I made the mistake of taking these drives to other places that offered free initial services which ended up being a big mistake as they could not recover a single MB. Mike over at DriveCrash should be the first person you contact if you value your files. Their location is COVID friendly, everyone there wore masks, and there's plenty of parking. After Mike opened up one of my drives, he saw that the previous shop had caused irreversible damage. However, the good news was he was able to recover a portion of the drive which was not as damaged. The second drive had better luck and was able to be fully recovered. Communication was excellent in person, by phone, and through email. Mike was able to provide live updates and walked me through any questions/concerns I had. While data recovery is not the cheapest process, I was given a reasonable price and had my files back within a week. But also, when you have just reformatted your computer and thought you're being all awesome, because you've backed everything up, onto an external HD, but then it falls onto the tile floor, and all it does it beep, you kinda freak out, esp when it's your business that is on that Hard Drive and you just have to trust that someone is able to fix it for you. While I was at it, I had another HD that completely let out on me, not ever dropped or anything so not sure what happened, but figured I'll drop it off as well. The one that dropped, I was pretty confident, could be saved, but the other one, not so much!!!! I was so nervous until I finally heard from them. And, to my surprise, they were able to recover some data from the other hard drive that just gave out on me! I was able to get videos back from when my kids were babies, that I didn't even remember I had backed up, because it's been broken for so long.
