I feel awful that my parents are paying $500 a month for me to be on caplyta (which I'm sure you…read moreget nice kickbacks for). This is a medication I wanted to go off of. However, my mom urged me to do it safely. When she called Gretchen (your receptionist) - Gretchen had a horrible attitude. Saying I missed my last appointment, which btw you scheduled incorrectly and it was supposed to be virtual and I tried to call and correct that. She then let my mom know that we would have to pay $50 and when my mom declined because, again it wasn't my fault, Gretchen told her that she would be terminating me as a patient. This is completely unsafe and unprofessional. My mom pleaded with her to have one last appointment to get a refill to hold me over while I found another psychiatrist. Gretchen then told her that she was enabling me and I would have to call myself. She then proceeded to tell my mom that I'm not taking my care seriously. This is shocking to hear. I've been in therapy for 6 years straight, I take all my meds, I am committed to my mental health ? Are you committed to being a provider? Why did your employee give unsolicited parenting advice knowing little to no information? You want my and essentially my parents to pay $500 a month for a medication you are getting kick backs for, and then you're going to tell my mom that she is enabling me by making an appointment for me? I urge you to remember why you chose this career, and let you know that you failed me. I truly hope you rethink who you hire, because when I called other places they were appalled at how your staff spoke out of turn to my mother. I have a great support system with my family, how dare she tell my mom that she is enabling me. She is supporting me. I hope you make changes to your practice, but I will not be silent on how my care was handled.

He is a heartless man, and I recall when attempting to speak, he would immediately interrupt you by loudly tapping his pen against his desk and saying 'silence!'

He saw me 7 years ago for about 10 minutes, told me I was bipolar and prescribed me a heavy dose of an anti-seizure medication and high dosage of anti-depressant. Convinced I was bipolar for 2 years, I joined support groups, went to meetup groups, etc. After soul searching for those years, I knew I couldn't be bipolar; I was not at all like those I met. I saw another psychologist (a smart one) who helped me realize my anxiety levels- To put it simply, I was right. No chemical imbalance, no sickness, no nothing. My "episodes" were bouts of anxiety, not chemical imbalances. Since moving from NJ, I have seen other doctors to help me get off of it, but to no avail. This medication is ruining my life, all thanks to Shah who took my money for 10 minutes of his time, and 5 minutes for the next appointment. By the way, the 2nd appointment consisted of me telling him the dosage was too high, so he lowered it and told me good luck in college. Oh, and he failed to mention the side effects: Steven Johnson's Syndrome (fatal rash- yes, fatal) and grand mal seizures if weaned off it too quickly. I'm 28 years old, ready to have a baby. This medication is incredibly harmful for pregnancy (4 out of 5). About 3 times a week, I suffer from migraines that last half a day; two doctors told me it's drug-related (the anti-seizure med). Conclusion: I've reached out to other patients who've mentioned that Shah is quick to put labels on your "condition". I'm sure he's right sometimes, which is why he got two stellar reviews. But please, get a second opinion; do not see a psychiatrist without seeing a psychologist first. I don't mean to offend anyone either. But I wake up every morning taking this unnecessary pill, and afraid for my life to get off it. If anyone in Shah's office reads these reviews, feel free to respond.
