This is certainly more than a hardware store, offering your standard stuff like hardware (including specialty pieces) and pints, but they also sell work clothing, home decor, seasoning for grilling, and everything in between. The staff is all very friendly, and attentive, quick to help find what you're looking for. My one complaint is their pricing. Though it's convenient and closer than going to the bigger stores, there pricing is very high on a lot of product. Sale items are a little more comparable, but I'll be honest that I think they will have trouble surviving if their pricing structure doesn't get adjusted.

Quality Hardware is everything you could ever want in a local hardware store. For the size of the store, it is really remarkable how much variety they have crammed in, and the absolutely amazing staff don't hesitate to help you figure out a solution to any problem. I can't tell you the number of times I have walked in with a poorly explained question, or half of a broken piece of something, and they've immediately identified what I needed, showed me where to find it, and explained to me the best way to fix something. For your average 90's kid who is maybe not the best a home repairs, Quality Hardware is constantly the lifesaver I need them to be on small home repairs! For bonus points, you can't forget how wonderful the fresh popped popcorn is. It really lightens up a frustrating unplanned repair to get a bag of delicious, fresh popcorn for less than 50 cents!

Hard to find those anymore unless you head down Bessemer Avenue to McKnight Hardware. That place is Mom and Pop through and through. I have been going to McKnight Hardware since I moved to this neighborhood over 20 years ago and the staff rarely changes. The store is incredibly convenient and although I've never priced compared them with a Walmart or Home Depot, I'm happy to pay the price and support the OG hardware store in the area. Over the years I have seen many young men and women who started as teen helpers become cashiers and managers. The place has a family feel and the staff always knows exactly what they are talking about! It's also my go-to when I need to make some keys! I can always count on McKnight for whatever my needs are. Whether I'm looking for bird seed or glue or paint or a nail, they have it! I recently bought my weed whacker from them and I love how they are right down the street from me if I need it to be serviced, which I recently did. They used to have a pretty extensive garden nursery but it has slowed down over the years. In the early years I was even able to buy some lily pads! Lol But all of your other departments are well stocked and well priced and it's so nice to have a staff person that knows what they are talking about! There is plenty of parking right up front and it's conveniently located on Bessemer Avenue. I encourage you to patronize this place. It breaks my heart to see so many wonderful stores like McKnight Hardware shut down and give way to the big chains. It is the day before Thanksgiving and as a last minute idea I decided to smoke my turkey using the Traeger turkey and brine pellet combo. I looked online and saw Ace carried the product and had it in stock so I placed the order online. After an hour or so I had not heard anything about being able to pick it up so I tried to call the store 19 times! I wish I was being sarcastic, but I am being literal. I got no answer any of the 19 calls, I called the corporate number to check on my order. They confirmed that the store was in fact OPEN, so there was no reason for them not to be answering. I was also ensured that my order was ready for pick up. I drove one hour to the location only to find out that the store closed at 1pm. Before I placed the order I checking google and their Facebook page to make sure they were open, which they were supposed to be. Apparently I was not the only one surprised by this because there were six other people that were attempting to enter the store while I was trying to understand this stupidity of this circumstance. I decided to call the corporate number to cancel my order and they were just as confused as be about them being closed. Apparently they also had no knowledge that one of their stores was closing early. They told me I should file a complaint. I typically would not complain about something like this because I understand that employees need time with their families for holidays, but to not make any update of this information in a location that a customer would look is completely ridiculous from a business point of view. If you are looking for any products they carry I can assure you there are more dependable and reliable places not too far from here. Do yourself a favor and just go somewhere else.

When checking out my child was carrying a stuffed animal that was purchased from a small business store nearby. Oddly enough I guess Ace Hardware sells the same item and the associate asked if "I was going to purchase the item" my child was carrying. I informed her it was purchased at another store. I feel like once I said that the associate should have believed me, but insisted on seeing the receipt. She also mentioned " if she would have seen my child walk in with it she wouldn't need to see the receipt." Well no duh, so I said "call the cops and we can check all the cameras you guys have up." She then said "don't worry about it." I had to call my wife over and she provided a digital receipt from the small business purchase. I don't recall getting a thanks or apology from the associate. Could have been handed better by the associate. Would have been embarrassing if other customers were around but the only other person around was another associate. I've been going there many years and they have a good selection of many different items so I do recommend checking them out.

Every time I drive here for some odd thing they always seem to have it and at a reasonable price. Case in point, just today I needed a 5/8" bore 2" drive pulley. Lowe's didn't have them, Home Depot didn't have them, and neither did the hardware store in THOMASVILLE or Southside in High Point. Williams in Sophia had one, but I needed two. Amazon sent me one but it can with the wrong bore. Not only did Hillville have FOUR of them in stock but they were 1/4 of the price I paid on Amazon. I feel a little bad that they aren't higher on my list but living in the north end of High Point just doesn't put them top of mind. Neat place that reminds me of my father-in-law's old country hardware store back in Ohio.

My first contact with this store was for a warranty repair on my Craftsman riding mower. I had to…read morepay the fee to have them pick it up and return it, but otherwise the repair was free. What I didn't like with that interaction was the fact that they returned my mower without letting me know they had returned it. Luckily, I have a Ring doorbell. I was notified of motion in my driveway. I went outside to look, and my mower was just sitting in my driveway in front of my garage door. They did not call me to tell me that they were on the way, and they did not ring my doorbell to let me know they were there to drop the mower off. I happened to be off work that day, and was able to move my mower inside my garage as soon as I knew it was there. If I hadn't been home, it would have sat there all day with the key in the ignition for anybody to steal. I'm just glad it wasn't raining out. My second contact with this store went much better. I needed to make a copy of my house key. Places like Lowe's and Walmart have moved to the key cutting kiosk, instead of having an employee do it. I prefer to have the hands on approach. I went to the back counter and handed the guy my key. He cut it for me, and I went to pay at the front register. I was happy to hear that it was only $3. Those kiosks charge about twice that much.

Their selection may not be as deep as the big box guys, but they usually have what I'm looking for and at a fair price. Given that I don't have to drive very far is a big advantage for me. I'v had keys made here on more than one occassion and also some woodwork specialty tools, hardware and paint. The staff that I have worked with have all been friendly and professional.
