During my time there, the owner, Leroy, regularly made sexually inappropriate comments during classes and open studio hours. Statements such as "lubrication is essential" and "saddle up and ride it like you'd ride your wife" were said openly, including during classes where minors were present. These remarks occurred repeatedly and made me increasingly uncomfortable. On one occasion, Leroy patted me on the butt. That incident is what ultimately prompted me to speak with him, as I felt a clear boundary had been crossed. Prior to that, I began coming to the studio very early in the morning around 6:00 a.m. Specifically to avoid interactions with him, since he typically did not arrive until late morning. During this time, a younger member confided in me that she felt uncomfortable due to repeated sexual comments made toward her. She told me that after she raised her concerns directly, she was removed from the studio shortly afterward. Hearing this further confirmed my decision to speak up. When I raised my concerns about the repeated sexual comments and the physical contact, Leroy accused me of taking an apron from the studio and told me to pack up my things and leave. "Can you say deflection" LOL!!! About a week prior, I had told him I planned to have an apron copied by a seamstress, and he suggested making ten. I did take the apron to explore this, but ultimately decided not to proceed after being advised that it would not be practical or cost-effective. The apron was in my car and was immediately returned. I also developed concerns about cleanliness and health. The studio was consistently dusty, including in glazing areas. Cleanliness is critical in a ceramics studio, as many glaze materials and fine dust particles can be hazardous when inhaled over time. I later learned that prolonged exposure to silica dust can be dangerous and that proper safety practices, ventilation, and education are important. These were not explained to me during my time there. If you are considering spending your money here, I strongly recommend looking at other studios as well. While they may be more expensive, they may also offer a cleaner, healthier, and more professional environment. I am sharing this review based solely on my own experience and what I personally witnessed so others can decide whether this studio is right for them. I am much happier at my new studio, which is clean, professional, and an environment where I feel comfortable and respected.

The people were very nice and welcoming and the event was well organized and communication was excellent! The venue was the best I've experienced any where. I've attended a lot of workshops and classes and gir in instructions and demos all students are usually tightly clustered around the presenter trying to get a view of what is happening. Even though I'm a taller person I'm usually unsuccessful and find myself craning my neck and bobbing around as those in front adjust their positions. Very frustrating! But not here!!! You have the option to do that or you can stay at your OWN 6 foot table and watch one of the 3 huge screens the demonstrator is projected upon. There's a W-ASH person managing the camera zooming in and out on the work or the pallet and sometime both. It works really well. And if there's a new tool involved sometimes the artist will demonstrate for fewer people again and again. The space is truly amazing. Parking was easily had on the street. Note: the elevator is out but is being worked in. The workshop is up one flight of stairs. oh.... and downstairs! there's a gallery showcasing watercolor works and there's a sales area too. Great place! so glad I took the effort to get there! And my work from the workshop didn't turn out too bad either! I hope to go back!

The AT&T vendor was also present did and that person went and got us the little form that you're supposed to fill out while you're making your diffuser. There were times slots you had to sign up for. This was not regulated or enforced if you will. People took our spots and mind you our slot was 630 so you know we could've gone to dinner or done something else. I just feel the whole thing was a waste of my time. The level of attention, detail, and guidance throughout the two-hour session is truly unmatched. My table included six women celebrating a "Spring Into Friendship" social event. Together, we were able to try 72 different scents across top, middle, and base notes to create something unique and complementary to our natural body chemistry. I loved the clear instructions, the pacing of the session, and the R&B playlist that felt like a sweet throwback to my aunt's playlist she used to blast on her living room stereo set in the '90s. One of the things I love about Black Phlox is that every visit is guaranteed to feel new. Each table is given a different curated set of scents to work from, so no two experiences are exactly alike. Dr. Rica even pulled out a few special "vault" scents during our session that included deeper, more intense fragrances that are used sparingly, but added richness and character to the final blends. The interaction with Missy, Tasha, and Dr. Rica made the experience feel intimate and fun, like I was hanging out with my cool, older cousins. Not once did I feel rushed. Even when I had a little hiccup while pouring my scent into the bottle, Tasha and Missy jumped in to help me correct it so I could leave completely satisfied with what I'd created. The pricing was more than fair. You have the option to upsize your bottle, and they even offer 50% off if you return and remake the same scent, which is something I've never seen offered in other custom scent classes. The value, the experience, and the meaningful interaction make this a go-to recommendation for me. The icing on the cake is that you get to bring your own bottle of wine and/or alcohol for just a $2 cork fee. They provide cups and ice, and the space is filled with good conversation, plenty of cackles lol, and community energy you won't find anywhere else. After our session ended, we spent at least another hour laughing, taking pictures, and finishing our prosecco. Not once did we feel hurried or unwelcome. That kind of hospitality is rare and speaks volumes. I also learned that Black Phlox offers interactive perfume and cologne-making stations for events like weddings. We had two brides-to-be in our group, and they were thoughtfully gifted in-house made candle wax melts along with their custom perfume purchases, which was a beautiful and personal touch that made the night even more special. It's a beautiful space built by even more beautiful women, and I love hearing their stories and seeing how they've turned inspiration into a thriving business. I'm proud to support Black Phlox and will keep returning again and again.

This time, the class was a manageable size with 2 instructors. I feel like class went SO much better and I made a lot more progress on my project. The teacher was able to catch some of my mistakes and correct them and I was also able to ask questions. I'm really glad I gave it another try, and I'm looking forward to finishing my project.

I told her she was breaking the federal law then she offered me a spot way in the back by myself so no one would complain. I immediately asked for a refund as that was discriminatory. I cannot believe I was treated this way trying to learn a new hobby. But now reading the other reviews it seems I have dodged a bullet by not taking this class.
