Came here for a pedicure as I felt their prices were way more affordable than neighboring locations. The salon experience was just alright. I didn't feel the pedicure reached my expectations as the clean up service seemed less than usual. The main thing I get a pedicure for is the callus removal which he did not do. The nail clean up was fine but he didn't clean under my nails either. Basically just trimmed and filed which I feel is the most basic part of the pedicure. The gel job was fine. The salon was only one employee and no one else but me was there. Honestly slightly disappointed in my experience, didn't feel I got a full pedicure that I expected. read more

Service was great and I loved how my gel manicure and pedicure turned out. I came in early on a Friday which I recommend because it did start to get busy fast. They were able to accommodate everyone coming in, they just had to wait a little bit. They did my manicure and pedicure at the same time, talk about getting pampered! They didn't pressure me or try to upsell which I liked too. Everyone was very nice. I did the white tips for both my toes and gel manicure and it was $58 which isn't bad at all. I had them done almost a week ago and have had no chipping on either my toes or nails. You can see from the picture attached how great my nails looked. They did a very professional job. They took their time and did not rush at all which was nice, especially since a couple girls were waiting. Great place! read more

Really disappointed! And I'm really upset because my other review was glowing but I went here a second time and though the service was good, my mani didn't last and it was nothing like my experience with Kim. They charge a lot. More than Nail Garden for a gel mani pedi and they aren't putting any of it back into the atmosphere of the space. This is by far the worst nail salon I have ever been to. Do NOT come here if you want dipped/SNS... they have ZERO idea how to do it. I spent 1.5hrs in the chair to be so upset that I had to say something about how bumpy and uneven my nails were... once I said that I didn't like my nails the manicurist just completely gave up, told me to leave, and left all the dried polish and powder stuck on my nails. She then got up and sat in a pedicure chair on her phone. Horrible customer service on top of it all. read more

After 4 weeks , my nails still are perfect. Why, you ask? Because Lily does perfect nails. And because mine are both acrylic and gel. And it gets better than that. Lily is a real artist. She loves her craft and it shows. Right now she could use some more help at the salon. But make an appointment with her, because she is worth the wait. You will not be paying Beverly Hills prices. And when you're done you can take your sweet nails and to any number of terrific restaurants and bars in that front beachy neighborhood of Playa del Rey. read more

Thoroughly disappointed. I've been looking for a new local nail salon and this place had great reviews so I figured I'd check it out. I went in for a gel manicure and pedicure. My nails look like shit. The polish has noticeable splotches and is barely smooth on half my nails not to mention two of my nails are bleeding. I could have done better myself. I'm very disappointed. From the other reviews it's seems like Lilly is really good, but unfortunately I got her husband. Not worth the $35! read more

Wow, have I really been coming here for almost SIX years? *counts silently* Um, yes I have! These ladies are the warmest and most friendly nail specialists I have ever encountered. They do speak in their language, but they do like to clue you in on what they are joking about if it's really that funny. They love to chat with you about your life and will always remember to ask you how the people in your life are doing, and of course will update you on their lives, which makes it seem more like they are friends doing something special for you rather than performing a service. I adore them so much that they are even on my holiday card list! As far as nails go, they are great at what they do. For you pink and white ladies, there are two specialists who will do them to your exact specifications (thickness, shape, width of the white, etc). After the gel application, they always carefully inspect the nails for bumps and will even take the time to redo anything that is short of perfection. With pedis, I'm sure people have their favorites, but I find that they all do an equally fabulous job that I can never pick the lady to do my pedicure. Lastly, Lisa and Mary are fabulous for waxing! I am such a chicken that they warn me when they are about to snap back the strip. They have even held my hand in the past. Re: cost, it costs me about $65-$70 for pink and white plus pedicure. While I'm sure I can get it cheaper elsewhere, I understand here that I'm paying for a standard of quality. I feel really good leaving here every time and that's important when you are about to live with someone's work on your hands for 3 weeks! Tips: * They accept walk-ins, but they get incredibly busy at the most random times. Try to call in for an appointment before going in, even if it's for one that's in ten minutes. * Park in the gravel section in the back of the building. The owner at Gordon's Market will scream at you if he catches you in his lot! * Bring CASH if you can. Due to merchant fees, they started charging $1-$2 for each transaction, depending on the total charged. Other points of interest: * They have a tv and usually play hilarious movies read more

I used to LOVE this place, but the last handful of times I've gone, I've been less than impressed and unsatisfied. The first few times I went, there was a man (not the owner) who worked there who did a spectacular job. He was detailed, took his time, and was very friendly. I don't think he works there any more. Since that time, I've been disappointed with my mani/pedi every time I've gone. I keep giving them one more chance, hoping I'll be happy again, but the last time I went was my last time I'll go there. The nail technicians are very sweet and friendly. However, I feel like they rush, and while it's nice if you want your nails done quickly so you can get out of there, I prefer to get my money's worth and feel like I'm getting my nails done. My ultimate pet peeve, and the reason I am rating them so low, is every time I have gone there recently, they put the coats of nail polish on way too close together. Because they have the spa chairs, instead of switching back from one side to the other when painting my nails, they will do two coats right in a row, followed by a top coat, all on one hand at the same time. It almost guarantees a result of messed up nails, even after sitting for about 15 minutes letting them dry and being very careful for the first few hours after they're painted. The other thing that's often happened due to their multiple coats of polish with little to no time in between, is that my nail polish will literally "shrivel" on my nail. When I point it out to them, they act like it's fine, and when I pursue it further, they eventually have to take all of the polish off and start over. This has happened to me the last 3 times I have been there. The last time I was there, the girl (I don't know her name, but she looked very young) that did my manicure seemed like she had literally never done a manicure professionally before. When I get manicures, my first priority is having my nails/hangnails/cuticles cleaned up. I can polish my nails myself, but I like having the service of making my entire nail and finger look manicured. After this particular girl finished, I had more hangnails than I had started with, my cuticles look terrible, and overall, it looks like I didn't have a manicure. I am not sure how she would have polished, as I just had her do clear after I saw what a bad job she was doing with the overall manicure. I also now have two cuts on one of my fingers. If you do go, I would only go to one nail technician there. She is thorough, friendly, and detailed. I don't know her name, but she is tall and slender. She is the only person I would recommend. Otherwise, it's probably not worth your money or time. I'm honestly sad to give them this rating, I want to continue to go there because they are so friendly, the prices are decent, and it's really convenient location-wise for me, but, I just can't due to the consistent dissatisfaction with my manis/pedis. read more

I'm so sad to write this update, but I feel it's the responsible thing to do. This place has declined quite a bit since I started going here many years ago and I can no longer endorse it. Now, there are only a couple of people who do a good job (Ann and Annie), and everyone else does not. Prices have gone up. I started getting gel mani and regular pedi for $35 and then it went up to $40 and now it's $42. Also, it seems like they use their appointment book as a guideline only; they never take you when they say they will, and that's tough when you're short on time. If you're in the area and can get Ann or Annie, I'd still say to stop by, but I'm going elsewhere these days. read more

Best nail salon I've ever been to. The people here are extremely nice and remember you. The place is clean and they have nail polish that doesn't look 5 years old. I've gotten manicures here that have lasted over a week. That is just insane for a girl like me. I usually chip my nails the second they are dry. I think they do a great job because they take their time. They also scrub this crap out of your feet so you walk out with feet that are as smooth as a baby's ass. Things to note... - It's cash/check only - They take their time, so don't go their if you are in a rush - A little more expensive than other nail salons, but I'm willing to pay for quality over fast bad service (aka Main Attraction in Santa Monica) - They also provide waxing and facial services I suggest you check it out if you are in the area. Never again. After coming here for two years and having it get worse and worse, today was the last straw. First, they started harassing me every time I tried to use my credit card so I had to go out of my way to get cash. Hello, if you want cash only then make it cash only. Don't be obnoxious to me for paying you with the method that's more convenient for me. Then today. They were busy and told me to come back in 20 min for an appointed time. I did. Then watched as they took a walk in ahead of me and made me wait another 15 minutes. The woman who did my nails was awful. I seriously never complain about my nails - if they're filed and painted I'm content. My nails looked like a ten year old painted them. It's on my skin around the nail. Then she put me under the UV light for two minutes, said my nails were dry, then put oil all over my hands. WTF?!? So now the paint is completely smeared and my hands are covered in oil. I just looked at her in disbelief as she smiled and said I could wash my hands if I wanted. News flash, my polish still isn't dry and it looks shitty enough. I just walked out, wishing I hadn't tipped in advance (and I tipped well over 20%. Closer to 40%). Forget that place. I tried to stay loyal and it just got worse. I really really want to be able to give this place 5stars- but can't. I'm surprised by all the high ratings and no mention of hygiene- or lack there of. I live down the street from this place and have come in several times, trying to talk myself into loving this place. First time I came in was to try their waxing service. They Double Dip- GROSS. And the waxer attempted to use a waxing stick that was already in the pot. Who knows where that has been- not me- and so no wax service. A few months later I came in and decided to give the mani/pedi service a shot. Hygiene also lacking. I watched them clean the tup in the spa chair after I got up, by rinsing with water and draining the tub. No anti-bacterial/anti-fungal solution. No disinfectant. Am praying to the gods of foot fungus that they stay away from me. If i had seen this before I would not have stayed. Onto the cleaning of the nail tools. I watched from my chair while I was waiting for my nails to dry. It consisted of wiping them off with a towel and that is it. Double Gross. That said, everyone was really friendly and polite. The good news = I walked right in and got a manicure in about 20 minutes. The bad news = well, many things really. First, I sat underneath a blaring television. It was so loud I felt like I was wincing through my entire mani. The gal that did my names was nice, but was really quick and didn't wait for the each coat of polish to dry (seriously, even 1-2 minutes of drying time in between would suffice) and here I am four days later almost all of my nail polish chipped off. Was in the area and needed a pedi, had some time to kill. Found this place on yell & called to ask if they had time for a pedicure at 2:30 and they said yes! So I arrive at 2:30... It's 2:50 and I haven't even been greeted. So I said "excuse me can someone at least start the foot spa while I'm waiting??" And one of the ladies said "she's almost done." Waited another 5 more minutes before they finally sit me down... The pedicure turned out ok, total was $18. I won't come back here again, not because they did a bad job.. I usually go to the nail shop in PDR on Manchester but this shop was closer this particular day and recommended by a friend so I gave it a shot. On a Saturday afternoon they had three people working. That's it. Three. They told me to come back in an hour. ONE HOUR wait should indicate a need for more staff. I work down the street so I just went and hung out with a girlfriend there. I came back in an hour. The pedicure was fine. The woman did an average job. I had been walking around the beach earlier and had tar on the bottom of my foot which she did a good job of removing for me. The customer who came after me had to specifically ask her to sterilize the instruments because she's gotten infections from dirty work tools. Eww. That should be a given. She shouldn't have had to ask her to clean them first. I think the owner did my manicure and she did a pretty shit job. It was certainly rushed. She put way too much polish on a few fingers. They didn't take payment halfway through so I had to reach into my wallet with as much care as possible with wet nails. No offer to get the money for me. They didn't offer to bring my stuff over to where the UV light station was. I actually had to ask them where it was and request for them to plug it in for. Speaking of which, the polish cracked as it dried because it was applied too thick. They didn't pull down my pant legs for me. No "thanks" for the tip and no good-bye when I left. I was really just left to my own devices after the paint job. Maybe they treat their regulars much better but for a $30 mani/pedi the customer service and work quality suck. This place is hard to find! Pretty visible from the street but if you're going off online or GPS directions, man. The location is waaaay off from the actual place. I ended up going to wrong way on Culver and when I finally reached my "destination" I was in the middle of the wetlands. The Essie nail polish dries really quickly. Know when your polish is technically dry but it's still malleable and you get dents or mess it up? I left the salon with nail polish that was fully hardened, so I could drive and not be scared. It was the first time I'd used that brand and I was very happy with the results and the color selection. The massage I got on my hands was only okay, she did it with gloves on so it felt really weird. But the rest of it was fine. The pedicure was nice, she was pretty gentle and the leg and foot massage (without gloves) felt great. When she asked if I wanted an extra scrub on my feet to work on my heels, she mentioned up front that it was an extra $5. That was appreciated... and she didn't try to sell it, she was just stating the fact. Pros: Essie and OPI nail polish, $27 for a mani/pedi and you get to sit in the massage chair, pretty clean environment. Cons: Asked me if I could pay in cash and when I said I only had enough for tip and was planning to pay with card, the owner made it obvious she wasn't happy about that. Also the ladies are pretty chatty but they're not too loud and the tv isn't on so if you have headphones or can zone out with a magazine or a nap you'll be fine. I enjoyed my experience until the very end when I had to pay. That kind of put me off, I was taken aback that the owner was so vocal about my form of payment. I'm sorry, but if you're going to accept cards, please don't make me feel awkward about it. It's not a super nice place, but it definitely got the job done and my toes still look great a week later. I'm constantly on the computer and working with kids so my fingers usually chip right away but they lasted about 6 days before beginning to chip. Until I become a little wealthier (i.e not for a long time!) I will probably go back here, overall it was a good experience and not too heartbreaking for my wallet. read more

I tried this place out yesterday because I did not want to drive all the way to BH on my day off justto get my nails done. I checked Yelp and liked the reviews so I decided to give it a try. When I first walked in they seemeda little uninterested in my patronage. They continued talking in their language and didn't pay much attention when I told them I found them online. After their conversation was over, they were a little more interested in talking to me and things improved from there. I am very happy with my simple manicure, but my pedicure is what I am in LOVE with. I wear heels every day and have developed hard calusses on the balls of my feet. Mary used this magical liquid and buffed them off! OMG! I was soooooo happy. Same thing for my heels. Major improvement. Also, my toes look perfect. I'm a regular at this nail salon and I think they do a great job! Ann is the best, everyone always requests her. Even though some aren't fluent in English, the ladies are always friendly. They even fixed one of my nails that chipped (totally my fault) a couple of days later, free of charge. I usually get a gel mani and pedi. My first experience here was amazing. Kim was gentle on my nails, she did a great pedicure and overall, I was delighted at the experience for the price. Yes,the place is dreary. Yes, the equipment is old. But the place was clean and I thought Kim was sweet. I continued to see Kim for three months and over all, things were good. I was happy, I really wanted to like this place. Then one morning I needed a mani/pedi, so I checked their biz card and it said they were open at 9:00 am. I arrived at 9:30 to find that the time on the door said 10:00. I decided to go next door for a quick bite and come back at 10:00. At 10:15 I called the number on the door to see if they were opening today. I was told they were opening and that they'd be there in "15 minutes." I specifically asked if they would be there in 15 minutes or more like half an hour because I'd already been there since 9:30? "No, no, 15 minutes," they said. At 10:45, they sauntered around the corner, carrying their morning coffee, ready to start work. I learned my lesson. The next time I went, I dropped in, made an appointment for me and my girlfriend, and came back at the agreed upon time. We waited over 20 minutes for our mani-pedi's to start and when they did start, they stopped in the middle to give someone else a pedi. I go to another CKK nails in Marina Del Rey now. I love it. So if you go: be prepared to like the people, but not the service or the way you are treated. And good luck to you. read more

Worst nail salon - ever! I went in to have my gels simply re-done (not a full mani). The damage done to my nails will take months to heal. The man who worked on my nails scraped SO hard he dented my real nail bed. I asked him to let them soak longer but either he didn't understand me or didn't want to. The polish job was amateur, at best (a toddler can color in the lines better). It looked thick and gloopy. After an hour ... he was done and asked me if they looked okay. Only because I wanted to get out of there did I said they were fine. But they were most certainly NOT fine. And within 24 hours, they also peeled. I went to my normal salon in the marina few days later and was ashamed to show my nails to my normal gal. She said it would be about a month to heal and they have to be super short. NEVER again. I had tried this place when I first moved to Playa del Rey 10 years ago and they were bad then ... not sure why I gave them another shot. Oh and I have gotten a pedicure here from time to time ... also poor quality. Lesson learned. read more

Wait time: I made an appt and still ended up waiting 1 hour and 8 minutes before getting seen! why I waited you ask, well because by the time I decided to get up and leave it was too late to go and wait somewhere else and I had to be somewhere in two hours. Cleanliness: NO! I would give it 0 stars. they clearly don't take hygiene seriously. Again if I didn't have to be somewhere I would have got up and left. Gel nails: They did a good job, one thing I really liked about this place, is that they can do designs, not very good ones but at least better than none. I really wanted to love this place because I live nearby but the nail technician that worked on me yesterday was not gentle whatsoever. I winced a few times during the pedicure and removed my foot away as well. She was rough and was digging the metal tools into my soft beds. Even when I told her to stop on my big toe, she went in again to dig for clams I believe. Well lo and behold, I woke up with a swollen and tender big toe. Ugh! I am hoping it is not an infection and that it's just aggravated. I called today to ask how I should treat it to avoid an infection. I was told to clean my foot and use hydrogen peroxide. Thank goodness, I have some in my medicine cabinet and immediately did just that. If my foot is not better in two days than off to the doctors I go to make sure I do not have a staph infection or fungal infection. Also, when the nail technician did a cursory scrub of the bottom of my foot for callouses, I wish she had asked me if I wanted the callous remover for $5. I kept feeling it to hint to her to scrub a little more. And if there is an extra charge, then tell me. I am cool with paying the extra money to get the dead skin off my feet. So I had to finally say something and she was not happy. She gave me such an unhappy look. I think it's just good salesmanship if she tries to sell extra services to the clients. Whoever I talked to on the phone was apologetic and nice. She offered a free mani/pedi but I will have to pass. I'm not willing to go through that pain and fear of infection again.
