As a long time SWA customer, I feel compelled to weigh in on the recent changes and how the experience of flying SWA has evolved. Even with the seat assignments, charging for the 2nd bag and having to check in for boarding groups can seem more cumbersome and inefficient; the one thing that STILL stands out to me is the Gold Standard of customer service that has NOT changed! From curb check-in, Ticket counter and Gate agents, everyone still greets me with a smile, and goes above and beyond to help with any questions or concerns. I especially would like to point out a recent experience I had at the Seattle Ticket Counter with agent: Vise - She was so gracious, and worked to reroute us even though our booked flights were over 10 hours away still, and put us in seats together through both legs of our trip and got us home a half day earlier than planned. This has helped me realize that great customer service still exists and that is why I still Fly SWA! :) read more

** Southwest is now counting neck-pillows, tiny cross bodypurses on self, etc as a Carry on item. If you cannot put it in your purse or carry on suitcase then you have you pay $35 to check it on and $45 for second check on and I believe it's $150 for the 3rd if you have additional. Tip* if you have a Free drink ticket with your boarding pass you may have to inform the crew before you sit down. When I tried on my departing flight to use it the flight attendant wouldn't take it ("drinks are free") and I was too tired to discuss over other passengers next to me. Was better before the change... Southwest was always our go to DC on and off friendly service never delays ...flight delayed... People have way too many bags. It took at least 20 minutes to get that all sorted out, I get checked mine because they said it was gonna be full so here we are an hour and a half late getting home, but oh well hope they figure it out. These jokers took a late flight and made it three hours later than it should be so I am arriving. I'm leaving Seattle at the time I should've been arriving in Oakland. No Bueno. I like the airline, based more on past experience, than on how they are now. I find that if I'm not leaving from Oakland, where they are based, that it's a real crap shoot. The problem is also that they aren't as cheap as they used to be. I'd put up with this for a $50 ticket. But those days are long gone and going to Southern California costs $400-800 if your flight is coming up soon. An early ticket is over $200. That's a lot of money for such crappy service. I hope they get their act together and start treating us customers with value. Especially, since what upset me is that once I'm on my way home, I really want to get there and the delay tactics are very frustrating after such a fantastic visit. read more

Will not be traveling with this airline again. The disregard for my bag after paying $35 to check it in just to have souvenirs and luggage tags disappear and items in my bag damaged. My bag was left partially opened. Tried to talk to a staff member at the airport. No help. Called. No help. Filed a claim with lost and found and they refuse to do anything. They aren't even willing to reimburse me for the items or the baggage fee. I have almost always flown with this company but, with the disregard to money I spent and my personal items, I can't trust them. All they want is money. What happened to customers actually mattering. You are missing a revenue opportunity, people. After cancelling my flight from Denver to Atlanta on 1/9/2025, you allowed me to re-route to Birmingham rather than be delayed for an additional 18 hours. HOWEVER, you did not tell me that this constituted a "voluntary separation" from my luggage, nor that it would not travel to Birmingham with me. When I reached Birmingham, the luggage was not there. The baggage agent told me that it had been re-routed to Phoenix and would not reach Atlanta until the next day. I was NOT told that I needed to file a claim online, until the FOURTH phone call to your customer service number. I both had to wait until after 8pm Friday evening for the luggage to reach Atlanta, AND THEN had to go to the airport to retrieve the luggage once it had arrived at ATL. By then I would have been willing to PAY YOU an additional $50 to deliver it to the hotel. You are missing a revenue opportunity here, people. The above was submitted verbatim to the SWA website. Always enjoy flying Southwest. Came in from Seattle and the flight crew was hilarious. They even put some passengers in their place (e.g., swearing). However, due to delays beyond Southwest's control, the flight to Phoenix was delayed long enough that there was no continuation flight available at all tonight.
