First, the people aspect of Southern Star is just fantastic. Just wonderful people and having Christy handle the Customer Service and Jonny doing the estimates just fine people and a barometer to the service and work you get from Southern Star. What they did for me were roof repairs on about a 10 year home. The real reason Southern Star should be a must call for homeowners is I have solar panels. There was some roof damage, caused by squirrels, that precipitated us needing roof repairs. Well, if you have a solar array on your home just getting someone to just look at it has its challenges. Southern Star was the only company I got a response. The only one out of 5. Sure there are logistics to work through when you have solar panels. At the end of the day, the quote given was very reasonable and they were able to do the necessary repairs ASAP. Just surprises all around. If you need repairs on your roof, you should not hesitate to put Southern Star at the top. They are truly super stars in a business that may not have the best of reputations. Thanks to you all. read more

Started getting estimates to replace our 25+ year old roof and our insurance agent suggested Southern Star so we gave them a call. The estimate was scheduled promptly and the estimator Rhett was friendly and professional. Their estimate was in the middle of the 3 we received, but $2,000 higher than the roofing company we hired to install our new roof. When I texted Rhett to tell him we had gone with a roofing company whose estimate was more budget friendly for us, within moments I received a hard sell text telling me how the brand of shingles they used were far superior to any other brand of shingles out there and that I needed to consider that in making my decision. Believe me since this was the first new roof on my house in 25+ years I did my research on shingle brands and didn't choose a roofing company using some bargain basement brand of shingles! That $2,000 we saved is now more money that we are able to spend on other needed house projects. read more

Customer satisfaction is of no importance to this company. A job we were told would take a day and a half is still not complete months later. We had the superintendent come out to address the poor workmanship, which I'm sure is related to the beer bottle caps I had to pick up out of the back yard, and he agreed that there needed to be repairs. He fixed half of them and then left. When I reached out again for follow up I received the text below, which may be the worst customer service I've ever received. The invoice has been paid in full and it looks like we are going to have to hire another company to come out and fix it. The company was never told that we were satisfied as they stated in the text. read more

Had two skylights in need of repair, and Greg came out promptly to quote. Not only did the estimate come in lower than expected, but they were able to install the following week! We had a slight issue with one of them due to manufacturer defect (not Southern Star) and communication with Kristi and Greg was prompt to get the details taken care of! Very happy with the service and will be using them again for our needs! read more

Have been trying to resolve a poor work performance issue. Owner came out and wanted to extend the warranty, but I never heard back from him. I want the roof repaired. I paid over $6,000 to not be satisfied. I sent several recent emails no response. C.Drakeford read more

I am a large roofing contractor in the San Francisco Bay Area. My wife's friend in North Carolina asked me to look at the repair recommendations of Southern Star Roofing to make sure she was not getting ripped off. They came out, did the inspection and understood what was needed. But the amazing part was what they did next. Our friend has been through a lot with her husband having has a serious car accident recently. So the contractor, Brandon Johnson, did the repair for free. Where I live, there are not very many kind people left. Everybody has a lawyer and love is in short supply. But Brandon showed what real Christians do because Jesus did it for us first. Thanks Brandon! You are an inspiration to us all. read more

OK... we have a severe shortage of good building / repair folks in Charlotte. It's hard to find a reliable company that does their job properly and treats their customers well. We had a bit of a windstorm last week and we lost a couple of shingles (I had guessed from a ridge cap). I'm not spry enough to be crawling up on our 2.5 story roof, so I went looking for some professionals. Johnny from Southern Star Roofing came out, got up on the roof, found spot where the shingles had come from (yep... a couple of cosmetic shingles covering the ridge vent system) and replaced them. 30 minutes later and everything was fixed... NO CHARGE (I was at least expecting a service visit charge or SOMETHING). Nice way to build a loyal customer base! Their office staff was also prompt in returning calls and getting me on the calendar. Thanks, Southern Star! I've got your number in my phone and will be calling again when we have another need. read more

I had damage to my roof due to wind and hail. Brandon Johnson with Southern Star Roofing came to my house and did a thorough inspection. He presented me with pictures of the damage and explained the process of working with insurance companies. He was not a pushy salesman but very kind and considerate. He went over and beyond helping me with the insurance claim. His team removed my existing roof and replaced it on time as promised. They did a wonderful job and my roof looks awesome!! Furthermore, they cleaned up so well after the job and not piece of debris left in the yard. Without any hesitation, I would highly recommend Brandon and Southern Start Roofing!!! read more

This was my first time having my roof replaced and received estimates & consultations from 3 different roofing companies which all were great however I went with Southern Star. My cousins also recommended this company. Southern Star replaced their roof a few years ago. Javi with Southern Star was professional in all forms of communication from beginning to the end. When he came out for the consultation and free estimate I was really impressed with the folder packet and samples of the roof material & colors I could select as well as being able to feel the texture. He responded to all my emails, phone calls and text messages. The office staff were great to work with as well. I also received 2 free passes to the White Water Center from Southern Star. That was great! The work crew showed up to my home on the day of roof replacement, set up everything by helping me to move any outdoor furniture, etc out the way (they went over and beyond to do that) and they didn't have to, they covered up what needed to be covered to protect from falling roofing debris and nails. It was a construction site. The guys were great and they cleaned up well after my roof was replaced. They came back for some minor repairs I noticed several days later. I recommend Southern Star for your roofing services!! - Satisfied Customer read more

Hi Neighbors! - I would like to wholeheartedly recommend a local roofer that just completed a job for us. Southern Star Construction is a relatively small, locally owned and operated company. They are large enough to handle a reasonable workload, but small enough to maintain the personal service that you would demand. From start to finish, the attention to detail, courtesy and overall professionalism, was impressive. They can be reached at (704 300-9665. read more

Brandon and his team are honest, hardworking, and competitive! He's been a pleasure doing business with and can't be more thankful of the job he's done on my house. Gutters, siding, soffits, shingles. This company can do it all! Brandon did a great job of making sure I was happy with everything throughout the construction process. I wanted to share my thoughts on a local roofing company called Southern Star Roofing and Construction. The owner's name is Brandon Johnson. I have firsthand experience with Brandon from when we got that terrible hailstorm 7-8 years ago. At the time there were a lot of "storm chasers"....shady characters going door to door from out of state promising to replace my roof for a low cost. But if there was a problem with installation or afterwards...those storm chasers were in the wind...never to be seen again. Brandon's company replaced my roof. Not only was it superior craftsmanship....but Brandon took the time to address my needs and answer any questions I had. I didn't feel like just another job....he cares. He's a local company that's not going anywhere. And that goes a long way in the roofing and construction industry. The manufacturer and company warranties he offers with his work have elevated Southern Star Roofing and Construction to one of the top Roofing companies in the surrounding Charlotte area. Everyone in their office is very friendly, knowledgeable, and their customer service is what would make me go with Southern Star Construction for any future roofing, window, or siding projects. The wind and hail storms we've had over the last few weeks have caused a lot of damage...especially to roofs. If you're in need of a roof, have any questions, or would like someone to inspect your roof....Southern Star Roofing and Construction should be your first call. They're also doing a promotion now that if they replace your roof, they'll come out and pressure wash your house for free! I would definitely recommend Southern Star Roofing and Construction to anyone in need of a new roof, new siding, or new windows!!! read more

I had Southernstar Roofing and Construction repair my gutter which was dangling off of my 3 story home after a storm. I called several places and they were the only ones to respond. I needed someone to my house ASAP because I was afraid the high winds would blow the dangling gutter into a window. They came out that day! I will definitely be calling Southerstar with all of my future roofing needs. Very professional. I highly recommend them! read more

I utilized Southern Star roofing for a gutter cleaning, roof inspection, and also power washing of my home and driveway. They did an excellent job on all of the services and I also must add that Brandon was incredibly helpful and responsive to all customer concerns. Another thing I like about Southern Star is that they provide before and after photos of services, which really shows how much of a difference was made. After the power washing my driveway went from a dirty brown to a clean concrete gray and my home exterior was glowing. If you are looking for affordable service for your home this certainly is a company you should give a call. read more

10/3/18 signed contract, 11/1/18 subcontractors (only 1 spoke English) installed roof, and even though they charged for new vents, the old vents were spray painted, called and emailed multiple times, then 12/9 sleet was INSIDE the attic space! don't walk but run from this company! read more
