I've been coming to this nail salon on and off for years. I used to love coming here to get fun designs on my nails but the quality has really gone downhill and now I only get a solid color. The purple and red sets were from past years and the blue set is from today... After today I will NOT be going back. The woman who did my pedicure today rushed through the job. She didn't put anything between my toes to avoid the polish rubbing off and onto another toe, she didn't put on a base coat before applying gel polish, and she very vigorously buffed away the sides of my feet (not the heel or ball of my foot- she was distracted talking to her friend). Then when it came to doing a 5 minute foot massage, she decided half way through that she was over it and just put pressure on my toes, bending them toward the floor to stretch them and continued talking to the tech next to her. I'd like to say that was the end of the experience, but it wasn't. The guy that did my manicure was probably new. He filed off the topcoat with his machine on high speed and burned my nail plate, then didn't really know what steps to do the service in. By the time he had me soak my nails in water, the bowl was already cold. He was friendly and tried to make sure I was happy at each step but honestly i was so disappointed with how my pedicure was going, i just wanted to leave. I told the person at check out that I was unhappy with the service and explained to him why. The guy wanted me to sit down so that someone could redo it - which is crazy to ask someone to do when they just spent an hour and a half to leave with half-assed nails. No discount offered, so I had to pay $110 for nails that I wasn't even happy with. Which reminds me, i guess they raised the prices on some of their services. A woman who left before me asked why her bill was more than before and they explained that the service she usually got was raised in price (they didn't tell her that before she sat down for her service). And to top it all off, the new guy at the front desk wearing the top that said ___ Atelier thought it was funny to joke around and pretend to spray the disinfectant spray into one of the tech's drinks when she was asking him to leave her alone. What a horrible time. If you still choose to go here after this review, please only go to see Nancy or Jenna. They are the only two techs have given me a beautiful set of nails. read more

I came down because I was looking for a nail salon in the area. As soon as I walked in I was greeted but greeted in a bit of a weird manner, seemingly rushed host with a lack of interest to help me with my questions (possibly from language barrier). I was very hesitant to go with them but there was only one salon in the area. They placed me with a male attendant to do hard gel set. Not one greeting towards me from him besides asking me if I'd like my nails cut down and what color I'd wanted. It was a very lackluster experience for what it's worth. The gentleman did do a great job on my nails, but after a day i noticed one nail was left with space in between my real nail and the fake nail. I may or may not recommend this to others because I know there are other friendlier and worthwhile salons outside the area. read more

Rude and inconsiderate staff. One of the employees, potentially the owner, routinely parks his Mercedes across the sidewalk and blocks wheelchair access for people in the neighborhood. With a senior care facility nearby, this is an issue. Multiple people with mobility disabilities have had to go out into the street to get around this guys car. When I tried to explain why it was an issue , he told me to "stop talking" before reluctantly moving his car. This shop is a bad neighbor. The people of Playa Vista, especially our seniors and disabled, deserve better. read more

Unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience. I paid $70 (plus a $10 tip), which felt extremely overpriced for the quality I received. The polish had bubbles, the paint job was uneven, and the blue color was so thin you could see right through it -- clearly another coat was needed, but it wasn't offered or applied. The nail tech also wasn't able to do the first design I showed her, and instead of letting me know upfront, she tried a second option that didn't match the color or shimmer effect I wanted. It was clear she was a novice, not a trained professional, and the result reflected that. I left feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. For the price I paid, I expected a much higher standard of work and professionalism. I won't be returning, which is very unfortunate because the first time I tried them, I had a great nail tech and got compliments on my nails for a whole month. I wish I had gotten the same person. Update! Varnish Lab reached out and redid my nails for free with Nancy, the artist. I did leave her a $20 tip for the redo. They did a cat-eye blue-gray color. read more
