As always, these guys are rock stars! Specialized has been taking care of our heating & A/C unit(s) for a few years now. The original contractors who installed the units were "less than stellar" (and I am being very kind) and we have had to live with the fallout from their lousy equipment and bad original install for almost 12 years now. Jon and Dave from Specialized have come to our aid on several occasions, and have always offered sound maintenance advice, show up when they say they will (which, for SD County is VERY unusual) and fix the problem at what we believe is a fair price. They are also very good about letting us know what to "budget" for next - what should be done right away, and what can wait so we can keep our units running smoothly and efficiently in the long term. Our furnace went completely out at our condo after 45 years of operation. Like you, I had no idea of who is honest and skilled at installing a furnace. The tech Dave was friendly and I hung out with him as he did his work. Jon came out the day of to repair our air conditioner. He did a great job and fast and had all of the parts on hand that were needed. He had to access our attic and even cleaned up the white sprinkled mess that was made removing the ceiling entry panel. Most contracters I have hired never clean that up. I was very impressed. Jon came out to take at a room that was not receiving much air flow. It was an add-on to the existing house so the duct path was not original nor was it intended for the room at all. They were extremely professional during their inspection talking with me about all the possible causes and potential solutions. He came back at a later date to install a booster fan in the room which works great so far and my tenants have not complained. He wasn't able to get the booster fan hooked up to turn on with the central air (not their fault), but they did hook up to a switch inside the room. These young guys are honest, intelligent, clean and hard working. They know what they are doing and they are "old school." After emailing them through the website, (as they don't have anybody to answer their phones) Dave came out to my place next day. He was prompt and professional and walked me through what was creating the problem with my central heating unit. Basically the electronic filters were acting up and instead of recommending several thousand dollar repair, advised me to replace the electronic filters with basic $4.00 filters from Home Depot. Amazing company. I found Specialized Mechanical on yelp and i was not let down. I spoke to Jon this morning at 10:30am and he was out at my house at 12:30. It is an extremely busy time of year especially with the cold snap so that was amazing he was able to fit me in. I was told by SDG&E that our Ignitor had to be replaced, when Jon and his tech came out they found that it was only the sensor that needed to be cleaned.He also noticed that our furnace model was recalled at one point so he did the necessary safety checks and looks like we are safe.Jon suggested that we start budgeting for a new furnace in the next couple years but also said "if its not broke, don't fix it". Due to the Escondido "winter" setting in, it was time to turn on the furnace. With a infant in the house, we can't get away from not running the furnace at night. Found out that the blower was coming on, but no heat (and when it dips to the upper 30's at night with very little insulation, it does not make for a happy little child). Tyler and Dave stopped out the same day and took a look letting me know the circuit board may be going bad, but they were able to get heat. Unfortunately, that didn't work by the middle of the night so Jon was able to head out first thing the next morning. He made a few more adjustments and we have been nice and toasty since. These guys are the best. After opening a case with my home warranty company, a different HVAC tech was assigned and when I called them to schedule, they said they don't work on my type of system. It took two days for the home warranty company to come through but they found Specialized Mechanical. They came out the next day and resolved the issue.
