I guess at one point or another you are bound to be burned by Yelp and I guess my time has come. Based off the other raving reviews, I contacted SMHA for repair needs for my furnace (in a house I rent) at the end of November. The first visit went good, a part was replaced and the unit was working fine...for about 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, the same sound starting happening again, so I called them for follow-up visit. Since the visit was for the same issue and they are supposed to warranty their work, I figured there would be a minimal, if any, visit charge. The tech came out on 1/5, didn't repair anything and told me to "bang on the unit" to get it to work, and that it was old and the only other option was to replace it (fair opinion, it's 30 years old). This advice cost $154. I relayed this info to my landlord, and she reached out to Jon on 1/13 as to our options for replacement. She was told that he would need to come out and look, and when she inquired as to why they couldn't just give an estimate based on the previous two visits and their knowledge of the unit, he said the person that was there less than a few weeks prior was no longer with the company. Hmmm. In any case, Jon said he would call me. A week went by, no call. On the 20th, I reached out to him and scheduled an apt between 3-5 PM this last Friday. At 3:08 the day of the appointment, I got a voicemail that he couldn't make it. I called him back and left a message at 3:27 to find out when he could come back out. I did not get a call back Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Not until Monday (after being without heat all weekend) did I get a call. I have already taken my business elsewhere. Now, I realize they are not open on the weekends and that is fine. Here are my issues; you never followed up with me like you told my landlord you would and I had to track you down after a week. If you need to reschedule an appointment, understandable, but don't you think you should call the customer back the same day to reschedule the appointment, and not let it go all weekend? As a small business, I am sure there are only a few people checking the messages and could have made a small gesture of a phone call on the weekend apologizing for cancelling the appointment. It certainly would have saved the business. Now, I am forced to go elsewhere to a company that is more reliable. I am sad to say I would not call Specialized mechanical again in the future. read more
