Call it being middle aged, call it a desire to remain limber, or call it degenerative discs in my neck but whatever the reason I have found myself dipping my toe back into the wonderful world of yoga (is "dipping toe" a pose?). I was informed by my pain management doctor that yoga would help reduce and possibly even nullify my pinched nerve pain. And so, awkward and clumsy though I am, I signed up for a Sunday afternoon beginners class. I was certain to arrive early so I could place my mat away from everyone else (so if I tumbled over it wouldn't be seen). But, as in the years before, the instructor was a calming and reassuring presence from the beginning. She went slowly and by the end of the class I was centered, at peace, and a little bit sore. And the next day, no nerve pain! So of course I signed up for it again the following week. I did this for three weeks before deciding that yoga needs to be a regular practice for my life. And though I prefer the ambiance and atmosphere of their studio (not to mention the relaxing aroma!) I decided to take advantage of their online subscription service. This gives me access to classes 24/7, and with as much viewer repetition as I choose. I have found this helpful as I can take a class a few times in a row and begin to learn the various poses (thus increasing my confidence). This can be done on a monthly basis or you can save by doing an annual subscription. I am grateful for the good work Space Yoga Studio is doing in the community (read more on their website), their impact on the world of yoga locally, and the welcoming nature of the entire team. im visiting family locally and needed some yoga. this space is beautiful and special. The classes were just what the doctor ordered after long airplane rides and the general habits while visiting family and being from outta town. You know, eating all the healthiest foods and of course not siting around and catching up. The flows were smooth and just the right amount of challenging. My first hot yoga experience was a GREAT one! A couple gals from work invited me to Thursday night hot yoga at Space Yoga, and I was excited but nervous - I dabbled in yoga during Covid quarantine, but I'm no expert, and I've never done it in a 90 degree room! Booking the class online was easy, and I love their financially accessible price model. I paid online before class. Then I chugged water all day, fearing passing out from dehydration during hot yoga that evening. But when 7pm rolled around, and I showed up to Space Yoga, all my fears were gone! The studio has a great atmosphere - zen, low-lighting, and no mirrors. Everyone was welcoming, and they had all the mats, yoga blocks, and fresh towels everyone needed. Many brought their own mats, but Space Yoga had plenty clean ones to spare (and plenty of extra mat cleaner). Everyone set up their mat anywhere they felt comfortable, and there was no pressure. Perfect for someone who goes every week, or just someone who was showing up for the first time. There were probably 20 people there for class. The owner gave us a few kind words, and then the instructor began. She was great! Not too slow and not too fast, and when we began a new pose, she would describe plenty of variations for it so people would be comfortable regardless of skill level. There was no walking around the room and critiquing poses - just a calm, group environment to practice yoga at your own pace with no pressure. As for the "hot" part of the yoga... I loved it! I set up my mat in the back, trying to stay far away from the heater, but next time I will move closer to it. The heat felt great and loosened up those muscles! I will be coming back for hot yoga, and I'll definitely be trying out some other classes! One more quick note - as this studio is at the corner of Central Ave and Monte Sano Ave, I wouldn't say there is ample parking. If you show up too early (more than 15 mins before class), all the parking in front of the studio (on the Central Ave side) is still full from the previous class, but if you show up too late (at the time class starts), you may not get a spot either. However, I was able find parking along Monte Sano Ave on the other side of Central Ave (heading towards St. Mary's), so just be prepared to not park directly in front of the studio if need be. read more

This place is awesome! I love Space! This is a donation based yoga studio. They have a great way of making people feel welcomed. The atmosphere is very relaxing. They have cubbies in the back for your stuff & they have yoga mats if you don't own one. I attended the aerial yoga class and it was fantastic! I'm a yogi & it was my first time doing aerial yoga. The instructor did a great job demonstrating the poses & helping people as needed. I can't wait to go back for another aerial class! They also have regular yoga classes and hot yoga! read more

Took some friends here after moving from a town with a very luxurious hot yoga studio. These guys really made good use of an old building space. The layout of the building is a bit awkward and not the most zen-looking environment I've ever seen. I wish they would burn incense or oils during sessions. Also wish they had mirrors like many other studios to check form. Besides the small cosmetics, the classes are enjoyable, challenging, and affordable. read more

The best studio I've been to in Augusta. The staff are all amazing and super friendly. The space itself is modern, clean, and energizing. On top of it all, the prices are affordable with a $12 beginning drop-in rate. You might have to walk for parking or wait for the class before you to pull out, but it's a nice area nonetheless. My favorite part is how easy it is to look up class schedules on their website, super user friendly. Overall, Space yoga is an amazing place that I would recommend anyone and everyone to visit. read more

I have attended a few classes now at Space and have enjoyed them. I've only done beginner classes here so far, but I'm soon going to start branching out. This is a great studio. I've only had classes with Annie, and she is a positive, wonderful person. I am looking forward to doing more yoga here in the future. The only downside is the size of the studio. So if you get a big group there maybe a tight squeeze. But they do their best to make it work so everyone feels welcome. read more

From the pictures I've seen of this place, I was expecting a very intimate and tricky situation when I attended my first yoga class in over a decade. Unfortunately, I did not do my homework and sat in front of the previous shop spot for longer than I'm willing to admit. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the studio had moved down the street and indeed, could accommodate us all so we didn't get a whiff of whatever deodorant was in wafting in our general area. The studio is laid out in a very thoughtful manner-aerial yoga is tucked away in it's own land so no awkward peering through fabric at your instruction at inopportune moments. I love the sunshine pouring through all the glass windows-it really helps lift up my spirit as I try hard not slouch or groan. The instructors were not what I was expecting whatsoever. They were very honest, reasonable and inspiring. I shy away from yoga because my only experiences were in classes with people wearing way too little clothes and way too into themselves and not the class. This class and these people however, are the real deal. I appreciate the help, explanations and alternative poses they give me because not everyone is built the same. They offer a open class on Saturdays so it's like a really cool drop in and try us out sort of thing for them. If you don't have your own yoga mat, I don't think it's a problem. Don't forget to bring a bottle of water though. You'll be surprised how parched you can get from breathing and focusing on stretching your body out. I wish I lived closer! This is the ideal yoga studio for an everyday person like me who hates a crowd but really needs a way to stretch out and quiet the mind once in awhile. Everyone should give this place a try at least for comparisons sake. read more

The studio was really cute honestly. It was my first time doing yoga here in Augusta and because of all the high ratings I wanted to check it out, although the check and offer is false the $12 for the class was well worth it. I like that the studio is donation-based and that you can choose what you think each class is worth. The aerial class was a great core workout and nice change from normal yoga or strength training classes.

Awesome!!!!!! I love this place! This studio is all about coming as you are and doing what you can! If you have to sit out of a pose, it's no big deal. There's no pressure to keep up at all.
