An improperly installed dishwasher flooded under our hardwood floors. We called our insurance company and Spangler Restoration responded promptly and handled the mitigation. That was the end of anything positive from them. We were linked with Spangler Restoration through Contractor Connection. All work was supposed to have a five year guarantee. Spanglers subcontractor completely messed up the installation, sanding, and finishing of solid hardwood floors. Spangler said they would have the floors repaired and refinished. Then they demanded we sign a new contract that stated- NO GUARANTEES. We refused to sign and asked that contract language be changed to floors will be repaired to industry standard. Spangler just kept emailing us the "no guarantee" contract. Yesterday we were informed that Spangler is withdrawing from completing our restoration. Spangler has delayed for over eight months and driven up the cost of this project needlessly. They, and their subcontractors, have caused significant damage. They broke our granite countertop, damaging the wall and breaking the windowsill. They broke all of the cabinets they removed. They broke wood molding in our dining room and damaged baseboards throughout the first floor. These items are not repaired/replaced yet. None of this costly damage is included on their invoice! This is in addition to having installed and finished hardwood flooring incorrectly. Entire floor has to be replaced. Spangler came into our home, provided us with a contract to complete the repairs, and almost nine months later are leaving, with no work completed and a huge mess. Spangler Restoration Review We had work done recently with Spangler Restoration. A water pipe in our attic burst in the severe cold weather back in January of this year. We were not in the house at that time and it went three days before a neighbor noticed. Both floors of the house were soaked. We were devastated. Lewis and his team from Spangler did a fabulous job! They were incredible with the mitigation, getting it dried out completely in just seven days. I was amazed. I would recommend Spangler for any restoration work. Jacob, project manager, was also stellar, in his calm, knowledgeable way, reassuring my wife (who uses English as a second language, and struggles with it). We had a major flood event- almost 200k worth of damage. The only bright spot in the year it took to get everything back to normal was SpangleR- it's people are amazing- empathetic, efficient, kind and thorough. Pam headed up the first phase- and she is exceptional. We've moved 14 times, but never had our house contents packed so carefully. Pam treats all those on her crew with kindness and respect- seamlessly using a translation app when necessary. Boxes were carefully labeled and catalogued, and we were able to retrieve the first floor contents so we could move back in before Xmas. Hanging pictures was easy because each was labeled with its exact position on the wall. Unfortunately, the reconstruction arm of the company was too busy - probably due to Western Carolina floods, so we had to go elsewhere for that aspect of the project. read more

Service was for water damage caused by plumbing back up. Very Very disappointed in their service. Left bathroom very dirty with minimum cleanup. Broke a piece of floor tile when removing the baseboard Failed to plug in some of the fans they brought in & plugged dehumidifiers & fans on the same circuit causing breaker to trip making them ineffective. Exercised little caution when removing baseboard resulting in excessive damage to drywall. Their attitude seemed to be "get er done" without any caution or attention to detail. Threaded to file a lien against the property even though insurance company sent check directly to them. read more

Looks like two 1-star reviews on Google reviews within the last 7 months. Here's another! They were on the insurance company's 'good list'. Not good at all. The initial 'restoration' was a PAINT-OVER on the damaged drywall from water intrusion. After I confronted the Operations Mgr about the paint-over and stolen items, they had a smaller renovation company do the restoration work -- this smaller company did an awesome job. Their employees worked hard, were quiet, polite and worked well in teams. Their subcontractor STOLE my wallpaper...necessitating a complete renovation of the room and purchasing new wallpaper. "Don't worry, it won't cost you a penny. ERIE will pay for all of it." Started out being less than $4,000 project became three times that amount. I caught them doing paint-overs, never removing the damaged drywall and insulation. Their preferred HVAC company didn't know how to reset the air handler...same size air handler in same size cubby and they couldn't make it fit. Left with huge gap in the ceiling and TURNED ON the air conditioning. Discovered condensation leaking from the ceiling and previously damaged drywall falling INTO the air handler. They state the air handler filter could have been cleaned because 'we clean HVACs from fire, water and bio losses' all the time. The wet drywall had become hardened plaster on the filter...not the same type of loss! As a restoration company, you know better than to treat your customers like they are stupid!! I saw drywall debris and dust falling into my air handler!! Their final position is 'no photo evidence' to support claim of air handler damage! So denying all accountability... Supposed to have had a licensed plumber for water lines. Left water lines facing upward, uncapped and just turned off the water from water heater...so no hot water in my home! Ok, if I could have I would have selected NO stars. This company should be avoided at all costs. We had a tree destroy our home, and reached out to SpangleR to review the damage and repairs to provide an estimate. From the beginning we started to experience issues, it took us reaching out numerous times just to get someone to our home to review the scope of the repairs. Someone did come out to take photos and map the areas of repairs, which was then submitted to the estimating team. We were assigned an estimator Melissa, but the process hit the skids at that point. The first couple of weeks we received no updates, so i tried to contact our Melissa the estimator 2-3 times with no luck. So, I called the main office, and at that point I was told that Melissa the estimator was dealing with COVID. I totally get that, I don't want anyone to have to deal with that terrible disease. But why did I have to call to find this out, shouldn't they as a company been proactive and pivoted to keep the process moving? Once we moved past that delay, we had a visit from Melissa the estimator to answer some questions. Which we did, at that point we were told that it would be 2-3 weeks to complete the estimate. After not hearing anything from Melissa the estimator I reached out via text and phone calls, but radio's silence. After being really frustrated not hearing anything, I called the main office again and asked to speak to the Operations Manager Jason Williams. But of course, my call went straight to VM. Jason did call me back around 6PM. But that is when Spangler showed their true colors, instead of trying to figure out how to help us with our concerns, Jason decided he would dig his heals in and tell us that we haven't received an estimate is because we haven't signed a contract with SpangleR ! I have worked with a lot of contractors, and I have NEVER had to sign a contract with a company before receiving the first estimate. Something that was NEVER mentioned to us up to this point as a requirement to receive an estimate. Totally shady, if they can't get these simple first steps I can only imagine the sh*t show it would have been through the permitting and construction process. After a loss, State Farm Insurance recommended Spangler as a preferred vendor. This was September of 2021. Three months later, Spangler QUIT, without doing a day's actual construction, and returned the deposit check, claiming they "couldn't find a tile guy." So now, we're at Ground Zero, and have to start all over again with a new company. State Farm was aghast, and ensured us they'd rebuke the company. So what happens with Spangler...are they closing down because they can't do any jobs...or are they picking cash jobs over insurance work? William, you can make up excuses, the reason I put up with the garbage that is Spangler as long as I did, is I had hoped you would listen to the feedback from the employee you terminated. But, you terminated that person because they refused to stop calling the company on the horrible performance. Your horrible performance is the issue. Excuses are not going to cut it. The bottom line is this, you have zero integrity and absolutely no clue how to handle large loss, antique furniture or basic skills with insurance estimation. One example of so many, subs were smoking in our home, I had to raise cain about it, then you put up a no smoking sign. Wow, that seems pretty basic, common sense. But you even needed someone to tell your PM that. Three months before work started on the house - you want to blame the insurance company and hold no responsibility. On 09/09/2019, I had a very large tree fall on my house during a storm. I called my insurance company and they contacted Spangler. I thought all was going to be ok after that. That was my mistake I should have got my own people. They sent a tree guy out to the cost of 27,500 dollars and he never told me how much the cost would be until I got the Bill and Spangler stated they had nothing to do with him. Long story short the roof they put on 3 years ago now has issues and they only want to repair the 19 areas that have the issues, and have a mismatched roof. I would never recommend this company. Very disappointed!!! Our pipe came a part under our kitchen cabinet and flooded our floor. On January 26th our insurance company sent you guys out to ripe up our flooring and put down fans to dry the floor. Another guy came out three days later to pick the fans up and we have not heard from you guys since!! The quality of the work was very good indeed, especially the detail work by Mike. Shannon's project management was really helpful. This was a big job at a very difficult time due to pandemic issues affecting workforce and supply, so it got stretched out. Shannon always responded very promptly to our queries, even outside of normal working hours. As we are foreigners, and were overseas for most of the contract period, her friendly manner and ability to inform us as to how things work in the US was a great help. The last visit the Spangler representative told me it should be completed less than two weeks. Receive a call the following week telling me to "find another contractor." Just wanted to give a shout-out to Spangler Restoration Company. I recently had water damage inside a house I own in Winston-Salem (where my daughter lives) and, because I live in Raleigh, I expected having it taken care of would be a nightmare, but Spangler proved me wrong. Mike worked with my daughter to get the clean-up done and Erin worked with her to schedule the repairs, they kept me in the loop, and the people who actually did the work did a great job! The area was left immaculate after the cleanup and repair, the repairs looked great, the window treatments were re-hung, and everything was done in a very timely manner. As I said, Spangler made what I thought would be a less-than-desirable ordeal so easy! The insurance company only approved a partial repair. Shannon told me the roofer said if I didn't get the extra work done my roof would still leak. The roofers did not take pictures to request the additional work from the insurance company. The employees that showed up were polite however I asked multiple times how much this was going to roughly cost (while my husband filled out the paperwork) and they skirted the question and never would give me an idea of cost. They kept saying well they will contact you with costs and options. A week later I received a bill for $928 and there was still a giant hole in my ceiling that needed to be repaired. $928!! I am still trying to figure out what they did that cost that and was worth that. Then they sent me a quote for almost $5K for areas of my house that were nowhere close to the problem area and charges quoted to "detach and reset ceiling fan" - WHY are you touching my ceiling fan?? And $200 for debris removal?? What debris? Then they told me that they didn't do payment options that I would have to go through Greensky which I never could get into to apply for credit, so they said they were sending a warning letter for a lien on my house and it has only been a month since I received a bill!! I am very disappointed in the quality of work by some of the contractors that this company had work on my my home and my Splangler contractor coordinator. The first issue was my water occured on 9/4/18. The water restoration aspect of the company were prompt (which was the same day) to drying my home. But action afterwards were less then desirable. It took until the second week in November to have contractors come to my home for repairs. Their excuse was we had 2 hurricanes that occurred "We were busy sorry". FYI my damages occurred way before the hurricanes and I live in Huntersville North Carolina. During several unanswered messages and even one person stating "I think you have the wrong company"... Now it is November and I see some moment from this company. The Splangler contractor coordinator was not really in my best interest at all! She was half present throughout the whole process. Eventhough the painters were professional... And they did what they were assigned to do PAINT. Eventhough there was some dry wall water damage which was not repaired. It was painted over and I was told it was not in the estimate to fix. Now lets get to the floor repair of wood press flooring. I was told by my contractor coordinator that they would start with the downstairs first so make sure breakable items were placed in a secure area. Two days prior to that date I did as I was told. On the start date I received a text from my Splangler coordinator stating her contractor states items were not put up?? Well they started UP STAIRS! When I got home from work I was meet with Monster cans and string cheese thrown downs everywhere. With remainder of the downstairs floor torn out. Upstairs the new carpet was down but my breakable items tossed in non affected rooms (I had two items broken). Then I get a text from my Splangler coordinator stated how do you like your wood floors really??? I immediately called her and said the workers left my house indoors like some outdoor alley and they didn't start downstairs but upstairs. She proceeds to say "Oh I am sorry I don't trust this particular contractor anyway and we had a few complaints". But you have them in my home. I should have stopped the process. I even called the company to speak we her supervisor... No response. The floor contractors continued with there job and place the down flooring in. They look and feel horrible. I had two representatives come in and state it was construction on my 2015 home that was the problem. My floors and walls were smooth prior to the water damage. Go figure! Today I just received a bill (at least they were prompt with invoice) that was $5000 over the original estimate. Not satisfied or happy. read more

I did not realized the amount of work that needed to be put in and it was very stressful. Gwen and her team moved fast, giving me updates and advice along the way. She was my advocate throughout this process, making sure I got what I needed in a timely manner. I also worked with Sam in the main office at Spangler as well when we ran into a rare insurance issue 4 months later. Sam was so kind, patient and gracious with me as I tried to understand what happened. She went above and beyond to help me out and I am beyond grateful. Very unhappy with the horrible job. After a water heater flood, Spangler tore out the lower kitchen cabinets and laminate flooring throughout my park model home in Boone. In doing so, they broke the dishwasher connection which rendered the dishwasher as junk! Also, several places wallpaper was torn up the wall and the refrigerator got a dimple dent. Cabinet door fronts ere saved by them for use in replacement cabinets, but they lost them! Lip service was given to address these issues by their manager, but never any follow through or payment for damages. They promise things but NEVER deliver. If you have a mold issue do not use this company. I can't speak for other aspects but they move slower than any customer service company I have ever seen in my life. The project management aspect of their company is beyond pitiful from the people we can across and it took months to finish the smallest job in a small condo unit. I work at an apartment community and we had a flood. It damaged several residents items and also caused severe damage to storage units in our building. I remembered to call Spangler restoration because their rep, Jamie, is super nice and did a lunch and learn with us so that we would know how to handle situations like this. She walked us through how to handle everything and had one of her guys named Bob come out almost immediately. They were able to get everything cleaned and repaired and back to the way it was in no time and they even followed up with me before I had a chance to call them. I don't have any complaints about the process and the customer service was phenomenal. I hope I never need them again for restoration LOL but if I do ever have any future needs they'll definitely be my first call! read more
