I cannot recommend Davis #173-5933 from Roto-Rooter highly enough…read more From my very first conversation with him through the completion of the job, Davis was the epitome of professionalism. He was honest, knowledgeable, communicative, and transparent every step of the way. As an out-of-state property owner, I especially appreciated how he kept me informed throughout the process, explained what needed to be done and why, and never pressured me into unnecessary work. After dealing with two other companies whose service left much to be desired, working with Davis was a breath of fresh air. He restored my confidence that there are still contractors who value integrity and customer service, unlike Service Experts and Integrity Plumbing & Drain. He completed the installation promptly, kept his word, and ensured my tenant had hot water restored as quickly as possible. If you're looking for a plumber you can trust, ask for Davis at Roto-Rooter. His professionalism, honesty, and commitment to doing the job right are exactly what every homeowner hopes to find. Thank you, Davis, for turning a stressful situation into a positive experience. The Roto-Rooter representative who took my call and connected me with Davis was fantastic as well. Finally, the value, quality, timeliness, timer service, and professionalism far outpaced Service Experts and Integrity Plumbing & Drain.

WARNING: They threatened to "put a lien on the house" when I questioned their pricing…read more I'm 45 years old, have lived in three 100-year-old homes, and have never before left a negative review for a contractor. I hired Honey Go Fix It to reseat a toilet. I chose them because of their 4.9 Google rating and promise of a free estimate. When the plumber arrived, I approved and signed an estimate on a small phone screen. I trusted what he was telling me and was not shown the actual dollar amount displayed clearly on the screen before signing. The technician completed the work in less than 20 minutes and then showed me a bill for $481.65. I was stunned. A wax ring costs about $10 and no other materials were needed. The price was astronomical for the work performed. The verbal quote was mumbled and unclear. When I saw $481.65 on the final bill, I genuinely thought there was a mistake. I declined to pay immediately and called the office to resolve it. Here's where it really went wrong. I spoke to Kassandra, the President of the company, to discuss the situation. Within the first two minutes, before I could even fully explain what happened, she threatened to file a lien on my house if I didn't pay immediately. I offered to pay $300 to resolve it amicably. That's still $900/hour for 20 minutes of work with a $10 part. Kassandra refused via email, claiming their responsibility is to "maintain fair and consistent pricing," while simultaneously admitting that they are "adding extra clarity steps during the estimate approval process to help prevent future misunderstandings." Consistent pricing? Maybe. Fair? Absolutely not. The owner acknowledged in writing that their current process causes confusion. Yet, she still demanded full payment and threatened our property rights. Being immediately threatened with a lien on our house for simply asking questions destroyed any chance of restoring trust in her company. I paid the invoice to avoid the hassle of a lien, but I'm leaving this review so others can protect themselves. If you use this company: 1. Get the total dollar amount in writing, on paper, in large readable text, before you sign anything. 2. Research what competing plumbers charge for the same work. 3. If you can't clearly see the price or feel rushed or pressured, do not sign. This company has lost my business and recommendation. I hope this review helps you make an informed choice.

Last summer I bought a Plumbing Service Contract from SouthTowne Plumbing. I've had two bad…read moreexperiences and cannot recommend their plumbing services or their service plan to others. Today their plumber wanted to charge me $430 to finish installing a new faucet in my kitchen. The shut off valves were working, I'd already removed one line. All he needed to do was remove the one side I could not easily reach (I am old) and reinstall the two nuts holding down the new faucet I'd already purchased. No sprayer, no replacement valves, no new sink, no replacement lines - all I asked him to do was just remove one bolt and reinstall two more bolts - and he wanted $430~~~ I ended up completing the job by myself. It was a 15 minute job. The last time I hired them was because I had a water leak that caused me to have a $600 quarterly water bill - more than 3 times my normal usage. I was not sure where the leak was - I paid them about $700 initially to locate the leak replace an outside faucet an inside faucet and a leak in a line. This work was needed - but the next water bill was still $700. So I paid them again - several hundred dollars just to locate the leak. After several visits they claimed it was beneath the slab. They wanted to Excavate my front yard with a backhoe, and cut into the concrete slab to replace the line from to the street to inside the house where the water shut off valve was - they wanted to come in from the right side of the house, by the laundry room. They quoted $15000 which did not include additional charges that might occur if they had to do additional cutting into my slab - as they were not certain where the leak was other than to say it was beneath the concrete slab. That cost did not include the cost of replacing flooring etc. So I shopped around. Several other plumbers said that was crazy. my water line ran to the LEFT side of the house where the sewer clean out was and that was where the replacement line should be run - there was no need to cut into the slab at all as the leak was in the line coming to the house not beneath the slab at all. They said any competent plumber would know this as the materials for the line to the house used by the big homebuilder who built this plat and many others in the Dayton area in the 1980s and 1990s was made of polybutylene - which is no longer sold as it was a defective material. Polybutylene lines are a known cause of water leaks in the area. It is a Common problem. Ultimately I was able to get the work done for less than a THIRD of what SouthTowne estimated - without the mess of excavation. Without needing to replace flooring or repair the lawn. Please Note - SouthTowne did not have the equipment needed to detect leaks beneath a slab. They did not have the equipment to drill a new line without excavating. Their employees were young kids who did not know what to do, and their estimate was ridiculous. By the time I finally got the work done correctly, while SouthTowne fumbled the ball - I had incurred THREE quarterly water bills each $600-700. SouthTowne's incompetence and dishonesty cost me a bundle just from leaking water consumption. I will never use them again for plumbing. I am very sorry I paid for their "service plan".

CJS Heating & Air and Bassett Services of Dayton, Ohio,…read more I've been torn between writing to express my thoughts and opinions about the company's operations. I chose CJS based on its 5-star rating and positive reviews, but we've been deeply disappointed with the installation process of our new HVAC system. From the very beginning, we've been frustrated by the lack of communication among the technicians, supervisors, branch managers, and other staff members. While the technicians who've worked on the system are all incredibly talented, professional, and personable, it's crucial to have a connection with the people hired for a major home renovation project. Homeowners spend several days or even weeks with the contractors, so it's an opportunity to get to know them. Here's how the situation unfolded. In late March, our old flooring was damaged due to damp moisture under the planks, gaps, and mold. The remaining planks had to be removed, and the mold cleaned before the renovation could begin. We had to replace our entire HVAC system from a down-flow to an up-flow. The slab ductwork was concreted, and new ductwork was installed in the attic. Another company performed slab jacking with polyurethane, which caused us to endure the inconvenience of walking on a concrete floor from March to July. As customers, we value clear communication, so it was disheartening to witness the lack of support between the company technicians and supervisors. Observing the situation, it became evident that there was a rift of internal conflict within the company. On June 11th, Dominic, Brandon, and a female technician who was just starting her career arrived around the end of May. We were informed that the job would take two days, possibly three. Initially, things seemed to be progressing well. However, on June 12th, the situation took a turn for the worse. Dominic, Brandon, and another technician arrived. The day began well, but we soon noticed Dominic's frustration and poor performance. The ductwork hadn't been installed to the attic frame, and the temperature gauge was malfunctioning. The company replaced it with a new one, and we were assured everything was working properly. However, this proved to be false. The temperature gauge kept showing high readings, leading to a significant increase in our electric bill. We requested another technician, CJS, to recheck the entire system. Dominic returned alone that day, as his colleague had called out sick. Upon his arrival, he realized the extent of the unfinished work. Two areas of the ductwork had collapsed, and the vents were not properly framed. Insulation and dust were scattered everywhere, effectively turning the attic into an air conditioning unit. Brayden had assured us the job was complete, but Dominic worked until 1 am that morning, insisting it was done. We repeatedly requested a return, as we still felt the dust and insulation. Dominic assured us everything was fine, but we discovered other issues. We feel like we've been victims of internal company conflicts. We've been treated like two complaining old ladies, but you underestimated our determination. This major renovation project lacked attention to detail, and the technicians failed to inform us and upper management that the job wasn't finished. If your workers are unhappy and in conflict with management, customers suffer from a lack of trust in the company. Communication between employees and customers was poor, and in good conscience, we can't give this company a five-star rating for their service. It took the entire month of June and mid July for your company to complete this project, which is unacceptable. We understand that life happens and there are things beyond the company's control, but this is unacceptable. We encountered some incredible individuals during this process. Please ensure that everything is handled correctly. If your customers perceive the lack of communication and frustration between technicians and upper management, the company will start losing customers. I genuinely hope you can improve the company's communication, particularly with the company owners and managers. Perhaps there should be some compensation for our patience and understanding. I need to focus on my health now. The last day on July 27th, upper management failed to inform the technician, Dominic, about the necessary materials to complete the job accurately. Dominic completed the job, but we both informed Dominic that day that the company needs to improve communication because we can see the internal conflict as customers. Despite their 5-star rating, we cannot give them a 5-star rating based on our experience. This job required meticulous attention to detail, and your company's issues affected the quality of the work. It has been incredibly frustrating because it has taken two months to resolve all the issues that were not addressed during the first two or three days. If it had only taken weeks, we could have adapted.
