $10 I make from you, you're wrong. You won't find any garbage company that is consistent with pickups." I ensured him we weren't shopping around, we just need our garbage picked up as scheduled. When I asked if he was the owner, his response was "what does it matter." "It matters in a sense if this is the way an employee or the owner speaks to paying customers. I would appreciate he run his business in a manner that is professional." I also mentioned if he talks to all of his paying customers this way, his business won't do well. He then calls me f***** b**** and tells me he's going to cancel my service and again he's not making much money from me and hangs up. I called his office back 2 additional times, to just be hung up on. My husband also calls to reiterate, we would like our trash picked up as well as have the two cans and our service cancelled. Purchased trash service through specialty salvage for my house when I moved here a year ago. It took them 2 months to get me a trash cart (which I was paying for). I called multiple times and they repeatedly told me they would bring it out that same day...never did, until two months later. After we had our trash bin the pickup guy would pick through our barrel piece by piece without gloves...disgusting. He almost always left trash behind. Since they wouldn't take nearly half of our trash in our barrel and there were a few times where they didn't even pick it up, I called to cancel. And did not renew. That was 3 months ago and they still have not come to get their trash barrel off my property even after calling and asking them to. Definitely would not recommend this business. It is probably the worst run business I've ever had to deal with. We now use Granger trash service and couldn't be more pleased!! read more

Trying to keep business local, they told me to call at 5 to see if they had a truck to take the load. They didn't, and she said to be at the gate at 8am. After racing to get there at or before 8, she tells me the trucks went out early. She said she never told me to be there, but it was on speaker phone & my wife heard it too. Well, they won't get Any of my business and be sure anyone else gets my money. Arguing with someone who was nothing but nice and bent over to get there on time, Not how you keep customers! read more
