I have been going here for quite sometime. I just get a simple gel manicure and as you can see on the board, the price says and always was 35.00. I have been charged 36.00 everything and I'd leave a 20% tip. The last time I was in , one of the girls looked at me and said " 51.00!!! Helen could hear and said nothing. I felt like the woman who was taking my money was looking at me for a reaction to the huge jump in price to see if she could get away with it. I was shocked and felt wronged. But I paid and even left a 10.00 tip will full intention to address this will Helen later. I called today to possibly book a pedicure and told Helen what happened. She had several explanations which made no sense to me and then said that " they have always charged 45.00 in the past for all my visits. I told her that my bank records show all my visits and that I could show her that that wasn't true. She insisted that she did charge 45.00 everything even though my bank records show different. She even said that she can Prove it because that is even the price on their sign says 45.00 ( which it doesn't) and that was more proof than my bank receipts!!??, I am so disappointed and even hurt because I've been a long time customer and she wouldn't listen about my absolute proof and hurt that she just didn't care at all that she was losing me as a customer just to sound right. I'm so glad I found a nail salon that was open at 9am. Can't stand places that open after that because it cuts into my day and I like getting my beautification out the way as early as possible. The ladies there did a wonderful job even though it was only 2 of them working together at the time so these ladies run a tight shift. There prices are reasonable, $35 for a gel mani, $35 gel pedi and $10 for callous removal. After not getting either of these for 6 months due to an infection I got from a different nail salon I sure didn't mind paying $80 here plus tip and going home with a handful of mints. This spa owner needs to reinvest in this business. Bad experience from the moment I stepped in there. Chairs are old and worn out, too cheap to have AC on so I was sweating, and the icing on the cake is when the technician cut into the quick on BOTH of my big toes and made them bleed. First off the owner Helen is very kind and always accommodating! The place is DIRTY and not sanitary. Helen nor her pedicure nail tech do NOT use new files or disinfected tools for each customer. I thought using a NEW file was owning a nail salon 101? Also the ONE person that does pedicures is TERRIBLE. The service I about 20minutes! She's rude and super rough - it is not pleasant or relaxing at all. It's such a bummer because getting hands and feet done at the same time for busy professionals is such a plus. I decided to get my toes done today because it was the only day I was available to & every place I went to they had a 2 hr wait so I came to Helens & I was really impressed by the job they did on my nails. I've been her plenty of times but I was never impressed by the job they did on my toes. I walked in & it was no more than a 5 minute wait. The lady who did my toes did an amazing job. I don't do reviews but I was really disappointed on the service here. The technician that sits in the back started my pedicure and she didn't look happy and was very aggressive with cleaning up my nails and seemed to be rushing and irritated. She pulled a cuticle out pretty hard and i started to bleed. When I was bleeding she said "oh you took to long to get pedicure" like if the bleeding was my fault. I have gone back and forth in my mind about this, I absolutely hate the idea of writing a bad review, but I didn't have a good experience. I came into the nail place today to treat myself to some relaxation after a long year of teaching. When I came in I was greeted and given a seat. My first impression wasn't great, as the seats were wearing out, but I thought I'd try it. I was never offered any type of options or packages, and received a very basic pedicure. The tech was polite, but I felt that the bare minimum was done. My toes look nice, but not great. About half way through, a van backed up to the shop, and someone who I assume was the manager/owner, started carrying in new seat parts. I am glad they were able to get new seats, but they started to take apart the seat next to me, vacuum, and then put the new one together while I was sitting there. I felt that I was in the way, I even tried to see if the sign actually did say "open", or if I had misread things. There was a pile of new seat parts on the floor and it was less than relaxing. I do not plan on coming back. I'm glad they are able to update the salon, but I felt like I was intruding, and I did not feel like I received good service. read more

My nail technician Kelly was very nice (as were the other ladies who worked there) and paid close attention to detail both while trimming my nails and applying polish. I came here today around 10 am. Super sweet people. The service was great. However, their polish was not long lasting. I paid $42 plus a $10 tip for my service and by 5 pm the polish still wasn't set. I wore shoes and when I took them off the polish smudged. They put polish thinner in their nail polish to get more use out of it. I'm really disappointed. I got gel polish on my hands and that polish was really thick and on the verge of dry. This was the worst nail experience I have encountered and I've gotten my nails done at a multitude of places. I came on a weekday and walked into a karaoke session that all the workers were participating in. At first I thought it was cute and they seemed fun. Looking back it really just showed how unprofessional they are and how I should have been weary that I was the only customer. I sat down to have a gel manicure and the women doing my nails was extremely harsh filing not only my gel polish off but the skin around my nail off. Then she cut two of my nails so short that they bled throughout the entire session. I could have cut my nails better in the dark. She did not seem very apologetic and even continued to rub the nail polish remover in it. Multiple times I said "ow" and "that hurts" while she continued to be rough with my injury. I should have just walked out of there. When all was done, I was in pain with lopsided nails and overall mediocre paint job. When I went to pay, the woman told me $30 and then changed it to $31. I was then pressured by a worker sitting in the back to leave a tip which I did, but seriously regret not standing up for myself more. Just don't go here. When I walked in the door I was greeted with a smile but, immediately after that the group of employees (owner included) started to talk to each in their native language (while looking me up and down). It went on for so long (other employees walked over to look at my shoes!) that she had to say "She say, you look so nice do you work today?") Yeah okay... I mean I was dressed nicely but, that one sentence DOES NOT take 10-15 minutes to say! LOL --- Anywho, the owner offers to help me, which I thought was excellent because usually the owner is the best nail tech in the building. Wrong! I had a gel manicure and pedicure (done by another lady). The pedi was decent but my mani was painful. My cuticle on my pinky finger bled and every cuticle on my hand was split so, within a few days I had that gross hanging skin around my nail beds. While I waited for my feet to dry, the owner's son (I'm guessing he's around nine) arrived and began jumping up and down making tons of noise all while begging his mom (who was now on to the next customer) for McDonald's. No offense, but getting my nails done is a time that I like to feel pampered not like I'm at a daycare. Why is it so hard for a girl to find a nail salon that provides excellent service on a consistent basis!?? On to the next! read more

Unfortunately, each time their polish gets worse and it's chipping off the same day! They are clearly thinning their paint to make it last longer. Second, they will over charge you! I asked for coffin nails and stressed that I wanted them to be narrow but it still didn't come out the way I wanted. And some of them are not identical so I have to fix them at home with a nail file. I arrived at 6:05PM and there were two other customers already mid-service, with two employees working. I asked if they would have time for a spa pedicure (they allegedly close at 7:00PM) and was told to pick out a color. A few minutes after I picked out a color, I was pointed to water that was just starting to run into a tub. Thirty-five minutes later, I had feet in cold water and had restarted the massage mechanism on the chair three times, without one word from either lady working. Once the nail tech did finally get to me (with ice cold water), this is what happened in the less than twenty minutes of service I received (keeping in mind I asked for a spa pedicure and not a regular pedicure)... - Didn't clean out under nails or attend to cuticles. - Didn't ask if I wanted calluses removed (just started filing for about ten seconds per foot); put on the remover stuff with the file, but didn't let it sit, and did a REALLY poor job. - Had me put feet back in cold water and tried to file calluses there for a few seconds each... after awkwardly twisting my ankle with no warning, which is very sensitive from an injury last year. - Didn't ask me if I liked nails short or long. - Cut the skin on my left big toe. - Didn't wait for bottom coat to even dry; just applied it, then immediately applied nail polish. - No top coat. - No massage at all until very end (this is usually done before polish is applied, in my experience), lasted less than five minutes total, and was more like a rub than a massage. - Entire time spent with nail tech = less than 20 minutes. - Still charged full price (plus an extra dollar to use card, which wasn't posted anywhere) and tip was still expected. I would never go back here. Ever. My search for a decent pedicure place in Lakewood, which won't cut me or treat me rudely, continues. (And for anyone who wonders why I didn't speak up... I'm autistic and have a difficult time advocating for myself verbally. I'm also very stressed right now, which was my reason for wanting a little pampering, so speaking isn't easy.) read more

Was 5 stars. I LOVED this nail salon. Owner is a Lakewood resident-big bonus for me. It is never busy, it is clean, and quiet and they do a great job,. Unfortunately, on my third visit, I used a credit card and they charged me $1.00 to use my card. I know they get charged a fee between 1-3%, but just raise your prices $1.00, don't tell me you are charging me a surcharge or better yet, just eat the fee. Worst part, either it is a new fee or they just didn't tell me the last two times I was there. It may not be a big deal to many people, but to me, it is just bad business, credit and debit cards are the way people pay, and you need to cater to your customers. In addition, I tip, $5.00 per person that works on me. I told owner I won't be back.
