They didn't reduce the broth mixture into a sauce at all. I've had better dishes at Applebee's, if I'm being honest. And if you want any Parmesan to top off your dish, you are getting cheese from a shaker. They do not have freshly grated. Even Olive Garden offers that! Do yourself a favor and spend your money elsewhere. You can get much higher quality food for this price (or less) at other local restaurants.

But fairness requires this. Last night at Douro, my wife and I had our best Portland dining experience in quite some time. The atmosphere and welcoming service are as good as everyone says. I understand that some of the non-5-star reviews had inconsistent experiences with their food. All I can say to that is that perhaps with more time they have "worked out the kinks" because every course--every bite--we had last night was near perfection and totally hit the spot for being a little different for Portland. We each got a red sangria to start, and would highly recommend for sangria lovers. For small plates, we shared the Salt Cod Croquettes and the Zucchini; we then shared the Tuna Crudo, for entrees, my wife had the Mushroom Porridge and I had the fish special, which was Roasted Halibut. Everything was cooked perfectly and with wonderful flavor. Our waitress recommended a Portuguese white wine that went perfectly with the Halibut. We were ready to pass on dessert only because we were full, but our waitress could see we were torn so she offered to bring us a "taste" of something new to get our feedback (I think she was just being generous). It was a small slice of a custard pie, about 2-3 bites for each of us, and it was absolutely delicious and satisfying and turned out to be all that we needed, although we would happily order full portions next time and take some home if need be. Perfect date night location, although also great for couples so that you can order more of the small plates for sharing. It is served with a harrissa sauce on the side. It came with 3 puck size pieces. The flavor, the texture and the sauce all went perfectly together. So good! We also had the smoked fish pate which came with house made giant potato chips. The fish was trout, and apparently this changes based on the day. It was also fantastic! As my meal, I got the steak tartare and although technically I think it's in the appetizer section, the portion size is more like a meal. It is as absolutely perfect. Dressed with a slightly sharp dressing with capers and an egg yolk, and on the side the same house giant potato chips. It is fantastic. I've had the steak tartare here before...it see it as a special treat. First because there aren't many restaurants that serve it, and second because it isn't something I would make for myself at home. I highly recommend! Check out the pictures of it. If you've never had it before, this one is served French style where the steak is chopped up into tiny pieces.
