My glasses from my previous eye glass place a block away was more accurate. This place charge me for clearity which is nothing but clear. They charge me for fog less glasses. I can't even see my tv. Night driving is a disaster. My old glasses were way much better and I see better with my old glasses. These suck. All they had to was change my perception that apparently better then theirs. Looks good but not good read more

My wife and I have been patients of Dr Collini for many years. He is absolutely amazing and the only reason we remained thereAfter picking up 2 glasses today 8/7/26 I will never return there again. The worker who remains unamed was beyond incompetent and antagonistic.Had no clue about what my distance and reading glasses were and had them reversed. He was beyond confrontational and was looking for an altercation.Initially he said is name was Steve but retracted that later. After asking the staff at the desk his name they wouldnt give it. I also asked for the owner to report him and they would not give his contact info to me, could have been him for all I know.I spent 890.00 on 2 lens replacements, no frames included. I see absolutely no difference in distance or reading with these so called new prescriptions.I will be perusing a refund . Myself and my family will no longer be patients at this location again.Would not let me leave zero stars which is why it shows 1 read more

I was hesitant because of the reviews. But let me tell you, I had an AMAZING experience. Front desk.. very pleasant. Barely any wait time to meet the Dr. did a thorough examination and was patient with me and didn't make me feel rushed. Then I had to pick out my lens.. this is when my experience went from really good to WOW!!! I met Theresa. Can't say enough about her. She was so helpful and honest helping me pick out my new frames. What a doll!!! This place and especially THERESA made my experience a great one. Just picked up my new glasses and my progressive lens are perfect. Theresa was there again to help fit them. Ugh. Wonderful place!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

I've never had such a disappointing experience with an eyeglass store. I brought in my glasses for repair, and the store actually broke the bridge. I was told I'd get my original glasses back, but weeks went by, and I was repeatedly given the runaround--only to eventually be told they couldn't be found. After all that, the store offered me a replacement pair, but the new glasses are noticeably poor quality. They fog up constantly, don't match my original prescription, and just feel cheap overall. When I tried to get the issue resolved, I spent weeks calling and following up, only to be told it was the ophthalmologist's fault. My eye doctor confirmed that the prescription is correct--the problem is the glasses themselves. I'm now stuck with subpar glasses and no resolution after weeks of back-and-forth. This was handled very poorly from start to finish, and I wouldn't recommend this store to anyone. read more

Instead of being thrilled to have your business, and your insurance money, they will shake you down for extra fees for work done on glasses you haven't bought there. Secondly, their glasses selection is not good, and their lower level front desk staff need serious customer service training. Avoid. read more

I walked in to a fairly empty store to look for glasses frames for a prescription they prescribed. No one acknowledged me though there were about 3 workers around. You can't try glasses on because they are behind glass and thought they were all busy so I waited just browsing the glass cases. After about 5-10 min of no one even saying that they will be with me shortly or anything, I walked out to make a phone call. About 10 minutes later I walked back in and THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED! I stood there, ignored for a few min and was so turned off that I left. I'm in customer service and to not acknowledge a customer for 10 minutes is not only rude, it's insulting. read more

So many bad Google reviews for a reason. They can't seem to hold on to their best employees. Our favorite was Darla. We were told that the owner treats his employees badly and has a very high turnover. Won't be going back. read more

Hi Jeff and Doctor Colinni, today I went into spare pair to replace a contact that ripped. I ask for one and wanted to pay for it. I keep on coming back as Dr. Colinni has been my only eye doctor for years. Today it was unpleasant speaking to front desk and the guy who works there didn't confirm which Kaplan I was and brought out wrong chart. Regardless, Melissa was there and handled my concern in a split second. I understand that people might be new or come from a different location, but please be a human being and looking at computers and getting wrong charts. I am still giving my review since you have Melissa as your store manager which knows how to listen and take care of clients. Thank you. read more

I am a longtime customer/patient at Spare Pair, going to Dr Collini from the beginning. He is fantastic. While going through my exam I had the pleasure of being helped by Darla Taubman, assisting with my selection of a new pair of glasses. I wanted to try a new style, but was not sure what exactly. Darla was extremely professional and patient in allowing me to try dozens of frames, giving me honest opinions and helping me narrow down my options til I finally found an awesome and completely different style - she had unique instincts, creativity, and really cared about my needs. I highly recommend your asking for Darla when it's your turn to find your new favorite frames. She is the best! read more

I had an eye exam at the Manalapan office by Francesca Collini, OD and was very impressed with her. I was in the optical business for 30 years, so she spoke to me in a "language" I understood. Her professionalism was top notch! Plus, she made me aware that Medicare would pay for the extra tests she performed which saved me some money. I highly recommend Dr. Francesca Collini and Spare Pair II read more

Do not go there! After Dr Lynn left I continued with a new woman Dr. My eyesight has gotten very bad in a matter of months. even with glasses/contacts I felt something was wrong. she told me it was in my head and acuse me of exaggerating symptoms. she even refused to sign papers for my job so I wouldn't have to work with fine print. The girls at the desk are rude and nasty to boot. I went to see a real eye dr a Opthemologist, I had grade 4 cataracts! No wonder I couldn't see and why the fast progression in my eyesight. It wasn't in my head! I got surgery and now I can see without glasses or contacts. They are awful at Spare pair and so are Drs! Opthemologist said she was a horrible Dr and I needed surgery. That's why I was seeing halos and spots in front of me. I even got a 3 rd opinion and was told get surgery. Do not go this dump, you will regret it! read more

ANYTHING TO NOT COVER A WARRANTY!!! Don't expect to have your eyeglass warranty covered at Spare Pair. The INCOMPETENT staff will argue with you that you have to go through your health insurance. Idiots!!!!! If, as a business you offer a warranty, one would think your insurance policy is removed from this transaction; apparently not at Spare Pair. Obviously these morons aren't familiar with consumer protection laws. I suggest they learn b/c I will be filing a complaint with the state attorney general's office. read more

Fair prices, great service, and huge selection of frames- what more could you ask for in an eyeglass store? After seeing an eyeglass coupon in the local paper, I came in hoping to get an updated pair of specs. From the minute I walked in, I was given thoughtful and helpful service. The sales lady who assisted me listened to my preferences, talked me through my insurance benefits, and told me what would probably be best given my price range and prescription. Even though she gave me a lot of options regarding lenses and frames, she gave very good advice about what would be best for my needs. We walked through a huge selection of frames, from brand names to more affordable options. Even the brand names were a huge discount compared to your standard LensCrafters or Pearle Vision. At the end of the day, I received thorough service at an amazing price- can't complain about that at all! I'd recommend this place for anyone looking for a trendy pair of specs or sunglasses at a nice price. Needless to say, I'm coming back here for my next pair of glasses. read more

Spare Pair III - Huge selection of frames! - Optometrists Near Me - Manalapan, New Jersey

I have been going to this location for almost three years. Everyone at the front desk is very friendly. I see Dr. Alcala- she is very sweet and gentle and takes her time with you. I never felt rushed or pressured by her. Today I worked with Shannon, I told her I had a budget for the glasses and she made sure that we stayed between the range I felt comfortable spending. Thanks for the great service Shannon and Dr. Alcala! read more

My elderly mother and I have been customers for Spare Pair for several years. As we walked in, we were greeted by Mike. He assisted my mother in selecting eyeglass frames. After patiently listening to our requirements for the type of frames which best fit her, he carefully selected frames for her. Mike also took the time to assist my mother onto a chair to ensure she would be sitting comfortably while he was taking measurements. Additionally, he adjusted the nose pads on the eyeglasses to ensure a more comfortable fit. His thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated and should be commended. One can see Mike is very courteous, accommodating, demonstrates extreme professionalism and knowledgeable of all the products. He made every effort to ensure she was happy with her selection and the fit was correct. It was a very pleasant experience and I highly recommend this establishment. read more

We have been using Dr. Collini for about 15 years now. The office has state of the art equipment.... This I know because I had gone to another optometrist for about a year who took my insurance yet it was an awful experience. I ended up coming back to Dr. Collini, paying out of pocket because he and his office staff are extremely knowledgeable and top-notch. So throughout the years I've been very very satisfied but today, on a busy Saturday, I needed help with processing two rebates with acuvue. Melissa took the time to help me go online and process two rebates totaling $500. All in all I think their care is very professional and I really wouldn't trust anyone else with the care of our eyes. I highly recommend Spare Pair. read more

My wife and I have vision insurance thru vsp, the Spare pair gladly accepts their insurance. The process is fairly simple. The folks run your insurance and let you know what you are entitled to, exam, frames, lenses etc. Spare pair has a tremendous selection of eyeglass and sunglass frames for all the budgets. The doctor was fantastic, extremely friendly and provided my wife and I with a thorough exam. I was impressed with the amount of employees there milling about offering help and advice. My wife and I chose our frames and settled on a cost. We left a deposit for our glasses, the office called us a few hours later to let us know that they made a mistake and the glasses would be a few dollars more and would that be ok. I like that they confirmed the change. Glasses were completed within a week. My wife and I were fitted and on my way. Now I will say that there are a ton of online eyeglass companies where you can get bargain basement frames and lenses but fit is always a challenge.....check out the Spare pair if in need. read more

My husband had an appointment this morning with Dr. Collini, what a wonderful doctor and gentlemen! He is such a caring, professional doctor who provided my husband with a very thorough eye exam. Next Shannon, was so helpful when my husband had to select new frames. She was patient, nice, and very informative. Shannon was instrumental in helping him select frames that fit his face perfectly. I want to thank Stacy & the staff for helping my daughter with fixing 2 pairs of her non prescription, over the counter sunglasses (not purchased there). There were several issues & I thought they were goners. But Stacy welcomed us & without batting an eye, took glasses to the back. In 5 minutes she return them, good as new! When I took out my wallet, she just said "absolutely not, it's on the house". I will absolutely return to Spare Pair should I need glasses in the future. Excellent service! Going on high recomendations from clients. I expected good not great costumer service..What I got was a most uncomfortable shopping experience. The salesman who helped me did not offer ANY suggestions once i informed him of the style i was looking for. I pointed out one pair of glasses and was pressured from there on to purchase THAT pair.. I felt rushed and pressured.. when i mentioned i would like to try on some other pairs. He made NO suggestions and just glared at me. Having done my research on the internet I realized eyeglass shopping was something i needed personal service for.. this i did not receive at Spare Pair. In fact I was practicaly pushed out the door and back to the internet. In a world where Internet verses brick and mortar.. Internet won once again read more

After a disastrous episode at Pearle where they pulled a bait and switch, I was so happy I ended up here. They actually had a much better selection than Pearle and prices were much better. Kate Spade Miranda glasses at Pearl were $269, at Spare Pair III they were $210. My somewhat complicated lenses were $330 at Spare Pair III, a whopping $1014 at Pearle, and that is comparing apples with apples - same prescription, coating, etc. They actually bent over backwards to get me the frames I wanted, in the size I wanted. As for the "tall woman with long black hair" about whom another reviewer made disparaging remarks, she took lots of time helping me choose frames, her suggestions were excellent and she took time to answer questions I had. I think her business-like attitude was taken for "stuck-up." While I was happily contemplating $250 frames, she brought over a pair of $99 frames that she thought would be flattering. She actually expressed that she thought they looked better than the $250 frames. So much for "they'll do anything to make a buck." The only way you could do better, price-wise, would be to order on the internet, and then you would have no one to turn to if you have problems, your glasses would not be custom fit to your face, and you wouldn't know what they would look like on you until they came. I am a fan. read more

Don't waste your time if you actually want to be able to see. They take weeks to get you glasses and contacts. They also will not let you have a second copy of your prescription without you having to come in to get it yourself. I am so happy to have found a new place so that I never have to return to this poor excuse for a vision center. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I've been coming here for many years and the doctors have always been great. However, the front desk staff members have proven to be unwilling to help, unprofessional, and rude. It's a shame because many of the staff members are really nice and helpful, but a select few are just lazy and almost unwilling to do the very job that they are getting paid to do. The female receptionist with short hair and glasses is especially passive aggressive and seems to enjoy gossiping with other employees about patients/customers, so I would hope that there is an opportunity to retrain her specifically. But of course, it may be difficult to teach that old dog new tricks. read more

The doctor in the office was great probably 1 of the best in the area Doctor John Collini will be the only reason I ever step foot in this location again. But the staff working the front desk and the vibe in the office is horrendous. All snobby stuck up Manalapan b@&$hes. Condensing non professional. Would not recommend going to this place just due to office staff and there attitudes. At some point I wish they will realize that they are only human and treat people the way they would like to be treated. I honestly can't say a good thing about the staff that works the front room or the Optician. I have been using this office for my glasses for years every time buying 2-3 pairs and spending over $1000 each time. I will never ever buy a single pair of glasses from this company or store in towne pointe Manalapan ever again. Customer experience is everything and if you can't provide that get a new job. read more

My family is new to the area and we needed to find a good eye doctor. My neighbor recommended that we try Spare Pair. The said that her family had been coming there since they opened twenty something years ago. The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and looked up my insurance even though I wasn't sure what insurance I had. Dr.Alcala was amazing. She found a freckle on the back of my eye that my old doctor never saw. I took a peek at their frames and the selection was great and the prices were very good especially compared with the mall. I made an appointment for my kids next week and I plan to pick out glasses with them. I'm so glad I found this place! read more

Terrible experience due to lack of training and laziness from the front desk. They indicated my insurance was not accepted. Reluctantly I paid full price for the exam because I needed a prescription purchase new glasses. After leaving I contacted my insurance company and advised me that I was COVERED! The insurance rep contacted Spare Pair and told them they had to refund the payment I made to them. I had already left and had to waste more time out of my day to go back to the store and get my refund. If the front desk has done their job and not assumed my insurance was not accepted. I should say my doctor was great and took her time (so this review is no reflection on her). read more

Within the last year, I had accompanied my girlfriend when she got her glasses. At Spare Pair in Englishtown. At the time, I inquired about insurance coverage for myself. During today's visit, I requested Rosemarie based on my friend's experience. Surprisingly, When Rosemarie came out, she remembered me from the previous visit from almost a year before! She supervised another employee who was trying to look up the this unique program on the computer. Before we started looking at glasses we worked out how the insurance plan I had worked. She was very helpful and made the entire experience a pleasure. At the end Rosmarie told me the glasses would probably be ready on Tuesday. They are really only worried about making money, selling you extra services. Good Customer service is only availabIe if there is something in it for them. I've gone there for a few years now and never really loved the place. But it wasn't that awful. I would watch how they treated customers with any kind of problem. Most times they were brushed off. Today, I had trouble with a sample contact. Jeff (he might be an owner) tried to sell me another eye exam when my last one was only 6 months ago. Really? I accompanied my husband to an eye exam at a different company and saw the difference in the type of eye exam. I will be going somewhere else for my glasses in the future. You should too! read more

Not a good experience at all.. the Dr. was very pleasant to deal with but the customer service is lacking, awful experience for an eye physician's office.
