Several weeks ago I was looking everywhere for a replacement glass patio door deadbolt that had broken in my home. I tried hardware stores, Home Depot, Lowe's, other random door/glass stores. All to no avail. Then I went to Southgate Glass & Screen in Carmichael, with broken part in hand, and asked if they had any there. They didn't. But unlike all the other places I'd been to, Rafael Hernandez - Segura took the time to do research on my part. He emailed the exact information I needed to order it online, from a different business mind you, and said I could call him anytime if I needed any more help. Last week Southgate replaced all the windows (Milgard) in my 23yr old house. Already, I can tell how much warmer the house is and less drafty. From the beginning, start to finish, they were very professional and efficient. Just replaced a whole house full of glass, much of it oversized. Southgate gave us a very competitive price and sent two outstanding installers, Rick and Steven. They were efficient, courteous, extremely clean, and helpful with advice for future care. I think ours was a pretty large job as many of the walls are floor-to-ceiling glass. The glass (a combo of Low E 2 and Low E 3) appears to be outstanding, with very little heat radiating through the glass (before it was hot as an oven). I had all the windows in my 1985 house replaced. Very professional and polite installers! They explained the entire process for the week; they cleaned up after each day; they informed me of what they accomplished each day and what time they'd return the next and what they'd do. They always asked if I had questions. The quality of the work was very high inside and outside! Finish detail was thorough. The Milgard windows themselves are terrific! Besides the insulation from outside temps that I could feel immediately, I did not expect sound improvements; I can barely hear when a car drives by now. He took the time to write me up two quotes, and educated me on their products. What really sold me on this company was over hearing a phone conversation while I was waiting to be helped. I went to the other location and had them cut a piece of glass for my Harley Davidson, long story short I was disappointed, it not only didn't fit but wasn't even the right shape, I called the walnut ave location and told them that I was unhappy with the product I had purchased and the reasons why, they asked me to bring it to them and they would see what they could do. They not only made it right but went beyond by cutting 2 pieces just in case and they where extremely professional and made sure that I left happy, they turned a one star review into a 5 star review. Absolutely ridiculous. Cody is no help. Went in to buy 4 window balancers (internal tensioners for sash type windows). Carmichael location did not have them, however South Sac did. Chose not to drive to South Sac as Cody assured me he would have them in Carmichael by noon the next day. The next day (Friday), received call from Cody saying while South Sac had them they could not get them to Carmichael until "next week, Monday". When I expressed my displeasure with the fact that I could have just driven to South Sac yesterday, yet chose to believe Codys assurances, I was "disconnected" (ie....hung up on). When I called back, was offered to have a technician pick them up however they wouldn't be in Carmichael until "around 5pm" (they close at 5). So basically the only remedy offered was to (perhaps) have the parts by 5pm Friday evening, thus ensuring broken windows for at least another day, and/or doing window repair into Friday night. As I mentioned to Cody, HORRIBLE WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS!!! In this situation, my customers (and I) would expect that someone from Carmichael would get in their car, and drive the extra 10 miles to South Sac and pick the parts up themselves in order to meet their commitments. As it is, I am the one driving the extra 10 miles to pick the parts up myself (something I apparently should have done yesterday). Southgate Glass, you have lost all of my future business due to your inability to go the extra 10 miles so to speak. ****UPDATE**** Changing my review to "Yay! I'm a fan." and chalking the whole experience up to a miscommunication. After driving to the South Sac location to get the balancers myself, discovered on the way back home they were the wrong ones. Stopped at the Carmichael location to voice my displeasure direct and in person. Steve Christian, the manager, absolutely bent over backwards and won my business back. Not only did he discount the original purchase price, he had the correct ones picked up in South Sac and personally delivered them to my home within the hour. Then on top of it all offered to and installed them in the windows himself. OUTSTANDING!!! Definitely "went the extra miles" and will continue to have my business and recommendations. read more

We had three large windows we wanted to replace with sliding glass doors to walk directly out to the covered patio. We got several quotes for different styles and we finally landed with Southgate on the sliding glass doors. We are very happy with the install. There was a small time when I couldn't get a call back on the work, but other than that, they did a great job. They also were able to help us with a window replacement as well as window bead. We painted the house after the slider was installed and Southgate was able to come through and get the window bead I needed for all our windows. The old window bead was cracking and breaking. The Carmichael store of Southgate Glass installed 11 Milgard windows and 2 patio door for us. The office staff was very helpful and patient with us as we asked a ton of questions. When we finally decided on what style we wanted we were put on the schedule. We were told that it would be a 4 day job. Our installers were Ron and Rene. Ron is a veteran installer so he had no trouble with our 29 year old windows. Both Ron and Rene were very hard and efficient workers. Every window and door was done perfectly. The install, trim, and the caulking were done expertly. At the end of the 1st day Ron told us that the office wanted him to go to another job on the 4th day (Friday). Ron and Rene worked a long day on Wednesday and an even longer day on Thursday to finish the job for us. The windows and doors are beautiful. A really great experience. We have an older house and our front door is not standard size so what I had in mind I couldn't get. However, our project manager Jim spent a lot of time with me showing me lots of other options until I found something I liked even better. We highly recommend Southgate Glass after having worked with them the last seven months. Southgate Glass replaced all 24 windows in our house and we subsequently used Southgate Glass again for new shutters for the windows. The end result is a dramatic and beautiful change to our home, both inside and outside. We first became aware of Southgate Glass after they replaced some of the windows in our neighbor's home. We were impressed with the workers and our neighbors were very happy with the job. We needed to replace the glass in many of our windows due to a defect and we were not happy with the heat and cold transmission of the windows. Our sales representative, Larry Greene, was excellent. He came out to our home numerous times to help us select the right windows. Many of our windows are very large and we were concerned with how the new windows would look from the outside. We wanted our windows to look like they were part of the original house and not look like a retro-fit. It was a difficult decision for us, but Larry was extremely patient with us and never made us feel like we were a burden to his time. We had a number of issues to consider in changing out the windows such as: would our existing blinds fit the new windows, our alarm system and the color of the windows. We had an especially difficult time choosing the color of the windows and Larry gave us all the time that we needed to make our final decision. We selected the Milgard Tuscany series in white. We went with double hung windows and sliders upstairs in order to be able to clean the windows from the inside. We couldn't be happier with the windows. Not only are the windows beautiful both inside and outside, but you do not feel any heat come through during the hot summer days nor do you feel any cold come through during the freezing winter nights. The installation of the windows went smoothly. After the job was complete, one window needed an adjustment and another window had a slight defect. Southgate Glass immediately sent a Milgard representative to our home. He adjusted the one window and ordered a new frame for the other window. Although our old blinds fit the new windows, we really wanted to finish the new windows with shutters. We contacted Renee Broadway for help with this. Renee was also extremely patient with us while we looked at the various products available and debated the size of the slats and the color. We selected 4 1/2 inch Skandia shutters with a hidden rod. We ordered one window initially as a test to make sure that we were happy with the result. It went well, so we decided to order shutters for the rest of the house. An error was made on the frame for the kitchen window. As soon as we contacted Renee about the error, a new frame was ordered and installed within a week. The two master bathroom frames also did not fit. Again, as soon as we notified Renee of the problem, she ordered two new shutters and she personally delivered them when they came in. All of the shutters look stunning in our home and really give our home a "model" look. The customer service at Southgate Glass is superb. Both Larry Greene and Renee Broadway are extremely professional and personable to deal with. The prices were reasonable for quality products. We could not be happier with our new windows and shutters. read more

We have a Milgard slider that could not be removed from the track to replace the rollers. We found Southgate from an internet search. Brian O. arrived today and was wonderful! He could not remove the slider either but was able to provide above and beyond service; the rollers were replaced and a new track was installed. Brian was professional, very helpful, and cleaned up the mess. The service call and a couple of parts were worth every penny compared to installing a new $700+ slider. read more
