Let me start by expressing how amazing Dr. Victor Hartanto is. I initially met him while in the ED…read more(emergency department) which led to me having emergency surgery for kidney stones. Even with my mind in overload and anxiety through the roof Dr. Hartanto was extremely kind, patient, caring and had a great sense of humor and bedside manners. He was detailed and transparent with the cause, the procedure and the recovery. I truly felt at ease with proceeding with the procedure. One week after I had a post op appointment in his office. I was greeted by Nijjah (receptionist) with a friendly welcome and smile (even behind her mask). She was very pleasant and had such great energy. Next, I was called and escorted to the exam room by nurse Alyssa. She wore the biggest smile (even with a mask on) and had such a beautiful personality. She explained the follow up procedure, answered my questions and shared some laughs with me. Alyssa was amazing! Finally, in came Dr. Hartanto. He was exactly the same as when I first met him. I left there feeling cared for and confident with the treatment you should receive from a health care provider and his staff.

No eye contact, then straight back to her phone. When we were told to return the iPad the corner where we received it was busy so we went back to the first person. She was on her phone again. She looked up and said, "Yes?" Not "How can I help you?" Just "Yes?" Think about why people come to a place like this. Nobody is here on a good day. People walk in nervous, sometimes scared, waiting on answers that can change their lives. The first face they see sets the tone for everything that follows. A little warmth at that desk costs nothing, and it means everything to someone who is holding it together for the person they love. The clinical team deserves 5 stars. The cleanliness and equipment is 5/5. The first impression brings it to a 1 so I hope management reads this, because the rest of the staff deserves a front desk that matches the care they give.

The location is easy to get to with lots of parking. I only took one star off because every time I come, the phlebotomist does a horrible blood draw that bruises up my arm for a week! The doctors are good, but the office staff has made it nearly impossible to access proper care…read more My doctor at Bergen Medical ordered an MRI and told me to see him again to review it in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, it has been 2 weeks and the referrals department refuses to submit the required forms for my insurance's prior authorization. I have gone back and forth with the office, and no one I speak to can provide an answer as to why they won't submit the forms. I was initially told when I called the office that my MRI had been authorized and I could go ahead with scheduling. I scheduled and my husband took the day off to bring me for the scan, but then my insurance told me I was NOT actually approved. I called the office again and I was told yes, the pre-auth process had not even started. I clarified with the referrals department to make sure there was nothing further they needed from me. The woman I spoke to rudely told me that it hadn't been done because she assumed I'd be using Pascack Valley for the scan (even though I had already confirmed with Pascack Valley I was going elsewhere, and was told I could schedule anywhere.) I checked if there was anything else she needed to submit the forms, and she said no and confirmed she'd submit it "now." Days later I call Bergen Medical again, and am told that the pre-auth process STILL has not begun. I am promised to get a call back about this in 2 business days to explain why I am being given the runaround. So of course two business days plus a weekend go by, I call Bergen Medical back, and yet again no one can help me. The forms have STILL not been submitted, despite the multiple calls and confirmation from the referrals department that it had been submitted the week prior. I don't know what else I'm supposed to do when my doctor has ordered a test and his staff won't submit the forms. I am genuinely baffled.

DR. FOCAZIO SAVED MY LIFE!!!…read more No exaggeration here, I was hospitalized and diagnosed with low platelets late January 2025 at mountainside. Although I was complaining about my stomach they never bothered to do appropriate testing and gave me the boot with a dangerous, near infusion level platelet count (20k range) and slapped an idiopathic diagnosis on It. I rolled along for months filtering through one other gastro and decided to switch to Dr. Focazio. Within a week of thorough testing and analysis he found that I was carrying a rare and extremely deadly novel bacteria inside me that I likely got on a work trip back in November 2024. It was then treated promptly. After feeling a bit better with the bacteria being eliminated I have been experiencing after effects that I thought would never go away but I stuck close to Dr. Focazio and am finally starting to heal. Both myself and my entire family, who have been grateful, could not recommend a better doctor. Dr. Focazio specializes in Gastroenterology but is multi disciplinary which includes his expertise in infectious disease. He has helped me through such a miserable portion of my life where so many other doctors have failed. If you want a doctor to sit down be patient and listen to you with both knowledge of cold hard medicine and also cutting edge knowledge of natural treatments this is YOUR DOC. The staff has been friendly and helpful. I can call them whenever and they hear me out and get back to me. They let me know exactly what the doctor says to do if I have a weird test and are relaxed when there's nothing to be worried about. Both the doctors in my family and other doctors I've seen have commended Dr. Focazios choice of treatment and consideration of my symptoms. I always said if you want a good doc go to one that's not only a doc but also a surgeon. Not only are they schooled but they also have the healing mechanics built into their hands. If you want your life back make an appointment with Dr. Focazio today.
