I found this place while I was in great pain at 3am right after I came from my lab work. I just could not bear the pain anymore. I was a bit hesitant to go for my first session since it was my first time getting a massage. My first impression on the place was calm and relaxing. They had the place decorated with these cute live plants and decors all over. I immediately felt so comfortable and welcomed by the place. But oh my heavenly god, Kimberly (massage therapist) was just out of the world. She ain't playing around with those "Magic Hands". Right before the session began, we had a brief consultation where she asked me where my problems areas were and what my daily activities were etc. She paid great attention to the problem areas and checked in throughout the session if the pressure wasn't too much. I don't know exactly how to describe how I felt during the session but I will try my best. She has this white noise playing in the background. She sinks into my sore spots and unknot the pain that I had for months. You feel like a heavy burden of pain had been lifted and you feel lighter. The stress and tension in my muscles were relieved and I left feeling calm, strengthened, and healed right after my first session. I know it sounds a bit exaggerated but I am not kidding around. I went there not being able to turn my neck to the left side and after the session I had no pain and was able to move. Since then I go there once a week and saw a great improvement with each visit. I am so glad a found this cute little gem in this swamp!! I am a bit sad since I left Gainesville because I graduated and wont be going in for this amazink experience again. However, if I get a chance again, I will certainly pay a visit here!! I highly recommend students get a weekly massage as it really helps with the stress and tension you have in the muscles!! Not a great massage. When you tell the massage therapist up front you only want you back, neck and feet but they "run out of time" to touch your feet - that really says a lot. Just say you don't like feet and charge me less. read more

Julie is a magician. She is a very skilled massage therapist, and her knowledge of anatomy, pressure points, and massage solutions sets her apart from most such professionals. She identifies problem areas, seems talented at physical maladies, and finds way to target needed therapy to the issues that need attention. I now stand straight even at 82 years and feel so much better even after the initial sessions. And the assistance seems to last longer and longer with each appointment. I have been referred to massage therapists in several countries over the years, and their efforts while comfortable and relaxing, nothing really improved. Julie stands out among her colleagues. Gainesville Massage Therapy (GMT) is a small, hidden gem on 6th Street. I had a major flareup of a chronic condition which was so bad I went to my doctor. Her advice was to get a massage ASAP. I booked with GMT and went the next day. It was worth it in so many ways. It was close to my house and so good that while I was there I booked extra time. My masseuse was Scarlett. She is knowledgeable, skilled and intuitive--the perfect trifecta. Julie, who I assume is the owner, was personable and professional. Julie was very willing and eager to help with my pain, after I left a detailed voicemail on MLK day requesting an appointment. She replied within a few hours and was very open to fitting me in to our schedule. I appreciated her kindness and ability to fit me in essentially last minute for the very next day. I was recently in a car accident involving a semi and have been in a very large amount of pain. I explained this to Julie, in which she took her time making sure she was doing all the right things and not any of the unnecessary things. She spent over an hour working on me, and it was wonderful the entire time. I asked her if she could provide the cupping therapy, as I had heard about it from fiends in which they expressed great relief. Julie explained that it doesn't do very much, which I also appreciate her being upfront with me about it as well so I did not spend any unnecessary money. She did provide some light cupping, which felt really amazing, but I am still interested in doing a full session to see if there is any relief. Julie's prices are a little bit more than your average massage in a strip mall. But this is to be expected as she is not a massage therapist in a strip mall. She is far more knowledgeable on more topics than just the massage therapy, and we had a steady conversation going the entire time. She is also very detail oriented, asking me to fill out a form online prior to arrival, with information like previous surgeries or health conditions. This showed that she was ready to get down to the nitty-gritty and the root of the problem, rather than just provide a massage. However, I felt body shamed by a comment by the masseuse that I did not feel was appropriate. Becky gave me a massage last Friday and it was fabulous. I have a low back injury to the QL, and she really found it, and her massage helped the muscles relax. She is strong and has a ton of knowledge and experience. She helped me understand the difference between the benefits of icing and using heat, and how long and where to apply, also showed me how to get up out of bed, and good stretches to do. I had a great massage with GMT's newest therapist, Kari, last week. Kari is a very positive person with kind, happy energy about her. She was very communicative throughout the massage, double checking that I was happy with the techniques and pressure she used and asking if she needed to change anything for me. Kari worked on my upper back, shoulders and neck and I got a lot of relief from it. She also did some reflexology on my feet which felt very nice and I would ask for again. I'm also extremely ticklish and Kari was very careful to make sure she didn't tickle me, which I appreciated!
