Look no further for your relaxation oasis! Spa Royale is my go-to place for when I'm looking to impress out-of-town family. Booking online is easy for two people with a variety of service options. Any time there were updates or changes, their front staff problem-solved effectively and always do their best to accommodate. Your lavish experience begins at checkout with a hot, scented towel. Next, you are brought to a delightful, gender separated locker room. The lockers are stocked with a towel, shoes (although I always bring my own slippers), and a silky robe to change into. There is a shower and sauna along with mirrors and vanity to prep yourself for post-relaxation adventures. Spa Royale's relaxation room is expansive. Unwinding officially starts for me when I get to put my feet up in one of their loungers with a hot cup of tea, mixed snacks, and/or flavored water (changes weekly). Their facials are heavenly and their massages are legendary! While the Grand Indulgence is luxurious, I would actually recommend the Himalayan Salt or Deep Tissue. The Grand indulgence and 90-minute facial are similar with the them massaging your arms and feet with body butter followed by warming mitts. The Grand Indulgence also adds an invigorating scalp massage complete with warm oil (Note: your hair has never felt so soft and vivacious... but you may not want to go to a 5-star restaurant dinner after). All their therapists are experts in their craft- a special shoutout goes to David! What I especially appreciate is their privacy and professionalism. They have a couple of dual rooms- which we usually pick. Great for mom/daughters or couples. You will feel comfortable the whole time! Bonus note: a new tradition for us is have lunch at the Cafe first. If you go, be sure to have the chicken quesadilla!! The coffees and smoothies are fabulous too. read more

Have a membership (been loyal for better part of 5 years) - which now I'm considering canceling after this most recent massage. Towards the end of my massage, a jarring static came over the speakers. I halfway expected someone to change the song or turn it down, as it was extremely loud and completely broke me out of the zen. Nope. They let it play for like 5 minutes until the next song came on. When I mentioned it to the person at checkout, he told me I was wrong and that it was "ocean waves". No. It was static. It was NOT ocean waves. He was rude and got an attitude with me. Look, it was awful and if y'all are aware of how terrible that noise is, the fact that it wasn't shut off is unacceptable. I ended up having to pay out of pocket and when I called back to get some kind of resolution, they said it wasn't an issue on there part and there was nothing they could do. I am sure that the person who gave me the card would never have knowingly used it and they were extremely unhelpful. Told me to tell the person who gave me the card to gave them give me cash back!!! I have been pampered by cloud nine for many years. My impression after one visit with spa royale, good experience, but it was not great. Cloud nine had an amazing waiting area with an ambience that just totally relaxed you. The waiting area is nice at spa royale, but it has a clinical feel. It is too bright. The decor is amazing. I suggest dimming it quite a bit. I think with the big windows and lights, it just made me feel like it was a doctor's office. The massage room also had that feel. Overall teas awesome, outside building wow! Infrared saunna awesome. Stairs kind of shocked me. Just the clinical like waiting area. I will give it another try, hoping that room is more calming. At cloud nine their snack area was lit up, but waiting was light enough to be safe but not so bright that you see detail on everyone. read more

Okay, so I just posted a one star rating somewhere based on my mistake in buying a gift certificate online and this is my attempt to rectify that. I initially thought there was a problem because I purchased a $100 gift certificate for another person and what appeared when I tried to print it was a $25 gift certificate for me. The atmosphere and staff a 4 star rating. The took me as a walk in, awesome! Because this is a resort like spa atmosphere the prices are higher. The tech who did my basic manicure $35 was not comfortable using the cuticle cutting tool and I could tell because she didn't clean around the nail and I showed her areas specifically I wanted trimmed and groomed. This is the one thing I really go get my nails done for and it is the basis of my judgement on the technicians technique and over all performance of the job, so I already threw my red flag. She did take her time and she didn't make me bleed so a plus there. Her brush stroke technique was like that of a girlfriend painting my nails for fun. She went back and forth between the color bottle and my nail several times and layered on the polish color and clear coat quite thick to make up for the lack of brush stroke technique. I was not offered any form of drying fan or time for that matter for the wet polish to set. The polish that was left around the nail was attempted to be removed more so left staining or wasncleaned off well. Not my best experience so two stars as I left feeling like I could have polished myself. read more

From massage, facials, pedicures, waxing, etc... every service is done with the utmost professionalism and positivity. The only negative thing about this spa is when your service is over and it's back to reality. I recently went to Spa Royale for waxing services. Briefly about me, I have been getting waxed for most of my teen and adult life and have pretty much exclusively used very upscale spas. My technician, Cicely, was incredibly professional and did a wonderful, very thorough job on my Brazilian wax. She made me about as comfortable as one could be in that position. No double-dipping into the wax pot here! Their spa is very clean and quiet. I'm sure it is probably wonderful for other services as well. I only took off one point because of some communication difficulties at the time of paying, high price point for a small town (overall the whole town seems to be running prices comparable to cities), and for the fact that the service uses a mixed soft and hard wax. Fortunately, Jezelle took the initiative to contact the owner and see if a compromise could be reached regarding the use of predominantly hard wax. Since this was ok-ed, I will likely be returning very soon to utilize this as well as many other services. read more

The place is super cute, clean and cozy - from the sounds to the smells to the customer service, everything was fantastic. It's a great spa, with a lot of amenities, so you can tell they go the extra mile for their clientele. I got the Classic Express Massage (25 mins, $50) with Danell, and she's great! The only thing keeping me from giving this place and the service 5 stars is that I was taken in for my massage about 5-10 minutes after my appointment time at 7:30. And my massage ended promptly at the 7:55 mark. So I feel like I paid full price for a quick massage, but I didn't get my full 25 minutes. My mom surprised me with a massage here, and I really enjoyed it. The masseuse was friendly and did a great job. I especially loved the little touches, like the heated blankets offered at various points. The spa itself is lovely and stocked with all sorts of amenities, from fruit-infused water to an infrared sauna. Massage guests are given cozy robes and access to the changing room and waiting room, which are both very super nice. I've had a lot of massages in a variety of places, from small towns to big cities, and I still think the prices here are a little higher than I'd expect. I get that you come for the experience, but I'd have felt awkward returning to the waiting room or utilizing the sauna after my appointment. That is my only gripe, that and the fact that they could really use two people up front so you don't have to wait for them to schedule phone appointments before you can check out, though, I agree with the note below about needing to sound proof the back area, so maybe two receptionists would only the heighten the noises that come into waiting area. I'm not in Gainesville often, but my mom lives here and fully intends to return soon, and I think it's a nice place to have around for the occasional "treat yourself" kind of day. read more

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be back. I've had multiple massages and facials here, but after this awkward appointment I won't be back. After my relaxing facial, I was changing back into my clothes in the locker room and the staff asked me if I've seen the cleanser she cannot locate. I told her I didn't and after leaving the locker, I see her running around outside looking pissed looking for it. The staff asked me again as I was paying for the facial. It felt like I was being accused of her misplaced product. Honestly I do not believe the population that comes to this spa are the stealing type. Come on we pay good money to get relaxing treatment here. So as I leave a respectful tip, I told myself I would not be coming back, and paying money to be accused. WORST massage experience I've ever had. I've been getting massages regularly for many years ( well over 100 massages ) this was my first massage at Spa Royale. I booked the 80 minute Tension massage. Appointment started off ok waiting room and locker room are lovely (except when a male staff member walked into the ladies locker room, quite uncomfortable I've never had that happen before at resort spas. A therapist was being trained in the room next to me and I could hear him talking throughout the majority of my appointment. I was shocked I even piped up to my therapist but nothing was done. The room was stifling hot which we adjusted twice but still very uncomfortable on top of the hot towels and thick covers. My therapist was a male and I could tell he was tired/didn't care much since he yawned at least 10 times during the appointment. He used very lazy technique a lot with his forearms which all male therapists just need to stop doing it feels disgusting because of their arm hair. I work an extremely high stress job and 5 minutes in I couldn't wait to leave. I was so uncomfortable and it was such a waste of my precious time off. After it was over I didn't even get any water or rinse off and instead made a bee line for checkout to get out of there. I had so much anxiety from the heat and feeling trapped in an uncomfortable situation I had a panic attack in my car after checking out. I haven't had a panic attack in 10 years. Best part is I still got charged $80. So if your looking to create Tension in your life, the tension massage at Spa Royale is 5 stars. read more

I came to Spa Royale after a ridiculously stressful day, I called in and they were very happy to accommodate me without an earlier appointment. I arrived at the spa and the all 3 of the receptionist on duty were so warm and inviting. The amenities offered by the spa were very clean and the robes provided were divine so soft and fluffy. Overall it was a relaxing environment, the lounge was decorated beautifully and the low lighting helped to create a serene environment. Now to the best part.. DAVID was amazing this was my first massage and I felt very comfortable in his hands, the massage rooms were individual and the beds were heated. I got Spa Royale signature massage and it was amazing I never wanted to get up!. We took a small (6 ladies) bridal party there this past weekend 9/21. The Spa was MORE THAN accommodating. The planning of the event was incredibly easy. The Director, Jezelle, was so very helpful. Their flexibility was great - each girl got to pick her own service. The Spa itself is cutting edge, incredibly clean, and you had the feeling that you were the only guest in the facility. The therapists are top notch. I had Corey do my massage and Cici do my facial - both were the best I'd ever had. Each of the girls, though they had a different therapist, said the exact same thing. We are all around 30years old and have had multiple massages/facials/pedis in our lifetimes but these were the best! The Spa's ambience was so incredibly relaxing and everything went off without a hitch (even though WE were almost 15min late to our appointments!) I bought my wife a gift certificate for an 80 minute tension relief massage on 5.1.16, her Mother's Day gift. I called and made her an appt, and told the girl on ur phone I had bought a gift certificate for that service. She went today (5.10.16) for her massage, when she went to check out and give them the certificate, they tell her she owes $5. My wife asked why and they didn't have a clear answer other than the girl thought the prices increased. Really? Within 9 days of buying the certificate? My wife reluctantly payed the $5 difference. I reached out to the spa to find out about this and I was told by the manager that prices were increased to include the choice of aroma therapy or a body butter. And she proceeded to tell me "Body Butter Enhancement today with her massage. Which would have been charged at an additional $10 before this change." However this was offer d and presented as "no extra charge" so of course my wife took advantage of it. She wouldn't have if it would have cost extra. When I told the manager my expectation was for my wife to get the service based on the gift certificate I bought I was told I purchased a dollar value gift certificate and not for a service, however that's not how they sell it to you on their website. I selected a specific service which is noted on the gift certificate as a gift, and my expectation is whoever uses this gift certificate towards the service I thought I was purchasing wouldn't have to pay additional for that service. Her excuse was if they decreased pricing I would want the ability to use the full amount I paid. My expectation is that I paid for a service and there shouldn't be any issues or extra money owed when my wife goes in for that service. The "manager" showed no care for my concern and just brushed it off as "oh well" in my opinion. I told her it's not about the $5 (it's only $5, after i had already paid $125!), but it's the principal of the situation and just bad service to sell a certificate for a service and then ask for someone to pay extra for that service. Her solution was to have me come by to pick up the $5, whenever convenient for me. I live 40min away in Lake City so it's not convenient for just $5. Easy solution would have been to give me a reasonable explanation and apologize, and not brush me off to just get over the situation. And they could very easily just refund the money back to the card my wife used instead of suggesting I come back to pick up $5. I just expected more when voicing my concern and trying to understand the situation and why my wife would owed extra. Just had business and bad customer service in my option. Beware and be sure to clarify pricing and I would avoid buying a gift certificate. read more

Bad Experience- 1. Had three gift cards (one was a year old and two that were 4-5 years old) and took a friend last Sunday afternoon. She had the 1.5 hour Spa Sampler for $125 while I had two other services for $175. To my dismay, I met my friend in the lounge after we were finished and she was not in a robe. She was in the clothes she'd worn in. She was Not even offered a robe and isn't that half the fun if going to a spa!? I spoke to her therapist, who said she does not offer robes for that sampler service of a facial, neck massage and express pedicure. But, the young lady at the register said she always offers a robe for the Spa Sampler and gave me a $25 credit. She was very kind and helpful. 2. Also, when my friend was taken to the locker room she mentioned she'd like to use the restroom and was told to hurry because she was late. We arrived at our designated appointment time and no one told me I was late. So, IF the spa wants its guests to arrive early then, the three texts I received to confirm and remind me of the appointment time would have been the perfect opportunity to say so, as well as the girl I scheduled with over the phone. Neither the scheduler or the texts advised us to arrive earlier than the scheduled appointment time. 3. This spa has no private changing room and the space provided by the lockers with one chair is cramped. If you want any privacy there is only the bathroom (with no chair) or the shower area also with no chair. Seems like a big new spa like this could have planned better. 4. The lounge offers tea and trail mix, but there were no napkins provided. Guess they wanted me to use my robe. 5. My foot reflexology was was not as deep as I have had before and preferred. And, when I requested more pressure, I was told it didn't need to be deep to work. 6. Against my better judgement, I allowed part of my massage to be done on my stomach, which caused a muscle spasm to keep me from sleeping well that night. And, the pain was so bad in my upper back and shoulders that I could not go to work the next day. Told her I'd rather not be on my stomach due to a fusion in my neck and that if so, a bolster had to be placed I thought under my hips to keep from messing up my neck and back. But, I allowed her to encouraged me and she put the bolster under my ankles. One week and two chiropractor appointment later, I am still in a lot of pain and missing out on the gym and social functions today. My therapist had only been out of massage school for a year, so I learned my lesson that I require a professional and seasoned massage therapist. Just thought this spa would have hired a more knowledge and professional caliber of therapists. 7. Additionally, my young new therapist talked nearly two hours about her complete life story and sexual orientation. Just was not the experience I expected. read more

Gorgeous; a lot of attention has been put into decorating detail and the staff is always very friendly. The new location comes with VERY, very thin walls, though. If your goal is peaceful relaxation, just know that you might not achieve that if you're easily distracted. You can definitely hear every door that closes in adjacent massage rooms, and the staff doesn't seem to realize that banging around the hollow pedi bowls while trying to wash them in a much too small sink is the opposite of soothing, especially when you can hear it through headphones (why not just have extra bowls, and do cleanup when there are no customers around, if this can't be remedied?). The pedicure room also backs up to the reception area, where cabinets seem to be open and closed constantly, which results in loud banging sounds on the other side. The staff do take care to speak in hushed tones, but for $70 pedicures and $85+ massages, much more attention should be paid to acoustic control. The aestheticians are great; eyebrow services here are top-notch. I've found most of the masseuses are too light-handed, and if you ask for a firmer touch, it's still pretty featherweight (and I am NOT a fan of deep tissue massage or pain whatsoever...but I do want to leave feeling like I got at least a little pressure). Nail services are awesome and the zero gravity chairs are the bomb, it's just unfortunate that they're in a room with terrible sound proofing. Still, definitely the best Gainesville offers and much less pretentious than the other major spa in town. read more
