WHERE do I begin? How about Marvin, the tech who arrived a few hours after I had contacted this…read moreservice, Just Saved My House From Burning Down *due to an unknown arcing electrical outlet in the front room. So, the media room, in the rear of the house, had suddenly and completely lost power, in the morning. That room is the Wi-Fi, U-verse room with computers, TV ....the whole works. The rest of the house retained electricity but no internet ..no fire tv. Marvin arrived first, so any other techs from other electrician providers were cancelled within a reasonable time. Marvin then began methodically sleuthing this somewhat large, historic, home and found the culprit in the extreme other side of the house, *only after having first visiting the basement, crawl space, exterior panel and the panel on the 2nd floor landing. The errant wall plate and attached firing apparatus was found behind a large couch and as the evidence suggests was obviously minutes from igniting. Once it removed and replaced *including wiring,* it demonstrated such charring it was unsettling. After he replaced the wiring and ruined plate Marvin also shared a quick video in which he had showing the arcing in the darkness. Everything again was up and running. The bill was VERY VERY reasonable .I mean wow What a great adventure and not at all bad on the pocketbook!!!! yay ..Call these guys and ask for Marvin! You are lucky to get him, He knows his stuff!

Being a kid from the 50s and '60s, all I knew were Mom and Pop stores. The candy store was owned by…read morethe Zimmermans, the bakery was owned by Sal and Dom, and the grocery store was owned by the D'Alessio family. Hard to find those anymore unless you head down Bessemer Avenue to McKnight Hardware. That place is Mom and Pop through and through. I have been going to McKnight Hardware since I moved to this neighborhood over 20 years ago and the staff rarely changes. The store is incredibly convenient and although I've never priced compared them with a Walmart or Home Depot, I'm happy to pay the price and support the OG hardware store in the area. Over the years I have seen many young men and women who started as teen helpers become cashiers and managers. The place has a family feel and the staff always knows exactly what they are talking about! It's also my go-to when I need to make some keys! I can always count on McKnight for whatever my needs are. Whether I'm looking for bird seed or glue or paint or a nail, they have it! I recently bought my weed whacker from them and I love how they are right down the street from me if I need it to be serviced, which I recently did. They used to have a pretty extensive garden nursery but it has slowed down over the years. In the early years I was even able to buy some lily pads! Lol But all of your other departments are well stocked and well priced and it's so nice to have a staff person that knows what they are talking about! There is plenty of parking right up front and it's conveniently located on Bessemer Avenue. I encourage you to patronize this place. It breaks my heart to see so many wonderful stores like McKnight Hardware shut down and give way to the big chains. We want to keep places with that Mom and Pop feel and this place deserves to continue to serve this neighborhood for years to come!
