Attached Communal coffee shop, this neighborhood nursery offers a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants, soil, pottery, basically everything you need for a fresh setup. The impressive array of choices and affordable prices made me fall in love with this place. If I lived in the area, I'd probably buy something new every week! It's the perfect spot to stroll around after breakfast or brunch, coffee in hand. Definitely worth taking a leisurely walk and exploring all the beautiful plants and decor they have to offer.

North park nursery is one of the first nurseries I ever been to in San Diego. It is on the smaller side but they have pretty much all the main houseplants you would want. The prices are average for a nursery and they have some beautiful plants! The staff is very nice and the plus is that there is a coffee shop right next door. The only con is that parking is pretty bad since it's mainly street parking. There are only 3 spots in the front but you'll be lucky if it's open because it's usually taken.

Such a cool nursery! I stumbled upon North Park Nursery after having a great lunch at the next door Communal. All the plants are awesome, healthy, I like their patio and various spaces. It is an oasis of peace and sun and happy plants in the cool North Park. The employees are friendly, i was explained how to take care of plants I was putting in the sun could perfectly go in darker humid places like the bathroom (I was burning some of my babies in the scorching sun). Overall a fantastic nursery!

I purchased this Matilda Poppy a couple of weeks ago at North Park Nursery. It died a few days later - I do have a green thumb! I wanted to see what the root of the problem was & it was shocking when all the soil fell apart and this little plug was in there!!! It didn't have a chance even in heaven of living in this oversized pot! It's HORRIBLE that you are cheating plant people that trust you! The clerk said when I bought it that there is a no return policy. BEYOND SHAMEFUL!!!!

I just got breakfast and coffee next door and decided I deserved a plant after a long week (my own version of self care!). I felt so welcomed and the staff here cares deeply for their costumers and plants. I have worked in retail and customer service for 10 years and understand the balance of managing a store and people at the same time. While Katie and Savannah were busy with a rush of customers, they still smiled and greeted me. I also had specific questions about the best way to care for my bromeliads and Katie answered every question I had. I will absolutely be back because I love to support local businesses, the variety of plants, the option to buy a plant that needs more love at a discount, and how friendly and knowledgeable the staff are. I would recommend this nursery to everyone, it's a hot spot! Thank you Katie and Savannah!!

On the day we visited Communal Coffee, we also stopped at the connected North Park Nursery. We were celebrating my 3 year anniversary of a good health record and picked up a plant just like the one my husband purchased when I was in the hospital. The shop was cozy, the staff was informative and our dog was warmly welcomed at both places. One of the young ladies was also wearing a mask with dogs on it. We left satisfied with beverage, food and remembering and celebrating important milestones. Thank you North Park Nursery for making the day even brighter... #NorthParkNursery #SanDiego #PetFriendly #PlantstoRemember

They were so nice personable and educational. Loved being able to chat plants, care tips, and scout out potential future options.

There's so much to see, so bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and comfy shoes since the ground can be uneven. You'll encounter steps, slopes, and some dirt paths. The parking lot is small and fills up fast, so I like to get there early, especially if I'm doing a big plant haul. It can be tricky loading plants when you're parked far away. What doesn't this place have? There's an onsite bar and grill that's dog‑friendly, has live music, and serves brunch on weekends. There's also a cute boutique flower/gift shop with curated items perfect for any plant lover. They offer free local classes to help educate the community -- I've taken the shrub class, but they have tons of gardening‑related workshops. They have chickens, birds, turtles, and more. They care for and rescue animals, which is amazing. They sell compost, and they have every plant you can imagine, plus a large selection of seeds, pots, tools, beekeeping supplies, and canning equipment. I love that this is a neighborhood, locally owned nursery that truly gives back. They do so much to educate the community and promote sustainability. I met Kayla and she was nice enough to tour me around and discuss some of my options, even though she's a merchandiser and not a "plant expert". She was so helpful and so kind! He educated the hubby and I on how to minimize the grubs in my vegetable garden instead of totally eradicating them. He then educated on how to deal with pesky problems with ants and aphids. We walked away from that area feeling like we were more educated than when we came in and how we would deal with it moving forward using natural ingredients first. This being our first time here we decided to take a look around at the plants and trees and begin to have questions about the pomegranate trees in particular, as they were not in the area as the sign placed. Going to the front we had been standing there for a little bit while Andrew finished with a customer. Coming from the back, Gina approaches the cash register along side a client who was shopping as well who just happened to be finished shopping. She looks at my husband and I and says whichever one gets to you first but will be with you in just a moment and moves the lady in front of us. The lady that she decided to check out in front of us was a little older, so I excused it even though it did feel as if we were rudely overlooked. If Gina appropriately had acknowledge us being there first I wouldn't have said... "we have questions about an item in the back so if you could take care of her first that would be OK with us" but we weren't given the option but I let that go. So as soon as Andrew finishes up with his customer, we begin to discuss our inquiries about the pomegranate trees in the back and stated that we were having trouble locating them because the sign is possibly in the wrong place or maybe they were just out. So we asked, could he take us to the location so we could look together as there are so many trees and shrubs. Now, Gina is finished with her customer and is wandering around the cashier desk and he asked her could she assist us because he could not leave the cash register. She then taps her wrist looking at him and us and says I have to clock out..... what happened to her statement "which ever one of us finishes with you first will be with you right away... so he says can you stay here and watch the desk while I go take the customers to look for the item and she says sure..... Keep in mind... We arrived an hour and 15 minutes before closing so we have been here and still have half an hour until closing time. My husband and I felt very uncomfortable about the customer service as it felt like Gina was really cold and rude. She didn't appear to want to assist us anyway as her face and body language spoke a thousand words without apology. I really hope this was a fluke day for her as I would hate to think that she treats anyone this way representing Armstrong Garden. Andrew on the other hand is such a sweet guy, I told him we wouldn't take much of his time. He then said that the store made a mistake and that he would move the sign because they indeed were out of the taller pomegranate trees and was sorry and would move it to avoid confusion. He then showed us a section that had smaller pomegranate trees called "Wonderful" and a "Azadi" Persian Pomegranate tree that hadn't matured which was fine. We ended up buying both along with a grape vine. If it hadn't been for Andrew, I wouldn't have purchased from here just because the interaction and feeling we got from Gina was really rude.
