We were at the brink of divorce due to infidelity within the marriage, and several years of generally being frustrated, both with each other, and with some other elements in our lives. We agreed to see two doctors within Specialized Therapy Associates to work things out individually, and after a few months, we met with Dr. Gourdine together for family sessions. Dr. Gourdine was amazing. Her ability to listen so carefully, and peel back the layers of very raw emotion, and to arrive at a succinct and insightful conclusion, thought, or insight at the end of what were hours-long sessions is uncanny. It is easy to admire how highly educated she is, but what we found to be the most brilliant thing about her was how she was able to be so sensitive and empathetic, yet so tough. She really challenged us to see each other's perspectives--something that we had become unable to do. At first, it was a very difficult process, but with every visit, we exited our session feeling that we had dismantled another little piece of the wall that we had built between each other. Speaking with her always helped to bring clarity to situations that we struggled with. With time, we were successful in changing behaviors and habits that helped us to re-discover why we were together in the first place. Not only do we now communicate better within our relationship, and our relationship with our children, but with members of our extended family as well. On so many levels, Dr. Gourdine was able to offer insight and advice that challenged us to become better, both for ourselves and for the sake of each other, and we are very happy that our family is intact and that we have been able to reconnect in ways that are fulfilling to both of us. read more

I first started seeing Dr. Gourdine to address issues with anxiety and stressors with relationships in my life. Once I was able to address those needs Dr. Gourdine also helped me to stop taking medication for anxiety. On a daily basis I suffered with constant sinus congestion where I experienced swelling and redness around my nose and eyes, clogged ears, and congestion in my chest. After many visits to my doctor without any solution other than repeatedly being prescribed antibiotics, I was referred to an ENT doctor and allergist. Testing did not reveal many issues with allergies and I was even given a CAT scan of my sinus which also did not reveal anything of significance. Dr. Gourdine convinced me to get testing to identify issues that may be affecting my health. These results were significant as I had many food sensitivities, some severe including gluten and yeast. After receiving a treatment plan and changing my diet, including other treatments for my stomach, I feel like a new person. I experience minimal issues with sinus problems, have more energy, and finally feel I have control of my health and life. I have been going to therapy and seeing psychiatrists for over ten years. I was never satisfied with any of my doctors and felt that they didn't help me in any way. I was very hesitant when my father said I needed to go back and seek help again. However, my life was in complete turmoil. I was depressed, always angry, had severe anxiety and simply was not myself. I had a mental breakdown. I knew I needed to seek help. I knew my father was right. When I finally gave in, he decided to send me to Dr. Gourdine. I began to see Dr. Gourdine in early June of 2014. I was very impressed with her extensive knowledge in her field and beyond. This included the effects of diet and the digestive tract which have an affect on brain chemistry and mood. I have been working with Dr. Gourdine for a little over year. What I have learned in the past year it's ok to be assertive and don't need to please everyone all the time. I have learned you can't stress or worry about things you can't control. I have been able to regain my confidence and being mindful of the things I can control.. Finding a therapist is hard. I went to 4 before STA. When I started looking for a new therapist I did a little research and realized cognitive therapy was best for me. Which lead me to Dr. Orosy at Specialized Therapy Associates. She helped find ways to work through my depression by noticing the triggers and ways to deal with them. Also ways to prevent them. I was very comfortable with talking to her and never felt she was judging me. I felt like I was talking to a friend. As for the office staff they were very professional. If I had to cancel an appointment they will help me re-schedule one right away. And if there were any insurance changes they would look into it right away. read more

I have seeing a therapist for about a year. I had to miss a few appointments due to medical issues and children's illness and first birthday. The therapist sent me a letter saying that she would No longer see me because I missed to many sessions. I explained to her that I tried to reschedule they appt but was told I would receive a call back, which I never did. When I called her to speak about this, she didn't want to hear anything i had to say. Very unprofessional to me. When they had made mistakes with scheduling or overbooking, I did not stop going to them. I am very upset that they would just end an over a year relationship like this. read more

I had excellent treatment at Specialized Therapy. I was seen once sometimes twice a week for about a year and was able to recover from serious issues with my depression and my marriage. I had no problems with billing at all. When I cancelled an appointment I was told I could make it up. I have recommended others to this facility and they have a staff of caring people. I always had my calls returned. I noticed that some office staff are at the top of their game while others are not. This is true any place you go. I became a client of STA as recommended by a friend who had a treatment there a couple of years ago. She highly recommended Dr. Orosy and I must say she was very good at helping my daughter and myself. My daughter was always quiet and kept to herself since she was very young.
