WARNING: They threatened to "put a lien on the house" when I questioned their pricing…read more I'm 45 years old, have lived in three 100-year-old homes, and have never before left a negative review for a contractor. I hired Honey Go Fix It to reseat a toilet. I chose them because of their 4.9 Google rating and promise of a free estimate. When the plumber arrived, I approved and signed an estimate on a small phone screen. I trusted what he was telling me and was not shown the actual dollar amount displayed clearly on the screen before signing. The technician completed the work in less than 20 minutes and then showed me a bill for $481.65. I was stunned. A wax ring costs about $10 and no other materials were needed. The price was astronomical for the work performed. The verbal quote was mumbled and unclear. When I saw $481.65 on the final bill, I genuinely thought there was a mistake. I declined to pay immediately and called the office to resolve it. Here's where it really went wrong. I spoke to Kassandra, the President of the company, to discuss the situation. Within the first two minutes, before I could even fully explain what happened, she threatened to file a lien on my house if I didn't pay immediately. I offered to pay $300 to resolve it amicably. That's still $900/hour for 20 minutes of work with a $10 part. Kassandra refused via email, claiming their responsibility is to "maintain fair and consistent pricing," while simultaneously admitting that they are "adding extra clarity steps during the estimate approval process to help prevent future misunderstandings." Consistent pricing? Maybe. Fair? Absolutely not. The owner acknowledged in writing that their current process causes confusion. Yet, she still demanded full payment and threatened our property rights. Being immediately threatened with a lien on our house for simply asking questions destroyed any chance of restoring trust in her company. I paid the invoice to avoid the hassle of a lien, but I'm leaving this review so others can protect themselves. If you use this company: 1. Get the total dollar amount in writing, on paper, in large readable text, before you sign anything. 2. Research what competing plumbers charge for the same work. 3. If you can't clearly see the price or feel rushed or pressured, do not sign. This company has lost my business and recommendation. I hope this review helps you make an informed choice.

I told him no thanks, he didnt charge me so that was good. I called Korrect plumbing, 2 nicely dressed, clean gentleman showed up and after about 1 1/2 hours of snaking our drain was unclogged, charged me $450. call Korrect they are professional, hard working and honest.

Tonight we had a pipe burst under a sink in the upstairs bath, water gushing everywhere and leaking through the floor into the kitchen then into the basement! Horrific! Once we turned off the main water, we called Summers and they had a fantastic plumber named Craig Keith out within 30 mins. He had the pipe replaced and our water back on within an hour, absolutely unheard of this kind of service and quality of work after 8pm. This water wizard was very respectful of our property (even though it was soaked) and did an incredible job, and the price was more than fair considering the time of night and the mess. We will always call Summers for any plumbing or HVAC needs and we truly appreciate this company.

We (stupidly) agreed and bought a new furnace and a/c unit. $20k! After the installation the system didn't work. Summers' troubleshooter couldn't figure out the problem (he blamed our electrical panel), It took an independent electrician to figure out that two wires were crossed. Last week, a family member had Summers out for a routine check-up. She wasn't having any problems. Summers sales rep/tech (same guy) told her that her system was corroded and moldy and should be replaced. She was smart enough to get a second opinion. Her system was fine. No corrosion! We were scammed. It is nearly impossible to talk to anyone at Summers (all AI) and the General Manager does not return Phone calls. Do not use Summers.

The job was to replace a broken pipe between the well and the house. It involved cutting up the concrete patio. They also replaced the little galvanized plumbing we had left and put in a new pressure tank. What I particularly liked about Five Star was the quality of work and that fact that they had a person, Jacob, that followed up and made sure that work progressed and was done to my satisfaction. I view that as a good quality control. I also liked the fact that they were the lowest cost by far. Would recommend that to any friends.

Then after the job was done, zero invoices were ever given, just an end price, and the owner called DEMANDING a check be brought to them immediately, and if it weren't, they would continue charging me. (Side note: this is an investment property, and no one lives here). I explained that it was 6:30 in the evening and I was making dinner, and I couldn't stop what I was doing to drive them a check to their office or the property. He told me the technician wouldn't be leaving until they got paid, and I told them I would be calling the police to remove him from the property. They then left. Then the next day, I went to the property, and they didn't even clean up or fix the woodwork they took off. The property was much messier than I ever expected. I thought they would clean up and fix what they took off. Nope, they throw it to the side like it isn't their problem. Also, we had them look at the powder room sink, and they stated they knew exactly what the problem was- they could fix it. They did all this stuff to it, and it's still leaking. I explained I shouldn't have to pay for something they tried to fix but didn't work. Then they had the nerve to ask if I wanted them to come back tomorrow to fix it. We also asked them to install the bathtub, and they didn't even put the walls on. We had the base completely installed and in place. They just needed to do the plumbing and put the walls on- they couldn't even do that!!! Next, the billing. When we called to book, we were told the pricing was hourly, and they don't come out to do estimates. Pricing included labor and materials. Come to find out, pricing was only labor. Different than what we were told. Then after talking with the technician, they seemed very confident that everything could be done that day. Then we got a call later that evening stating they couldn't get it all done, so they would need a few hours the next day- okay, fine. We understand things sometimes don't go as planned. Then the next day, we got a call at 6:00 pm stating they had just finished! What in gods name were they doing all day?! So, my assistant went over there to lock up, and the technician was very nice; his name was Lee. But Lee stated he stopped the clock on us because he felt bad about continuing to charge us the way the owner had told him to do. (Lovely Owner) Then the owner told me on the phone that they weren't leaving until he got paid. I get that times are tough, but maybe make your expectations known ahead of time if you plan to demand payment be rendered immediately and aggressively. Next, if you choose to use this "business" for any projects, I highly recommend you stay there to babysit, guaranteeing that all work is done properly. Lastly, use this company with caution. I would seriously consider these reviews before even calling Merrell Plumbing. This was a great lesson for me, and I would hate for anyone to make the same mistake I did.

After they were done someone had to come back once to tighten the faucet handle and put in a little bit more caulking in one area. They came back based on our schedule, not theirs.
