We ordered the usual dim sum dishes. The har gow (shrimp dumpling) and balo bao (pineapple bun) were my favorites here. Their pineapple custard bun has pineapple pieces inside which makes it taste even better. There's a parking lot next door but you gotta pay for it unless you park further down the street. It was very packed inside, mostly cuz it's the weekend and everyone wanted dim sum despite the cold, snowy weather. You have to pay for your check in the front, not at the table.

Then carts pushed by other restaurant staff members are wheeled next to you and all around the restaurant to all the tables and customers. On the carts are containers filled with food like Dim Sums and soups and cakes and mango jelly and sticky rice leaf wraps etc. They also have a cart that cooks some sort of meat items too. I tried a couple of different things, mostly seafood items and I loved it all! My least favorite was the mango jelly circle. It was good in an average way but not great. I wish it had tasted more fruity I think. The red bean buns were yummy! This restaurant is pretty big. It is very popular and it's fantastic! I do wish they served items with cheese and noodles though....Other than this I think it's pretty close to excellent!

Service could have been a bit more attentive and friendly but honestly the food was so delicious we'd come back without giving it a second thought. They change the plastic tablecloth after each group leaves and it keeps the place going quickly seating new diners. Food comes out fresh and hot though not all at once which actually works great for dim sum. The fried rice was amazing, I usually add more soy to give it some flavor but this needing no help, truly delicious! Enjoyed the different dishes and desserts we tried.

I have been to Noodle Express on several occasions and loved the food there and prices are…read moreinexpensive, compared to other Chinese restaurants. Every time that I've been there, the place is packed. The interior reminds me of a hole-in-the-wall type of restaurant, much similar to the local shops or known as in Cantonese, "cha chan teng," which you'll find in Hong Kong. When ordering, they provide you with a sheet that has all the food items. All you have to do is put a check mark next to the dishes you want, and flag the waitress/waiter over, and hand it to him/her. I have tried their dim sum, with the selection being limited, but they do offer a bit more on weekends and holidays. The barbecue pork rice was a generous portion and comes with some Chinese greens. The wonton noodle soup is also very good, portion again is generous, and also is served with Chinese greens and scallion. Other items I have also tried include the pan fried beef ho fan, century egg and lean pork congee, and one of the clay pot rices. To sum it all, good food, inexpensive, and large portions that's great for sharing.

+.5 for service…read more Noodle Express, as the name suggests, serves noodles, but also dim sum as well. As other reviews suggest, it's definitely a hole-in-the-wall establishment, and it's reflected by the relatively low prices for this place. My party of 8 tried a wide range of dim sum (some people I was with were having dim sum for the first time), including shrimp dumpling, pork dumpling, beef omasum, sticky rice, curry squid, eggplant, pork noodle rolls, shrimp noodle rolls, and golden dumpling buns. We also had two noodle plates: Singapore Noodle and Beef and Rice Noodle. The noodle rolls were really good, as well as all the dumplings and buns. Everything else was just okay, but for the price I can't really complain. Their curry squids are miniscule in size though, as well as their sticky rice...something to keep in mind if you're considering those two items. Service was excellent. Rushed, but excellent. The employees will attend to only if you wave them down, so don't expect them to just come over. Asian standards here. Nonetheless, Noodle Express does a decent job for dim sum at an excellent price. It won't get the 4-star approval for me as it's a case of "you get what you paid for", but it works for the clientele here.

Wasn't too long though, as I arrived at the tail end of lunch. It's definitely a popular place though likely because it's close to the university; there was a consistent lineup in the hour or so I dined here. If you're dining by yourself and are unfamiliar with dim sum, I suggest the dim sum combo. It gives you the staple dim sum items all for under $11. Since I'm familiar with the dim sum process, I ordered different dim sum items from the dim sum list. I ordered the shui mai, steamed sticky rice, steamed beef ball, steamed beef omasa, steamed squids in curry sauce, and steamed rice roll with beef and cilantro. I actually found everything to taste very good for Winnipeg standards, especially the beef omasa and steamed squids. I sorta wish they didn't use the same beef for the beef balls and steamed beef rice roll, but I guess it was to be expected. Service wasn't the best, but that might've been because of the increased demand as it was the only place in the area open on Labour Day. I would've given this place 3.5 stars if the current rating was 2.5; I think North Garden should be rated a little higher than that.

I spent a couple of hours enjoying Canadian musicians and bands playing live music. I was getting tired by 8 pm. My day had started at 4:30 am. There was a thunderstorm warning. I felt like grabbing takeout and heading back to the apartment for dinner. I looked at my Fantuan app and found Dim Sum Kingdom nearby. When I was a Winnipegger, I didn't do a whole lot of Chinese dim sum at restaurants. It was nice taking a chance on this eatery. The gamble paid off. This eatery is on Pembina Highway, just north of Bairdmore Boulevard. It was an eight-minute drive from the stadium. I placed an order just before I got up from my seat and headed out the stadium gates. While still in the stadium, I got a phone call from the business. The woman said that she was out of baked barbequed pork buns, which I had ordered. She asked if it was okay to substitute them for steamed ones. I was game. I already liked the customer service from this place. Great communication! My order consisted of these items: - Steamed barbequed pork buns - Pan-fried pork dumplings - Steamed beef balls wrapped in bean curd sheets - Siu mai - Har gow - Sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves - Wonton soup There was an option on the app to pick six dim sum items. The wonton soup was extra. I was given an estimated time of twenty minutes for my order to be ready. I took my time. I bought a Bombers t-shirt. I leisurely left the stadium and crossed the street to fetch my rental vehicle. I then hit the speed limit and cruised over to this restaurant. You enter the plaza by hanging a right on Bairdmore if you are going westbound. The plaza isn't the smoothest ride. There is lots of parking. I backed into a spot near the restaurant's street sign. I waited for ten minutes before I got the notification that my food was ready. I walked in. The restaurant is large. I had a woman greet me. I let her know what my Fantuan order number was. She found my order and handed everything to me in a plastic bag. I thanked her and left with my food. I headed back to the apartment. I had ordered enough food for dinner and leftovers for breakfast the following day. I was happy. The dim sum here is authentic. It was delicious. If you are looking for prettiness when you open each container, you won't get it here. It's like they took the har gow in the steamer and plopped them into the container. It was the case for all my items. My least-favourite item was the wonton soup. The wontons were excellent. They were flavourful, had a lot of pork filling, and held up nicely in the soup. The broth was extremely peppery. I felt like this place wanted to get rid of its white pepper for some weird reason and dumped a lot of it in my soup. The steamed barbequed pork buns had so much filling. They were excellent. The buns were fluffy and warm. The har gow and siu mai were scrumptious. They had lots of filling. The wrappers held everything together. They tasted fresh and were juicy. The pan-fried dumplings were massive. They were lightly pan-fried. The filling was generous. They were perfectly made. Yum! I loved the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaves. There was so much pork and other filling goodies inside the sticky rice. Each packet was enjoyable to unpack and enjoy. I used to not enjoy bean curd sheets around beef balls. As of late, I like them. This place gives you so much bean curd sheets around each beef ball that you wonder whether they are the main event. They were fabulous. Each beef ball was perfectly steamed. The bean curd sheets around each one were so good, especially with the sauce that these balls were in. Excellent! It's nice that there's a restaurant that specializes in authentic, yummy dim sum. You can also order main dishes at this restaurant. I may do that next time, but I'd probably head back and order more dim sum items off the menu. Dim Sum Kingdom was a great find. I highly recommend it if you love dim sum done right. (304)

And I'm from near Toronto - I know what good East Asian food is supposed to be like! This place used to be called Dim Sum Garden but was recently renamed Dim Sum Kingdom. To me, this place will always be known as Dim Sum Garden deep down in my heart. I used to live nearby Winnipeg years ago, so during a trip back, I paid a visit to this restaurant as I had come here many times in the past. Although the name has changed, I'm happy to report that the food is exactly the same as I remember it being! There is a large selection of food items to choose from. The service is quite attentive, efficient, and quick. The interior can get pretty noisy at times. Prices are excellent for the amount of food you are served. No breaking the bank here! This really bothers me though, one star is taken off due to the very filthy and sketchy looking washroom. It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. That makes me wonder what the cleanliness of the kitchen looks like. Other than that, I'd recommend this restaurant to anybody in the area or who's visiting.
