Jackie and Ty, the two ladies working for Southwest in Spokane, Washington, provided the worst customer service I've ever experienced. At first, I thought I was the only one being treated poorly, but after watching their interactions with other passengers, it became clear that many customers were treated the same way. One passenger had fallen asleep near the gate while waiting to board. He woke up just as the boarding door was about to close and immediately tried to get on the plane. Instead of showing any understanding or compassion, they refused to let him board simply because he had been sleeping by the gate. Customer service should be professional, respectful, and empathetic. Nothing like sheer panic when you realize you screwed up when buying a ticket for a family member! I bought my brother a ticket today on Southwest Airlines from Spokane WA to Chicago. Unfortunately, I entered MY birthday in the reservation instead of my brother's! Ironically enough, we share the same birth date (born on the same day!) just one year apart! So in my rush I entered the year I was born instead of the year he was! He calls me from the ticket counter, frantic, telling me what I'd fine and that they were sending him to customer service!! But instead of being told he had to repurchase a ticket with the correct info, there was an amazing rep in the customer service department of Southwest (Spokane airport) who quickly fixed everything without missing a beat! She was super sweet, reassuring my brother that he would not miss his flight, and issued him a new ticket to get thru security with no problems! Just wanted to shout out to Southwest customer service inside the Spokane airport and day "THANKS" for not ruining the trip or making us pay for a new ticket (which they could have done!!). You guys rock and that's why our whole family loves to fly Southwest!!! read more

Southwest does a great job of boarding their passengers in an orderly and timely fashion. Both outbound and inbound flights were totally full. Beverage service was swift and efficient. The head flight attendant was humorous when giving the safety precautions. The pilot informed us that the flight would be a little turbulent upon descent. read more

Very disappointing! Our first and last time booking with your airlines. Smelled jet fuel and was told people who sit by the wings always smell jet fuel. Five hour flight and barely managed to get a cup of water and was handed a bag of close to pull date wheat thins that was like eating saw dust. Too many bad things to list. Pilot dropped the plane on landing so hard my stomach hurt. We bounced on the run way. Out of four flights, one was good. Not a good percentage. read more

I understand there is a federal "mandate" for everyone 2 years old and older to wear a mask on a plane. But that Southwest Airline gatekeeper in the Spokane Airport was a real witch about my son (2 yo and 10 days) to wear a mask. She literally would not let my family get on the jet way until my son kept his mask on for however long she deemed fit. Then she followed me all the way to the plane making sure my 2 yr old kept his mask on. Then as we walked through the plane she made sure to tell the flight staff my son was 2 yrs old and needed a mask. She went above and beyond to ensure my 2 yr old wore his mask and threatened to remove us if he took it off. Luckily, the flight staff was super cool and reasonable about little kids wearing masks. The flight staff being reasonable with my 2 yr old is the only reason this review got 2 stars instead of one. FTB! FJB! read more

Anytime I've pre-boarded due to being disabled I've never had to explain myself nor have I ever felt so uncomfortable. Jenn at Gate A15 at 5:25am today was completely unprofessional and insensitive to my needs. She asked rudely and disingenuously if I needed assistance or what I needed. I replied letting her know I just need to pre-board like I regularly do. I have herniated and bulging disks, and I cannot stand for very long. Since she didn't feel my doctor defined disability was allowing me to pre-board she told me I needed to go to costumer service and have them help me. For the sake of transparency and no misunderstanding I asked, "so you would like me to go walk somewhere else and stand in line when I just told you I can't stand for long, because you don't feel like I qualify as disabled. Technically you can ask me questions but you really have no compassion and are quite rude." She said she could ask me about my disability and smiled and again asked me to walk over to customer service. Customer service gentleman Adam was nice enough and looked confused when I asked him for a pre-boarding pass because technically you don't need 1. The point of being let in as disabled is to be helpful and that can happen at the terminal. I hope whomever reads this from the airport or Southwest Gate:A15 Flight: WN 1034 sees this as a serious coaching opportunity with Jenn. I'm looking forward to a reply from here, Southwest corporate or her direct manager, all of whom I will be reaching out to by end of day today! read more

I checked in to Southwest this morning on my way home to Sacramento from Spokane. I had my dad's remains in the bag I was checking and I wanted them to know so if TSA checked it they didn't open the container. I so wish I could remember the man's name that helped me to give him a shout out but I don't :/ I do remember that he commented that I was the 3rd person to come through today with a 2/13 birthday which was the same as his :) Anyhow, he was so kind and said he was sorry for my loss and reached over and gave me a hug. You know I'm a very very frequent traveler and I travel both international and state side. Today I'm taking my son to airport as he is 12 and flying home after the Christmas break. Spokane is a very small airport but today as expected it is a bit busy and as always patients is required. As I walked my son up to the Kios to get him checked in I wanted to obtain a parent boarding pass so I would be allowed to walk him to his gate. We are new to the process and do this when he's flying. After I checked him in I kindly asked the gate agent if I could get a pass. There was a man with a child standing next to me but she was not in conversation with him so I thought it was ok to ask a questions. She rudely snapped at me and stopped me mid sentences and says, "Ma'am I'm not ready to help you and I'm not finished so just wait until your addressed!" Not only was she rude but I was completely taken back and everyone that heard heard looked like what is her issues and she must be having a bad day. As not to make the situation worse I kept on standing there but I was fuming at her uncalled for rude response. I'm wiring here in hopes that management looks at this and perhaps does some more customer service training. I fly southwest often but this even would certainly give me pause. read more

I wish I could leave more than 5 stars, but they won't let me! I have flown SW several times and have never had anything but excellence and professional service from them. I grew up in a foreign service diplomat family and have lived and flown all over the world. Except for KLM, SW is the best. My dear friend was here for a funeral two years ago and I took him to GEG for his flight home, which was delayed by a couple of hours.(NOT the ticket agent's fault!) He and I sat there, in the lobby,both crying. An agent called me over and asked if I would like to go to the gate with my bud. Would I ?! Hell to the yes ! She took my ID , vetted me and gave me a TSA pass. She took mercy on our situation and was more than kind, above and beyond. I'll never forget that. Love me some Southwest! read more

Normally, flying with Southwest is fine. Today, we arrived at the airport early and waited 40 minutes to check our luggage. While in line, I receive a text message that our 6:30 pm flight has been postponed until 12:50 am. All this time, only there were only two employees checking in people and the line was longer than I have ever seen. No one was giving updates or explanations as to what was going on either. For the most part, people were keeping their cool, which wS good to see. Luckily our flight from Spokane to Boise is a short one, but some communication would be nice. 5 hours later, and still no one is at the gate to update us. Hopefully my young daughter and I make it home tonight and we won't have to sleep in the airport. read more

This would totally be okay except I have no water, can not buy any water, and so will not be able to take my medication as scheduled. Southwest Airlines has been my angel wings throughout the birth of my first grandchild; had to reschedule my flights to witness this birth. Each time Southwest has been so endearing and such an integral part of me arriving on time for this precious moment. Almost as if each agent was a grandparent or soon to be grandparent and valued the importance of my safe & timely arrival .. That was June 25th 2016. Now I will travel every 2 mos or so to be a part of my granddaughter's life. Friday Sept 23, 2016 once again Southwest spread their Angel Wings to help me spend a few extra hours when I arrive Sept 30 so I can put my Granddaughter to bed, and have this moment. Very unhappy customer. I received a deep discount on a rental car and had SW rep cancel my pre-booked rental to find the price was not honored. Spend 2 hours on the phone and lost my original rental rate. DO NOT BE FOOLED be email solicitations claiming fake discounts. The staff at the Spokane airport check-in were the most unfriendly Southwest staff I have ever encountered with Southwest airlines.

Shame on Southwest Airlines so the cancelled flight #6351 GEG-LAS they said they called people and emailed people no calls or emails were sent. Yvonne at GEG ticket counter stated I am sorry there are no other flights we will have to rebook you sometime tomorrow. She did not offer to rebook anyone on another airline that had flights and open seats I have never seen any customer service agent with such a bad attitude and not helpful. She was asked to cancel the flight from GEG-LAS-LAX so she then decided to cancel the whole trip and said oh sorry nothing I can do I all ready hit cancel which she completely did on purpose. Southwest you need to make this right refund the cost of the ticket getting to LAX when booked, then rebook the original return flight this is not proper customer service and you have awful people working for you in GEG. #dontflysouthwest Yvonne needs to be fired she is a horrible customer service representative!!!! read more

the staff was amazing with my flight the other day! my flight was canceled and it was the busiest weekend in cda/ spokane and they still found me a hotel and paid for it! even though i was stressed and probably not the nicest they were still very accommodating and nice! i love southwest and would continue to fly with them anyday. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the treatment I have received today as a mother traveling with two young children and because they were over the age of six we were not allowed to do family boarding. On my pass I was in group B and both my children were in group C. I asked if my kids could board with me and I was told "no! But you can board with them!" When I mentioned that there would likely not be 3 seats together, I was told in an extremely rude and disrespectful tone by the boarding agent, "nope! Likely not! That's the way it goes!" My 8 year old began crying and I had to console her so that we could board the plane. When we boarded, there were no seats together. And in fact the seats available were scattered all over the plane. Luckily a nice couple volunteered to move because my youngest was now sobbing, and so my two kids were able to sit together! I apologized to the flight attendants and explained that I had tried to avoid the situation and they were surprised by the way we were treated. My husband is a frequent flyer and SW rewards member and I told him that I will NEVER fly southwest again especially with the children! Traveling with kids is already so stressful and it's absolutely unacceptable for parents/people to be treated this way! I will vote with my dollars moving forward! read more
