Literally zero stars after what I seen today. First note, I've come here off and on for more than 10yrs. Mostly out of convenience, but when I found someone that did the best pedicure it kept me coming back. At this salon, I rarely would get my fingernails done whether it be gel manicure or a set of acrylics because none of the ladies do a good job with overall service for these. Either they don't cut the cuticles and skin properly by cutting you or they don't clean the skin up at all. In addition, the manicure's paint job is never smooth enough and never covers all sides. As far as the pedicure, when I found someone I liked because she cut, shaped and painted well...I always questioned their Sanitization. Despite the fact when they sit down to start the pedicure they open a sterilization package, in reality, had they truly used the real dry sanitization oven or "autoclave" these packages would be air tight from the process. And the packages here are not even close to air right. So I always wondered if they simply placed the manicure items in there to look sanitized. WELL, today my suspicions were proven to be true. I seen a manicurist finish with my pedicure, walk to the sink that customers use, rinse the tools, walk to their staff room (which she didn't close the door and I watched her), pat dry the tools and place them into a sterilization packet and walk with those tools to the next customer. I CANCELLED MY GEL MANICURE. I can't imagine the last time those tools were actually clean other than when they were purchased. I was disgusted. I paid and left. I will never return here again for dirty tools to be used on me ever again. I sincerely feel bad for any customer who hasn't seen this and continue to give their salon business. Southland nails should be forced to "clean up" their act by health/safety standards. I worry that someone could contract a dangerous bacteria or fungus on their nails due to these unsanitary conditions. The owner and manager were here during this particular shift and I do not doubt that they have instructed their workers to follow this process. Either they do this to cut down on time or cut costs. But this is unacceptable! Please do not go here if you want to avoid unsafe health conditions. read more

I've been going to Southland Nails since I was really young, and I've definitely seen the decline with the quality of nails and service. I needed a quick mani/pedi this morning so I went in knowing to not expect anything grand. However, today is the last day I'll be coming here. The pedicure was alright, but the manicure was just terrible. Everything was super rushed. I did go in with super short nails but I was expecting for the polish to at least be put on as though a professional did them, despite the shortness. I don't come here as often as I would like. I believe they close at 7pm on weeknights- a little too early for me. If I have time during the weekend I'll make my way here when they open. It's conveniently located near a Starbucks. What could be better then sitting there getting a pedi while sippin' on Starbucks?! Anyways, I like this place cause I rarely have to wait to be helped. Great OPI color selection and if I'm lucky I get a mani/pedi at the same time. The bonus is my nail polish stays on longer then other nail salons. If I'm really careful, my mani can last me 2 weeks from this place before I even see a crack or chip in the polish. read more

Don't go there... The place is super dirty and so were the towels they used, it had gross dark spots and old nail polish on them (keep in mind that we are in the middle of a pandemic). My pedicure took 17 minutes and cost me $40 (!!!!). I'm never going in there again! read more

I've tried this salon since it's near our house. At first it was all good, but every time I went here, I found myself unsatisfied with my nails. The cuticles around were still visible and nail painting wasn't neatly done. Uneven and sloppy. They kind of rush their work. There was one time that the employee there kind off raised her voice at me when I told her I preferred narrow shaped nails while she was sanding my nails. She told me it wouldn't be nice for my nails but hey, my nail, my preference. Carol saved the day though. She knows costumer service. I'd probably be going back if I'd had no choice and be looking for Carol. read more

Southland is very convenient to get to however they are the worst at giving simple gel painted manicures. She rushed through my manicure spoke in Vietnamese the whole time and didn't even ask me what shape I would like my nails. Each time she put a coat of nail polish on she did not let me dry them under the UV light for more than 1 cycle which is different than all the other places I have gone. I told her I just put it in and she got rude and told me once she puts the top coat on I can put it in as many times as I want but right now I need to take it out. How lucky am I to live only a few blocks away from Southland Nails! Even when I lived in the city for a few months I kept coming back. All the ladies are friendly and it is very efficiently run by one young lady who is not only in charge, but THE BEST nail person there. I come back every two weeks, but know that if the proprietor is not there the others ladies can do a really good job, too! I've had painted designs, glitter nails, chrome and the new magnet nail polish (which is very cool)! The prices are competitive and the work is timely. Parking is very good and free! I like to go next door to Starbucks before coming if I don't have my protein shake. They take pride in their work and never laugh at my old lady feet. It's nice feeling pretty every time I leave. Got my nails done here today for the first time and I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I ended up leaving unsatisfied.. Called them after work and asked if they were taking walk-ins, the lady over the phone told me there wasn't a wait, but I still expected a wait regardless. I asked for a gel mani, picked out a color and one lady said it change it bcuz its ugly... sure ok. So I go ahead and choose my back-up color. They have me sit in a chair, I wait for another 10-15 minutes, not bad. Finally someone starts to work on my nails, I always ask for square shape with the edges rounded. At first she starts off okay, she cleaned my nails and filed them but never made sure they were even and only filed them once... as i was sitting there the shaped looked good to me.. As more customers walked in she started rushing my nails and at the end i eneded up with un-even shaped nails. My index finger was round and not even square! And on top of that she told me "your nails are very difficult to work with" and she said i had to work fast bcuz the nail polish wont dry evenly on all your nails.. thats some BS. Ive been getting my nails done since high school and no one has ever made that comment to me about my nails. Paid $30 plus tip for a rushed gel-manicure and bad service. read more

I went here desperate for a mani-pedi, and the location was close and convenient. I took my chances on a Saturday afternoon and they were able to provide me a seat right away. The lady who did my pedicure (she is also pictured in one of the photos) was not very welcoming and the pedicure was not relaxing. She would move my feet in a way that was convenient for her and not comfortable for me. When I get a treatment done such as nails I expect to relax. During my pedicure I did not feel relaxed at all. The hand and foot massage maybe lasted a minute. It may have been the manicurist and pedicurist I had because the place was packed with customers and they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Maybe it depends on who you have? I also had a french manicure and it was SLOPPY. From far away it looks like a decent manicure but the white tip was still wet on some nails so when my technician went to put the top coat on it caused the white to run on the pink part of the french manicure. read more

I am quite annoyed with businesses who do not adhere to appointment times and waits. But lucky for them, I got a great nail tech. She was very through and meticulous to the detail if cleaning filing and coloring, hence the extra star. I am not sure I would come but I did like my pedicure. read more

Decent, clean, and cheap. My friend wanted to get fills for her nails so I tagged along because I hadn't gotten my nails done in probably 2 years. It's August, we are in shorts, t shirt, and flip flops. She warns me to take a jacket, but did I listen? No. It's August, who cares? Apparently Pacifica does. Pacifica is just a mysterious place that's always super foggy and around 50 degrees. weird. The salon is in the corner of a small and old plaza. Southland Nails? I didn't expect too much from just seeing the name. The salon itself isn't as run down as the location it is in. It's pretty spacious, very clean, and well staffed with the typical Vietnamese guru that gives each other pedicures on their free time. We walk in, we get sat quickly (we had appointments), and got straight to work. I asked for just french tips, but she made me go get color for that... so I decided to get black tips just to try something new, which worked out well anyways. The work was fast, precise, and nice. The lady was nice and pleasant to talk to. ...Just kind of made me feel awkward when she made me pay before she finished my nails. Was she in a rush to push me out? I don't know. But $25 for french tip, gel nails, and then tip? That's WAAAAY cheap compared to everything I've gotten before. And the quality of the nails done were good. So, I think this is a god place to go back to. I think the fills for these are $15? wow. Very nice. I'm definitely thinking about going back for fills (good quality and VERY cheap), but I miss having normal nails to play guitar or txt on my cellphone without pressing 3 keys at time. read more

Came here last Sunday because my gelilsh nails were in bad shape. I started peeling them and needed to get them done before I did more damage. I pass this place every day on my way home, and something in me kept telling me to keep on passing. Should have listened to my inner voice. First, I came here and asked if they had time to do my nails, they said yes. So they sat me there and soaked my hands until I lost sensation in my fingers! In addition to that, the lady kept using her own nails (not the metal scraper) to scrape off my nail polish. She kept going back and forth with another customer and me! Then when I asked how long it would take before they could start on my nails (already light-headed with the fumes - they are not well-ventillated, nor do they use cotton balls and foil wrap), she said right now and assigned another person to do my nails. The nails were done ok, but I had to tell them a couple of time to reshape my nails because they were hastily done and crooked. I asked the woman if they could do designs with gelish polish. She said yes, but she did it sloppily with regular polish and smeared on some designs. Then she just put a top regular coat of clear to seal it. Needless to say, I resumed weekend work of laundry and dishes, and motherly chores, and the top coat has already shown signs of peeling. The gel is still intact, but i am sure the designs will not last that long. For $45 + tip, I will NOT be coming back here when I can go to a cheaper place for the same crappy service. If I am going to pay over $50 with tip...it better be worthed! I also heard other patrons who had to complain or correct the woman doing their nails, so I don't think it was just the lady I got. I always go here for pedicures because they really get the job done. From getting your cuticles to scrubbing your feet soft. Lastly, the feet and leg massage at the end. The only cons is it's not updated or 100% clean but for the most part, they are sanitary. They scrub the tubs literally right after their done with a customer. They also use new tools for every customer. This review is really for the lady that did my daughters nails/pedi. My 6 year old fell asleep and I saw the nail tech sit on the floor to get the job done. I understand my daughter was only a $5 job but that was a lot of effort and kindness while their were ladies waiting for their turn. Thank you. read more

This review is only about the pricing and appointment wait times. Watch out because Cindys prices are never the same. I get my nails done here every month and I always pay 35 to 40 depending but last week when I went to pay she told me 50! And no I didn't do anything different. Also it does not matter if you have an appointment or not you will end up waiting and the sucky part is that if you are the one that is only five minutes late they will make you wait even longer. read more

My only negative feedback about them is one time I only had a few dollars in cash for a tip so I asked if I could put it on my card and they asked me to go get cash back at the dollar store down the street. I had no desire to walk down the street or to buy anything at the dollar store but I did anyways just so they could have a cash tip. This was my go-to place for 6+ years. My aunt first introduced me to them when they only had 2 pedicure chairs and was less then half the size of what they are now. Southland is really a hit or miss. Some of the techs are great and very good at what they do and some just rush and get on to the next person. Their customer service is definitely lacking and most of them do not speak English. Cindy & Carol (the owners) are very nice and try to be attentive to needs but they are so busy that it gets away from them easily. I return when I'm home just because I'm used to going here but it's definitely not the best in town. read more

Went in to get a pedicure after work about forty minutes before closing. Asked if they had time for a pedicure. They said yes. Ok, cool. Lady that took care of me was really sweet and she gave a pretty decent pedicure. Nothing extravagant - just a straight forward pedicure. I asked her at the end, "Can I leave tip on the card?" (I left her a pretty good tip.) And she then asked if I had sandals. I said no... assuming they provide paper sandals for the average working person that decides to spontaneously drop in for a pedicure after work - like any other pedicure place. She said they cost a dollar. Ok. Sure, no problem. Except she had already ran my card and they weren't going to swipe again for a dollar. At this point it's obvious I have no cash. I told her again I have no cash and I'm wearing boots. She asked the owner if I could have sandals and she said, "No. But you can sit and air dry." LOL. OK!! I happened to have nothing better to do that night. So, I sat there on the phone with my friend for over thirty minutes after closing...writing this review ... cause honestly I'm THAT level of petty. Everyone left, even the lady that did my pedicure - who was really sweet. I even asked again fifteen minutes in, "So I just paid for a pedicure and was not asked if I needed sandals, which I would've paid for. I'd leave if I had sandals." She said, "It's ok, you can stay and keep drying your feet." So, I did. Stayed until she practically shut all the lights. There were two options here: walk barefoot to my car or put on boots and damage my pedicure. Wtf kind of customer service is that? Luckily, I'm a pata sucia from Miami and IDGAF walking barefoot on basically any dirty surface. I could've walked out barefoot the moment my pedicure was done, but you know what? I felt like chilling and making my homegirl Cindy wait with me since her customer service is so wack - judging from all the reviews. Plus, it's cleanliness is average at best. Go somewhere else. I would rate 0 if I could !! I have been coming to this salon for 20+ years . When you are lucky enough to find a great place , money isn't issue. Carol is the owner and started this place years ago . Over time she had another shop in Westborough Square that her husband run . Carol always did a great job but when she allowed her cousin Cindy to run the place . Over the years the quality has slipped , the employees are rude and they act like you should be happy to wait 20-45 minutes after your scheduled appointment. The only reason I have keep coming back is my nails were done my way and they looked good. Over the years I have ignored Cindy's rude comments and behavior since I didn't take it personally. Maybe she was having. Bad day etc.. however when I started taking my daughter to her her nails done , I refused to put up with her workers bad behavior and dirty looks , for no reason . I have always tipped 5-10 bucks on fill /pedicure . My daughter got tired of the attitude and the shitty results when they couldn't do a coffin shape nail .. On my last visit . Cindy was painting my nails and my hands were clearly still in the machines . Somehow one nail smudged and she yelled at me because she said I messed it up . First of all I'm not a child . Second of all I'm sitting still .. I was so angry I almost walked out .. I bit my lip Ns decided to just take it up with the owner . The last straw.. I called Monday morning @ 10 am for an appt for Tuesday at 430 pm . She told me Carol would not be there Tuesday but To come in a Wednesday at 430pm . I showed up Wednesday at 415 and she comes and says . Carol is not coming today , Sorry and walks away . When I asked why didn't you call me she just said sorry and proceeded to finish her appointment .. Long story short, the quality had declined, their customer service is awful. The fact that they think it's okay to treat their customers like crap , is unacceptable .. I will no longer financially support this business or the W Nail Salon in Westborough !! Time is up ladies !! Behavior such as yours is not longer tolerated in the world we live !! I hope this review and all the other crap reviews you have hurt your pocketbook !! Bye Cindy !!! I had an appointment got a gel full set and pedi. As soon as I walked in I was asked to sit for my nails, if I wanted to get my pedi at the same time (I said yes), and to take my shoes off. After about 30-45 minutes of getting a full set (that she said was $40 when the wall next to me literally said $35 - no I didn't get anything extra or unique shapes), I asked if someone was going to start my pedi. They said "OH you want a pedi too?", even though I literally had no shoes on since I got in. The lady doing my nails was booted half way to help someone else and the person that finished was SO ROUGH that she literally made me BLEED. Photo included. I used to come here a lot, it's very near my place and was great just popping in for a mani/pedi. Well, no more, the last manicure I got here was terrible, as in 'absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever'. My cuticles are all raggedy and the polish she used was well passed it's prime (you can tell by the wrinkles and bubbles in the polish). Of course, like a fool, I submitted to the "you pay now" demand before the polish was applied so not only did I pay for this train wreck, I tipped for it! It only served to piss me off more when I asked her to re-do one of the nails that was especially bad and got MAJOR attitude in return. She actually tried to simply apply another coat of clear polish to the nail, as if that was going to do anything. Finally I got sick of arguing with them and just left. The place is just alright. At the suggestion of her future mother-in-law, my cousin, the bride-to-be, dragged her bridesmaids here the day before her wedding. Spending some girl time together, I just really needed to get my nails did. Overall, the place seems pretty clean. The foot soaking chairs looked pretty beat up, but they weren't gross or nothing. Though, they could be replaced. Service was just serviceable. Not very chatty, but that could just be because we weren't regulars, nor from the area. For the price, it was pretty danged cheap. I probably spent twice as much for almost the same service in San Diego. Would I go here again, if I were in the area? Not likely. But, if you're in need of a cheap and quick mani/ped, and aren't too picky, it works. read more

Hello to my first negative review. . . I've been here quite a few times, just because it's close to home. I've gotten over the fact that there's usually a wait on weekends, and that the quality is not that great for their price. When I need a mani/pedi and don't want to travel far, I usually end up going here. But after my last experience, I don't think I'm going back anymore. First, they didn't have the color that I wanted, but I got over that too. I've experienced some rude service here before, but this one was just bad. She kept hurting my hands and so I kept flinching, and she kept saying "relax" and sighing as if I was the annoying one! WTF?!!! Maybe if you'd quit killing my fingers, I'd relax a bit more! Even when she was just holding my hand, it would hurt, because she would dig her long nails into my fingerbeds! Then, when she finally painted my nails, the polish was so clumpy, and also, the cuticles were showing under the polish! I suck at doing my own nails, but I definitely would've gotten better results if I did it myself this one time! And the icing on the cake: when she was about to do the design, she used silver and white, when I CLEARLY stated at least three times that I wanted silver and black. I realized that she was just saying that because someone else was using the black detail polish when she got the other nail lady to tell me that black wouldn't show. REALLY? Since when does black have a hard time showing on top of a light nail polish color??? And will white really show better on a light color than black does? Come on, do I really look like I was born yesterday? After I insisted that I wanted black and not white, she finally grudgingly walked up to the other side to borrow the black polish from someone. It took only 30 seconds to do the simple design of 3 lines that I asked for (which she managed to mess up too!). How hard was it to do that, instead of wasting your time trying to convince me that black is not dark enough to show on a light green, but white is? Moral of the story: Don't try to lie to your customers because you're too lazy to get up and get the dang nail polish! read more

I watched them clean the tools in between clients and it was a simple movement with a sterile brush and a few blows to dry it off then put into a sterile bag. I wish I noticed this before they started. Then I felt completely rushed and don't feel I got a pedicure felt like I paid $22 to paint my toes. My friend was next to me getting a pedicure she started 10 minutes before me and I was done before her. So unhappy definitely getting another pedicure this week which is very irritating. read more

Southland and I have had a love/hate relationship. The place is a bit run down evident by the worn out seats. The wax room isn't the cleanest and the workers aren't the sweetest. But they always put time in to help dig out my ingrown toenail (tmi, sorry). But really, I have it painfully bad at times and I can always rely on any of the workers to put extra love into it. Prettier spas and salons just don't put in the effort that Southland does. So my loyalty will be with Southland. read more

1. No signage indicating tip in cash only. Told me I could go to grocery store ATM. Well since I didn't expect to have more than 1 person to work on my hands and feet I only had so much cash. They were rude. 2. Spilled nail polish remover and cuticle softener on my pants and when I said something the response was "oh sorry" 3. Put wrong color on my nails because she picked up the wrong bottle on her desk. When I said something she told me that was the one I gave her... No actually the one I gave her was the color on my toes. 4. Dryers are old and the lights never cone on. They alternate 2 desk fans for your feet. Just not someplace I want to go back to. Overpriced for the service! I went in and it was not busy. The lady who was doing my nails was RUDE! It was rushed and the job she did was SLOPPY! At one point , i was bleeding and she wiped the blood with her bare finger. Eww! I told her to never do that. My nails were uneven and it looked like hell.
