No other place does this around here, Xeriscape or Terrabella doesn't charge this fee so avoid this place unless you want to pay hidden fees and also fully fund their staff on top of your purchase. Also lady at front desks didn't seem like she wanted to be there, they don't welcome you when you walk in or care to acknowledge your presence. I went to pick up rock and paid for 40 pounds bags for a total of 4 bags. Total weight of 160. They made me bags because they didn't have premade bags. I went home and weighed the bags and I was short 14 pounds. I called back and went back they give me 14 pounds that I was short. No apologies. Nothing short of the best here when it comes to customer service. I went to other similar stores and was ignored or treated impatiently. I ordered rock for a backyard project. The ordering process went smoothly and a scheduling representative called me later that day to work out a time for delivery later that week. The day of the delivery, the driver let me know he was on the way and arrived on time. We went to Southwest Boulder & Stone to look at some gravel to use on our back yard renovation . They have plenty of selection to choose from. We picked out the pebbles that we want to use on our backyard and requested for delivery. Price is definitely reasonable and they give military discount. We spoke with Jason the Store Supervisor and he was great to deal with. The day of delivery there was a mix up and the wrong size of pebble was on the truck. I called Jason and told him the situation and he was very responsive and quickly resolved the issue. The delivery driver was very prompt and professional. The rep on the phone was friendly and super helpful when I requested to add mulch to our delivery. Was in the process of starting our backyard project. The first 'step' was building a firepit. Pit was basically dug and lined with brick and just needed the finishing touch with some natural stone. Spoke with Joel and Jonathan (sorry if I mispelled this guys), and they showed me their selection that I could pick from. We discussed the plan and what colors would go best. I used some examples of flagstone from their website to see what they had and they had one of the ones I was very interested in, Barkwood. We put some samples up against the concrete pavers and it was a homerun. They provided me a pallet to start putting my selections on which was perfect since 4' x 4' was the exact size I needed. Joel was kind enough (or excited) to help me do grown up tetris/legoes and pick through the pile of pieces to create the pit. After putting it all on a pallet, I paid, and they put it in the back of my truck. In the end I got the flagstone I needed, employees were extremely helpful and my backyard is on its way to looking great....instead of a big slab of dirt and weeds haha. Their website shows a great selection, but just to let you know each location carries a lot of similar products and SOME unique products. I went to their PB location and they didn't have Barkwood, but they had some other materials CV did not have. Looking forward to using them for any other landscape material needs. I have used this company twice. They are good but they outsource the delivery to SWB in Fallbrook. If they need to correct an issue with delivery it can be awkward for the client but they will work it out. I would use them again the quality of product is consistent. I initially visited another popular company but they had nothing close to a match (or even in stock at that). While Allison G. @ Chula Vista was able to identify my particular granite blend, they didn't have any at that location, but found it in stock at their PB location. I was able to order what I needed same-day pickup for a very reasonable price. Service at both locations were top-notch (even when I showed up annoyingly early to pick up). Last summer we decided to change our front yard landscape from grass to desert style landscaping. We chose a contractor on Yelp that had very high reviews and boy did they deserve it! The contractor recommended we purchase our materials from Southwest Boulder & Stone. I ordered large boulders, D&G with stabilizer, beach pebbles, and pebbles with shells mixed. I watched my contractors the entire process because my office window happens to look out on to my front yard. I watched my contractors dig up my entire grass yard, lay down weed barrier, and lay the D&G, they smoothed and stamped the D&G and watered it slightly a few times. The actual selecting and purchase went smooth. A few things were left out of the delivery which was re-delivered. Two months later, some of my edging was coming out of the ground and I called the contractor back out. My contactor immediately noticed that the D&G was all over the yard as well as my neighbor's yard. He told me that obviously, I paid for D&G with stabilizer, and they did not deliver D&G with stabilizer. He stated I should contact Southwest Boulder & Stone. I did call them and got nowhere after several attempts with the girl answering the phone. I eventually spoke with a manager who said that he would give us a product that would solidify the D&G. I live in La Mesa which is very far from West Chula Vista. Time has gone by, and I finally got an opportunity to go down there and pick up the product. I called to say I was on the way and was told to come pick it up. I arrived and everyone there pretended that they had no idea what I was talking about and the product that I was referring to would not work because it had to be mixed or diluted. It was not my idea to try and patch up the job by adding an additional product in the first place. I spent $1650.00 at their establishment, and they supplied me with the wrong product. A product that was less costly and now runs all over my driveway. It makes a mess in my neighbor's yard. I can't clean my yard with a blower because the D&G just sprawls everywhere, the wind blows and it sprawls everywhere, you walk on it, and it is tracked everywhere. This is because they sold me D&G without stabilizer but charged me for D&G with stabilizer. I am highly upset and wish this business was not recommended. I have plenty of options and would not have selected this establishment. The cost of the graphite grey D&G with stabilizer for 3.5 tons was $277.00. They should have re-delivered the product I paid for once I brought to their attention that I did not receive the product I purchased. I offered them the opportunity to come verify what was delivered and to see it all over my driveway as well as my contractor's information to verify exactly what was done and purchased. I ended up leaving the store on my third attempt to rectify the issue when each person played stupid as if I did not know what I was talking about when mentioning their product that would patch the issue. I don't need a patch. It would have been good business to re-deliver what was originally paid for. If not, reimburse me for the 277.00 so I can purchase from a reputable business that actually values customers and delivers exactly what was ordered. SHAME on them! Worst $1650.00 experience ever! We drive by this place all the time and never think they're open but the huge Boulder on the car always makes us smile. Well we are finally ready to do our front yard and decided to stop by. My husband and I were really impressed with all the employees there. They are all extremely nice and helpful. We aren't used to service like that. Even the workers that were working outside moving material were nice. We aren't sure just yet what type of rock we are using but they made enough of an impression on us that we had to leave a good review for them. Oh, and they have rocks in pails outside, labeled, making it easy to see what is what. Very organized. read more

These guys were SO helpful! They took us under their wing and walked us through the quarry yard. They even had one of the guys in the yard escort us. If we looked at anything, he encouraged us to take a sample, then he'd go wash it and bring it back so we could see the real colors. They helped us figure out how much we needed and what else we needed, like sealing flag stones. The only reason I am not giving them a 5 star review is that the rocks were suppose to be pre-mixed when they delivered them, but were not. We have another delivery coming in a few weeks, we will see if they pre-mix those and if so, I will update the review because everyone has an off day. read more

Called Southwest Boulder & Stone when my wife & I needed materials to repair & extend a decades old mortar and cobblestone retaining wall. James was exceedingly helpful on the phone and later in the office. We wanted several dozen approx softball sized rounded stones and not cracked or broken ones. They were most accommodating: Adam used their large tractor-type vehicle to scoop out a 1/4 yard of stone, piling it right next to our car, then let us cherry pick exactly what we needed. Certainly not his job but Adam, once he knew what we were after, helped sort thru and select usable stones with us. As it turns out the quality of their merchandise is exceptional and there was a plethora of perfect stones - we ended up with 2 or 3 times as many usable stones as expected (all for $25). Our project calls for some larger stones later on and I know exactly where we'll get them. Southwest Boulder & Stone, and especially their friendly helpful staff, is highly recommended. After second visit, wanted to amend my previous review and add a 6th star but couldn't figure out how. Terrifically helpful, friendly staff, especially Brandon. Also, wanted to clarify that on each visit we purchased the stones then picked thru them, selecting only the best of the best. Really nice to see a big, obviously commercial, business like this take the time to help an individual homeowner with a small DIY project. This review is long overdue. We went to SW Boulder to redo our backyard and had an initial idea of our plans. Jonathan helped us identify the different variations of DG and rocks that would work with our idea. His patience and input helped tremendously in helping us finalize our yard. James Jones assisted me and made suggestions and turned my rough measurements into an actual order. The product arrived as promised (received call within an hour to set up delivery). The amount of rock ordered was perfect and the end result was just what I imagined James suggested ordering different size stones and computed the amount of each size to be ordered, end result was PERFECT.
