We had a fiberglass door that had warped over time and was separating from its frame and had a large gap on right hand side that was letting in the elements. We had several contractors including the original supplier Lowes come out to give us an estimate. All said it was not replaceable and that a new one with Sidelights would have to be ordered. Ron came out gave us an estimate explained what he would do to install the door, add our new hardware and add heavy duty hinges. I was struggling to finish installing a door from the house to the garage and an oddly sized bifold closet door. We needed the fire door between the garage and interior of the home repaired or replaced. The door was difficult to open and close and was sagging. Ron Krueger is a well tooled craftsman. He is THE go-to door installer referred by Sierra Padre Mill Co. estbl. 1975, factory and showroom in Encinitas. Sierra Padre is THE go-to door supplier. Ron, and other craftsman that carry every tool they need to arrive at a jobsite, where no job is the same, are not as punctual as some would like. Everything Ron touches requires the discipline and tooling necessary to get the job done without LEAVING the jobsite to "fetch" something. When Ron installs doors in our 80 yr. old home, we immediately "gear down" and enter the "he'll get here when he gets here" frame of mind. Don't mistake that for showing up super-late. Ron is as on-time as any contractor you'll find. If Yelp had photo options you'd see two of his installations in Dec. and Jan. 2018. Ron has a Ford 350 pick-up and brings his enclosed trailer packed with all of the tooling goodies that most carpenters simply do-not-have (i.e; a Vex-bit system that centers fixture screws at true 90-degrees so they finish flush and not crooked). Let Ron do his work, and he'll call you over if he needs your opinion on any little thing he might question. Accept the small things not perfect from a retro-fit, and help him help you for a job you'll be proud to live-with. I agree with Audry F. one little teeny weeny star is all this dude deserves. After countless calls Ron finally showed up to give me an estimate on a double door install. He's a nice enough guy with the exception of being wound a little too tight. Ron told me he would send me my estimate via email in a few days. It has been over a week now and no call, no email. Just bad business. I mean if you don't want the job at least have the decency and professionalism to contact the home owner and tell them that. I look at it this way, Ron just like most people now a days is continually on the phone texting away. What's the big deal with doing a little more menial typing on your dumb phone to let a person know that you do not want the job???? I don't get it. The good thing is I learned a little bit about Ron. He is not dependable and doesn't do what he says he is going to do. I do not want someone like that working in my home because of the trust issues. If Ron can't do what he says he is going to do then why would I hire him to work in my home?? This dude is flat out Lame. read more
