I recently brought in a one year old, very expensive sweater and when I went to pick it up, it had what look like black tire marks across the front of the sweater. The owner stated that it must've been a very old stain and that I brought it in that way which was completely untrue. I'm biased here, because this place is just around the corner from my house, but I love sparkle. The clothes come back in perfect condition and non-chemically-smelly. And they are always done when they say it will be done. My sweaters are nicely folded and (sitting down?) wrapped in plastic and lined with tissue paper. I travel a lot, so being able to just pull things out of the closet that way and stick it in a suitcase is a huge, huge, huge benefit. Plus, the staff is friendly and community based. They remembered me after only a few trips, and now I don't even have to pull out my ticket - they remember which clothes I dropped off. Amazing, amazing. read more

Not great, but way better than the alternative. This place is right around the corner from our apartment. They're a little pricey but they got the job done. I don't have very high standards with dry cleaners - any time nothing is ruined is a good job to me! I have had too many poor experiences with them. This place is a perfectly acceptable dry cleaners. I have been coming to this place for over four years. The owner is friendly and chatty. I bring a weekly load of shirts here and am a regular. They lost my dress shirt recently and it was missing for almost a month. During this time, the owner was not responsive and only issued a check and some store credit ($7) when I pushed her into a corner that the shirt had been missing for over 21 days. The value offered did not even make the 10x cleaning value promised on the back of the claim check. I let it slide as I wanted to maintain goodwill. *However* when she managed to locate the shirt (she had given it to another customer by accident, which she did not admit freely), I gave the check back as promised since the shirt was found, but she insisted the next time I came in that I still owed her for the $7 store credit. Technically this is true, and I paid without hesitation. However, with this type of customer service, nickel and diming a 4+ year weekly customer who was wronged is never the right way to go. I'm not coming back here again and suggest you do the same...they have been losing a lot of clothing lately according to word of mouth. If you are a customer, check your count and clothes carefully when you pick up. read more

Sparkle Cleaner's gave my dry cleaning to someone else with a "similar" name. They then called this person and had them return my clothes. I had to come back in the next morning in order to get my clothes. I asked if there would be any sort of discount for this huge inconvenience only to have the owner yell at me for 5 minutes and then charge me full price. I understand people make mistakes but recognizing and compensating customers for a store's mistake is part of basic customer service. I would have brought my dry cleaning here every two weeks for the next year however due to this terrible customer service I am now writing my first ever online review and will not return to this business. read more

They were great! We took our clothes here often. They're reasonably priced, as we were on a student budget. I even had my wedding dress dry cleaned here (well, I dropped it off here but they sent it out for "specialized cleaning" - I opted to not get the special box they offered). They also did alterations. I took some pants and a coat here to get it hemmed. The staff was always friendly and personable...she always took time to ask how my day was going. They were awful. I brought in a good pair of Italian pants to be dry cleaned. They gave them back with bleached out large spots and the pants had shrunk by at least one size, maybe more. They refused to do anything about it and had the nerve to accuse me of having taken the pants to another dry cleaner, despite my having a receipt. Stay away read more

My expensive bridal gown has lace, embroidery and beads. I specifically asked for special care to protect the delicate part of the gown, and I didn't receive any warning that they don't have the equipment to provide such protection. When I picked it up, a large part of the embroidery was destroyed during the cleaning process. They told me that they sent the gown out to another place where it was cleaned in a machine (not hand cleaned), and that I should expect this kind of damage for delicate fabrics. Also, they first told me to come back and pick up the gown in one week, but it wasn't ready and I had to come back the second time one week later. If you value your wedding gown, don't go to these cleaners. read more

Similar to what happened to another reviewer, the owner lost articles of clothing on multiple occasions. Additionally, they commonly do not have the clothes ready on the day promised. They are reliable and will often rush an order if you need something right away. They also do alterations which has been super! This is the worst place for alterations I've ever seen. The dry cleaning itself is just of average quality. We've dry cleaned wool jacket there, it was fine after cleaning, but can be significantly better. But we also asked them to shorten two pairs of jeans. That was done even not like a novice, but much-much worse. The stitches on one pair were not stratight at all. Looked like made by absolutely drunk person. Another pair of jeans came out to full of wrinkles at the bottom. The person even didn't pay attention to straighten the jeans at the bottom while stitching. All these were noticed by my wife who is not a professional in this business at all. Yes, we returned to Sparkle Cleaners and asked to do stitching once again. However, instead of admitting their slapdash immediately, we had to spend 15 minutes trying to persuade them that it is a slapdash. Finally, with words "It's a waste of time" they surrendered and accepted jeans for re-stitching. The last, but not the least, is that they charge actually a lot. Comparable and even more expensive to what I paid for alteations on Newbury street. Taking into account that their lease is significantly cheaper, the service must be significantly better for the same price. Anyway, make alterations at Sparkle Cleaners only if you have very-very-very low expectations regarding result. read more

i have had to bring back every other piece that they cleaned because spots, stains or simply dirt were not removed. they came back the second time clean - but why not the first time? they are also expensive, maybe 20-50% above other cleaners for specialty items like cushion and sofa covers. service is luke warm, i did not get the feeling that my business was appreciated. read more
