We originally hired Building Kingdom for our master bath remodel because their price was good but…read morenot the cheapest and he seemed to understand what we wanted and how we wanted it. Chris was agreeable, polite, and sincere which honestly was a change from some of the contractors we had bid this job. Once the project was started, we learned, all too late, that he and his team were in way over their heads. The following is a list of "issues" we had with the quality, professionalism, and craftsmanship of our master bathroom remodel by Building Kingdom. Asked multiple times to confirm a timeline for the project and was told 3 weeks. Project took 9 weeks to be "complete". 3 Weeks in, Demo still wasn't complete. They left demo garbage at the bottom of my driveway for so long we received letters from the HOA on 2 occasions. Asked multiple times in the beginning to confirm that we had enough floor tile and grout. We were 3 tiles short and he purchased another bag of grout that that did not come close to matching our color. Change order that consisted of a nailing 3 2x4s together and installing them with hurricane straps -$500 Cut a water line in the bathroom without turning off the water to the house, resulting in a water emergency. Shower drain was centered on the shower stall, not the shower floor. Plumbed hot and cold water reversed to the shower valve. Plumbed shower head and hand held reversed. Promised custom frosted glass. Received Manufactured glass with no frost. Cut too far around faucet outlet and installed it anyways. Uneven tiles in corners of shower Shower pan puddled so he had to come back and tear out tile, grout, and mortar. It still puddles. Shower pan grout cracked after 2 weeks of use Built "bump outs" to mount the glass to, but didn't account for the tile depth, so they had to cut a channel in the tile to mount the glass doors. Returned 3 times to properly mount shower door so that it would close properly. Still doesn't close properly. Bullnose border in the niche has 2 sides flush, 2 sides off set Used spacers on some of the floor tile and some not. Resulting in uneven grout lines. Wired the new closet switch incorrectly resulting in no power in the master bedroom for an evening. Crew regularly didn't show up or didn't work while he wasn't here to oversee them. Taped Access panel into drywall leaving no access without cutting or tearing drywall paper. Drywall corners are wavy, generally terrible drywall skills and results. Project included leaving the ceiling "paint ready". Drywall tape is coming off, popcorn left around edges of ceiling. Bench seat grout line cracked and resulted in leaking into our kitchen. Repaired by Chris, cracked and leaked again, and caused severe damages to the kitchen ceiling, wall, and cabinets. His insurance company required 2 written reports, at our expense, to prove that the shower was the cause of the damage. They have taken 54 days to make a reasonable offer to get the shower and kitchen damage repaired. Building Kingdom has been using images of our bathroom on his website to promote his skill when we designed the bathroom and purchased all the materials. A project started on August 17 probably wont be completed (repaired to a usable condition) until after February. This list is just a high level list, it doesnt mention his crew constantly asking for glassware or dishes for their lunch, them locking us out of our bedroom while they "worked", or constantly being told that our project sucked. When the Chris handed the project over to us, we suggested that he leave some of the final payment on the table in order to make up for the timeline being 3 times what he had promised and he did leave about 17% of his original quoted price out of the final payment. However, his insurance company didnt consider that 5+ months of having an unusable master bath shower or damaged kitchen walls was "loss of use" so we are only barely getting our house "back to zero". Every time I go into our bathroom I'm infuriated by the entire situation. Seven months without our shower, wasted time and money, poor quality work, and how much we paid to get into this position. Obviously, I cannot recommend Building Kingdom.

Just writing another recommendation for Pioneer Home Repairs!!…read more I had another small job I needed completed - and to be honest - I wasn't even sure if what I wanted existed - but Zachrey Conner came up with a great solution which not only gets the job done - but was economical because he was able to use my existing hardware instead of having to start buying a bunch of expensive stuff I didn't need! We have a screened in porch on the back of our house - and we have a medium sized dog who we like to give access to both our porch and the fenced in back yard. We keep his bed, along with his food and water bowls on the porch and our solution up to now has been to prop open the screen door so he could go in and out. But about a week ago we had a pretty windy day and the wind caught the propped open door and bent it all the way open - which damaged the mechanism on the top of the door that is used to prop the door open. I went to Lowes to price a new screen door (thinking that was our only option) and while doing so I thought to myself - why dont they make a doggy door for within a screen door?? I looked at Lowes, Home Depot and even Amazon and did not find anything like what I was thinking would be a perfect solution - because I knew even if we replaced the bent door it would likely be damaged again in the future if we continued to prop it open. So - I reached out to Zach and he literally showed up at my door to talk about what I wanted within 30 minutes of texting him (like seriously - who does that)!! He said he was finishing a job near by and so he came right over. We talked about what I was wanting and he said he thought we could modify my exisiting door without too much trouble and he then told me my original door wasn't damaged - I just needed a new part for the existing door - and that part cost less than $20!! I was thrilled. We setup an appointment for him to return to do the work and he finished the job a little earlier today. Once again I am thrilled with the outcome. He installed the new part to fix my door and customized the original door by removing two vertical slats to the right hand side of the door and created a frame to support the changes in the actual screening - which he cut and added a metal piece to the bottom of and then added magnets in the frame of the door itself so it now swings open for my dog to go through but will stay closed to prevent bugs from entering an open hole - just like a doggy door is supposed to do!! Now I can use my door but keep it closed all while allowing my dog to come and go multiple times per day without having to physically let him in and out of the porch or prop open the door!! Zach is such a wonderful handyman! I highly recommend him for any repairs or maintenance work you need done! He is on Facebook and Yelp - but the easiest way to reach him is to text him at 980-335-6940. If you have any questions - feel free to message me directly. Thanks!

I hired Jacob Jackson for repair to some framework, minor drywall repair, painting (touch-up, no…read morecolor chances), door refinishing, floor cleaning, and other minor repairs to window blinds and screens. He was later than our scheduled times because: 1. His wife had errands to run and he needed to stay with their children. 2. It was hot and he took his kids to the water park. 3. He took his wife to the dentist. He left during the work to: 1. Buff a friend's truck. 2. Fix another customer's plumbing problem. 3. Meet his wife and son who was getting a haircut. Some of the repairs he made were OK, but much of the work was not professional looking. His painting was awful. Paint was dripped on the baseboards, slopped on the trim, and smeared on the floor. I had to repaint the baseboards and trim. The floors were not adequately cleaned. After he left, I spot clean the carpet and redid the hardware and tiled floors. He was not true to his stated prices. He exaggerated the scope and the hours of his work to inflate his bill. Jacob seems sincere and anxious to work, but he is more interested in over charging than providing good service at a fair price. Do not fall victim to this unethical handyman. Post review: Response to reply. The wife's reply is not factual. I never met or spoke with her and to my knowledge, she never came to the home so her accounting of what I said or what was done is not first hand. The work was spread over a week, but none of the days were full days. The water slide work delay mentioned was not on the 4th of July. Her husband took the kids to Carowinds water park that day -- a different outing. His last work day was the 3rd. I never said do the work and I'll pay. There was no final walk through; no expression of satisfaction with the totality of the work. She is repeating her husband's exaggerated work claims. For example, "trenching" was scrapping some mulch from in front of a drainage exit: "screen repair" was replacing one screw that was missing for one of the screens to attach to. And the floor cleaning: I was going to hire Stanley Steamer when Jacob said he had a guy who would do the carpet for $69, claiming that I would get a discounted price due to the volume of work I was having done and the hope of establishing an on-going relationship. Jacob also said that his wife wanted to do the hardwoods and tiled floors at cost for the same reasons. He then claimed that the carpet cleaning guy could do the other floors for less that his wife. On the final invoice, he charged $550 for the floor cleaning. He claimed 5 hours of service. The cleaner was there for 2.
