What they did for me were roof repairs on about a 10 year home. The real reason Southern Star should be a must call for homeowners is I have solar panels. There was some roof damage, caused by squirrels, that precipitated us needing roof repairs. Well, if you have a solar array on your home just getting someone to just look at it has its challenges. Southern Star was the only company I got a response. The only one out of 5. Sure there are logistics to work through when you have solar panels. At the end of the day, the quote given was very reasonable and they were able to do the necessary repairs ASAP. Just surprises all around. If you need repairs on your roof, you should not hesitate to put Southern Star at the top. They are truly super stars in a business that may not have the best of reputations. Thanks to you all.

The estimate was scheduled promptly and the estimator Rhett was friendly and professional. Their estimate was in the middle of the 3 we received, but $2,000 higher than the roofing company we hired to install our new roof. When I texted Rhett to tell him we had gone with a roofing company whose estimate was more budget friendly for us, within moments I received a hard sell text telling me how the brand of shingles they used were far superior to any other brand of shingles out there and that I needed to consider that in making my decision. Believe me since this was the first new roof on my house in 25+ years I did my research on shingle brands and didn't choose a roofing company using some bargain basement brand of shingles! That $2,000 we saved is now more money that we are able to spend on other needed house projects.

We originally hired Building Kingdom for our master bath remodel because their price was good but…read morenot the cheapest and he seemed to understand what we wanted and how we wanted it. Chris was agreeable, polite, and sincere which honestly was a change from some of the contractors we had bid this job. Once the project was started, we learned, all too late, that he and his team were in way over their heads. The following is a list of "issues" we had with the quality, professionalism, and craftsmanship of our master bathroom remodel by Building Kingdom. Asked multiple times to confirm a timeline for the project and was told 3 weeks. Project took 9 weeks to be "complete". 3 Weeks in, Demo still wasn't complete. They left demo garbage at the bottom of my driveway for so long we received letters from the HOA on 2 occasions. Asked multiple times in the beginning to confirm that we had enough floor tile and grout. We were 3 tiles short and he purchased another bag of grout that that did not come close to matching our color. Change order that consisted of a nailing 3 2x4s together and installing them with hurricane straps -$500 Cut a water line in the bathroom without turning off the water to the house, resulting in a water emergency. Shower drain was centered on the shower stall, not the shower floor. Plumbed hot and cold water reversed to the shower valve. Plumbed shower head and hand held reversed. Promised custom frosted glass. Received Manufactured glass with no frost. Cut too far around faucet outlet and installed it anyways. Uneven tiles in corners of shower Shower pan puddled so he had to come back and tear out tile, grout, and mortar. It still puddles. Shower pan grout cracked after 2 weeks of use Built "bump outs" to mount the glass to, but didn't account for the tile depth, so they had to cut a channel in the tile to mount the glass doors. Returned 3 times to properly mount shower door so that it would close properly. Still doesn't close properly. Bullnose border in the niche has 2 sides flush, 2 sides off set Used spacers on some of the floor tile and some not. Resulting in uneven grout lines. Wired the new closet switch incorrectly resulting in no power in the master bedroom for an evening. Crew regularly didn't show up or didn't work while he wasn't here to oversee them. Taped Access panel into drywall leaving no access without cutting or tearing drywall paper. Drywall corners are wavy, generally terrible drywall skills and results. Project included leaving the ceiling "paint ready". Drywall tape is coming off, popcorn left around edges of ceiling. Bench seat grout line cracked and resulted in leaking into our kitchen. Repaired by Chris, cracked and leaked again, and caused severe damages to the kitchen ceiling, wall, and cabinets. His insurance company required 2 written reports, at our expense, to prove that the shower was the cause of the damage. They have taken 54 days to make a reasonable offer to get the shower and kitchen damage repaired. Building Kingdom has been using images of our bathroom on his website to promote his skill when we designed the bathroom and purchased all the materials. A project started on August 17 probably wont be completed (repaired to a usable condition) until after February. This list is just a high level list, it doesnt mention his crew constantly asking for glassware or dishes for their lunch, them locking us out of our bedroom while they "worked", or constantly being told that our project sucked. When the Chris handed the project over to us, we suggested that he leave some of the final payment on the table in order to make up for the timeline being 3 times what he had promised and he did leave about 17% of his original quoted price out of the final payment. However, his insurance company didnt consider that 5+ months of having an unusable master bath shower or damaged kitchen walls was "loss of use" so we are only barely getting our house "back to zero". Every time I go into our bathroom I'm infuriated by the entire situation. Seven months without our shower, wasted time and money, poor quality work, and how much we paid to get into this position. Obviously, I cannot recommend Building Kingdom.

A $8900 contract was signed with Dwight with Superior and agreed upon for a egress window Oct 30th…read morewith half the money upfront of $4,450. The signed proposal said the rest ($4450) would be due at completion . A small amount of construction was started. Dwight called a couple weeks later in November and he requested the rest of payment even though work was just started, to pay his employees for Christmas( $4,450) and it was agreed and paid via check from home owner Nov 22nd.. Dwight then wrote a "guarantee check" to assure us that the work would be completed and if it was not we could cash the $4450 check and get our money back. They never came back to work on the window or complete the work. And never a phone call was received from Superior. Another company had to be hired at another $7000 to do the work ! The guarantee check from Superior was then attempted to be deposited by homeowner and was returned due to NSF. On 2nd attempt , we were told a STOP PAYMENT had been placed by Superior Construction. We have made several phone calls to settle up and they have not been returned.

After a tree went though my roof, I contacted them because they did the roofing for me last year, as well as convert my carport to a garage. These guys were so unprofessional, they had to borrow my ladders! You'd think they'd bring enough of their own to not have to use the homeowner's equipment! The sad part is I paid them over $7000 for this shoddy work! They left a support board dangling in the attic (complete with protruding nails) and the shingles looked like they were ripped and patched with silicon sealant. They left a huge pile of debris in my yard that I had to pay to have removed. On top of everything, they removed the house numbers from the front of my house. I found them in my garage. Update: I finally got them to pay most of the cleanup fee. The bill was $359.00. They left a check in my mailbox (no envelope) for $350.00. I had told them I'd remove this review if they reimbursed me for the cleanup, but they couldn't even do that. So the review stays. AND STAY OUT OF MY MAILBOX!!!

Several weeks ago, my roof sustained some storm damage that required a new roof. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind who I wanted to give the business to. I called Jeff and Gary and they made it a point to quickly visit my home and provide me with a comprehensive inspection and quote. We scheduled the roof installation for 5/31/2022, on 5/30 Memorial Day the owner himself shows up to drop off the crews supplies for the next day (how about that). The crew arrived promptly at 7:00 am yesterday to get started. Let me tell you about this phenomenal crew, they worked together like a fine-tuned orchestra. I could tell they were highly skilled and took pride in their work. The finished job was nothing short of perfection. The crew went above and beyond to make sure the job was done right, and it shows.
