My son took two screens in to be replaced. He had requested tabs on one of them and had to remind them when the screen was presented without tabs. They eventually put crappy tabs on (not the kind that you can put your finger through while installing the screen). The screen was wrapped in plastic so tightly that it was bent and they shrugged it off when he mentioned it. The other screen was not even the right size, with one end slightly wider than the other. I had to use a mallet to force it into the window. I am going to get all my screens replaced but definitely not with these people. read more

Would not use this store. They used to be good but must be under different management. Absolutely no communication at this store. Dropped a shower door off on Feb 18th. Called four times and talk to Kaela and ask for a tech to call us. Not response or return call. Said it would be done in one week. Today is March 12,2025 Finally yesterday they call and say the shower door is done. Went to pick it up and the door was done wrong. A rubber stop in the door was drilled in the wrong place. We never received a call back after 4 separate calls and they had the shower for almost a month. Will not return to this store. Management needs a wake up. Customer service is lacking read more

Made the appointment for a patio door "repair" and they gave me a 4 hour window, 8-noon. Did not hear anything from them so I called to ask status around 10:30. They said the technician would call me before noon. No such call. I gave up after hearing nothing from them at noon. Surprisingly Technician arrived around 12:30, and said he is here to repair a "screen". I let him in, expressed my frustration on this appointment, he didn't say much. He said he would have to call another person for this patio door "repair". A few hours later rep called and said it would cost around $500. for repair. I said no way, with this kind of customer service at the very start, I would never go forward working with them. Complete waste of my entire morning. I ended up going across town with the other patio door company which has excellent customer service, got the job done. Waiting for a replacement appointment for two months. I've called every week. Not even a call back.

I ordered a 1/2" X 42" round glass tabletop from Southgate at 10:53 am on 2/24/25. At time of placing this order I was requested to supply a credit card to secure the purchase in the amount of $700. At no time was I informed that my card would be charged in advance of product delivery, nor was I informed that the requested item was a "special order". I was simply provided a work order and advised that my item would be ready for pickup within 5 to 7 business days. I discovered later that same day that I could purchase the exact same item online from a vendor based in Ohio, and that they could deliver that item to my residence in California within five days at a total cost of $275. I quickly placed an order with this Ohio company and received the item as promised. Consequently, I called Southgate at 8:00 on 2/25/25 (less than six business hours after placing initial order) in an attempt to cancel my order. I was informed that my item was a special purchase, and that it could not be cancelled or refunded. Moreover, I was informed that the order had already been placed with a "sister" business affiliate, and that it had already been shipped. My request to cancel my order was denied by Southgate, whom I soon discovered had already charged the purchase to my credit card. I have attempted to stop payment on this charge through my credit card company, but without satisfaction. I have received no further contact from Southgate regarding this purchase, other than my initial phone contact on 2/25/25. Neither have they informed me that my merchandise was available for pickup. Consequently, I have been charged by Southgate for an item which has never been delivered, nor attempted to be delivered. I find this transaction to have been akin to fraudulent business practice and have no recourse than to register a report of this unhappy experience. Buyer beware when dealing with Southgate. Rebuttal: The reply from Southgate re. this post is laden within inaccuracies. No. 1: Order was not placed by my wife, rather by myself, and charged to my credit card. No. 2: I was informed orally by the clerk, Kaela, at the time of placing the order that it would not be available for delivery for 5 to 7 business days. This hardly suggests that it could be fulfilled (therefor irreversible) within six business hours. Yet Southgate suggests that the order was transmitted to the fabricator (some unspecified "sister affiliate"), and that the piece had already been fabricated and shipped before I called the following morning. Hardly seems likely. No. 3: As for the alleged follow-up phone call placed by Kaela on 2/26/25, no such call was received by our answering service nor have I received any form of communication from Southgate since my phone call on the morning of 2/25/25. Even had we received the phone call, I had already informed Southgate that I wished my order cancelled and would not be receiving their product. No. 4: As for competitive pricing, Southgate has charged me 250% (including shipping/handling/taxes) more than the identical piece purchased from an Ohio vendor and delivered directly to my home on 2/28/25. This excessive charge hardly justifies "local fabrication". I do not consider Southgate's pricing for this item either competitive, fair or reasonable. No. 5: At no time during the placing of this order or in the supplied "work order" was I informed that I would be immediately charged for the item, or that it was a "special order" thus classifying it as non-returnable, non-cancellable, or non-refundable. Given the grossly unfair and predatory business practices of Southgate, I stand by my original rating and certainly will never conduct nor recommend business with them in the future. read more

I recently had 3 windows replaced in my house (retrofit, Milgard series). The installation team was quick, efficient, and professional. The windows are beautiful, slide like silk, and cut the outside noise dramatically. Cost savings on energy efficiency remain to be seen, but I am anticipating a positive outcome! Job Well Done!! We went with Anderson products and my wife couldn't be happier.We only did some of our house to break Up the cost. I just called Brian our estimator to schedule the rest of our house for in the spring time. Antonio and Tony Who did the installation of our doors and windows were very polite and courteous and did a great and professional job. I would highly recommend this company if you were replacing windows or doors on your home. At least be sure to get a quote from them. Here's a few pics. We hired SGG for replacement windows & patio door and a new shower semi-framed enclosure. The process of getting all of this done, despite significant frustration about communication issues, was challenging. We had several contractors bid on our two projects. Overall, with the end product, we are happy. Pros: Mark Turpin worked up the bid on the windows. He was slow compared to competitors, but his work product was seriously superior to competitors' bids. His bid gave very detailed specifications about each window or door, not just product name and size, including details such as tempered glass or not, direction of opening, and energy savings specifications (helpful for documentation for rebates.). Competitors gave just number of windows and manufacturer and bottom line cost. Mark worked up bids for us with two window lines, and we decided on Milgard Tuscany. Mark's explicit and detailed specifications for each window was a big reason we chose SGG over competitors. Mark and his manager also negotiated some contact terms at our request. We had some special problem (old) windows regarding privacy and/or operation. Competitors ignored our queries on how to solve these. Mark gave detailed explanations of options and diagrams to address them. Delivery happened almost 2 months earlier than estimated at time of order. Delays due to COVID and supply chain issues either improved or were not as bad as thought. We were happy to get on the installation schedule. The crew managed installation as expected despite rainy weather two of the three day installation process. They used tarps and careful planning for that. Crew was Jason (lead) & Alfredo (assistant) for two days, and Dominic instead of Jason the last day. Communication about preparing for and expectations about installation (including getting building permit and scheduling building inspection sign off) and documentation for rebates for energy saving was handled by Frances. She was super accessible and helpful, including how, why and alternatives to change of schedule or lead installer on the last day. Installers were careful about protecting the wiring for our alarm system. The alarm company who reconnected alarm sensors to the new windows and door said the window installers did an exceptionally good job in that regard. The SGG showroom in Carmichael is very nice with full size operating window and patio doors on display. Seeing and operating the options at the showroom was very helpful for us to choose Milgard Tuscany over alternatives. We also visited showrooms of competitors (not all had showrooms) and some of them had only miniature models of their offerings or window displays that did not work or were broken. Ivan measured for the shower enclosure bid and did the installation. He was prompt and careful on all of this. Problems: Communication is NOT a strong suit with SGG. Getting someone to call us back if we had a question was a repeated frustration. Mark's bids took much longer than competitors, which caused us to doubt SGG. Only after we saw the extraordinary detail in the work product, did we understand why that would take so much longer. Had Mark or other SGG representative explained this in advance, we would have been less frustrated and concerned. Communication about getting a bid on shower enclosure was very concerning. I called (after we already had windows contract pending delivery) asking for an on-site bid for new shower enclosure. I spoke with "Michael," who asked me to take photos and send it to him. I did so, but 10-14 days later, I got nothing back, including no return phone calls. In frustration, I called (speaking to Gabriela) and I asked for a manager. Gabriela did not transfer me to a manager or identify herself as one, but scheduled Ivan to come to our home to measure for a bid. I told Gabriela that I was unwilling to have Michael do the bid as he was not returning my calls. Ivan was timely and quick and told us to expect the bid by email in a day or two. However it took considerably longer than that. People in the office work up the details of the bid. Multiple phone calls and messages without responses were frustrating. Gabriela said the delay was due to the supplier vendor not getting back to her to give us a price. Returning phone calls about getting the bids and some installation follow up details was a recurrent issue with SGG for us. It improved when I complained to Mario (a manager) about it. read more

I have been on a home improvement kick for several months, and making some changes to my master bath became part of my quest for fresh and new. There was nothing wrong with my shower enclosure other than I have never liked the brass and silver accessories, shower enclosure etc that the builders used in my home. My shower enclosure has always bothered me because the brass fittings etc have looked like something out of the 70's, and I felt like it dated a newly built home. I had been in search of something, I just had no idea what that something would look like for my shower. If you're in search for that something, do what I did... Home and Garden shows, State Fairs, etc. I find that going to a show room is like going to a used car lot. You dont know who you're going to get, or what you will see. Going to one of many shows allows you to look with less hassle, plus many companies have their better sales and service people work the shows, so you will get more accurate information. After many shows, it happened. I found this amazing glass. I knew that I didnt want clear glass for the shower, and this find put me on the road for getting my bathroom done. The best way to describe the glass is a unique swirl that is elegant, not overwhelming, and made me happy just looking at it. As I walked through the rest of the home and garden show, I found another glass vendor. This is when my idea finally was completely formulated in my mind. This vendor had interesting glass designs, but what really caught me eye, was this " chipped" look on the glass. I asked if they had the glass that I was interested in, and if I could add chipping to it. They were happy to set an appointment for a sales person to come to my home, but what I was asking for was impossible. I walked away with my ideas crushed, trying to reformulate the idea of my shower in my head. Thank goodness for friends. I happened to mention my dilemma to a friend, and he suggested that I reach out to Southgate Glass. I went to one of their stores on a saturday morning, and looked around. I didnt see what I wanted on display. I asked the salesman, who said that they would be happy to see if it could be done. I left feeling so much better about what I was looking for. As it turned out, I was in luck!! What I was asking for had never been done (this is so me) but Southgate said that they had one vendor that could make it happen! After a few phone calls about the design that I wanted, and a payment over the phone, my bathroom project was underway! Fast forward- If you are not a patient person, home improvement projects will make you want to pull your hair out. Glass work takes time, In fact it can take months, especially the more unique the design, the more time it will take. Be patient. I promise it will be worth it. The people at Southgate know what they're doing, and like me, they are perfectionists, and wont let something leave their shop without inspecting it first. The chipping that I wanted on my glass is a difficult process, and because its breaking glass, there is a risk of it having to be made a few times. Two was my magic number, and the wait of several months was worth it. My only regret was not replacing the shower tile before the new enclosure was installed. I loved that Southgate arrived on time for the installation, easily removed the old enclosure, and took it away at no additional cost. The installation went smoothly, and the transformation was wonderful. I loved that what has always felt like old, even when it was new, was replaced by " seamless perfection." What really made me a fan of Southgate is that they are a true glass company. If you need a window or a 100 replaced, doors, sliders, etc., Southgate is the place to go! I love that they can take payment over the phone, and are happy to answer questions. Bonus points for being open on a weekend too! I mentioned to a few of the guys that after glass installation, and in my case the shower enclosure, Southgate should provide a complimentary squeegee, with the glass cleaner/product to help protect and clean the glass. Its great advertising for them as well. I found Southgate to be better priced, offer better product selection, and provide great customer service! They should be your go to glass store! read more

I got estimates from Home Depot, Lowe's and other window specialists and they had best pricing, with much greater expertise than the Big Box sores. I brought in older screens for them to measure and make new screens. at a very large order with four or five screen doors and another eight or 10 window. I was told it would be 10 to 14 days and after three weeks I called them. Finally, the next day they were able to get the order back to me. It took a day for me to have the time to put the screens up on the windows, but four of the screens (one that I had brought an exact sample to be measured) were cut 2 inches too short. So I return them on Saturday with a promise that they would be ready for me by Tuesday. When I called on Tuesday, I was told they would not be ready until Thursday. However they were going to give me a small refund on the overall order. Overall, the communication was horrible. The attitude of the front desk was terrible. The fact that I brought in frames to be measured as a template and they messed those four frames up, not stellar. Considering the original order and the additional time to redo the screens, it took a total of a month to get them. That was just not reasonable in my book. read more

Awful experience from the beginning to the end! You won't believe what happened, trust me. Initially, I went in, brought in the original window frame screen which needed to be remade because it was damaged by my employee at our client's house. Mike the manager at South Gate glass in Carmichael took the screen, measured it and said it will take 4 to 8 weeks for the order. After 10 weeks, no one from South Gate Glass called so I had in called in for the status, which I was told to pick up the screen at their Rancho Cordova location. Okay, I understand, they must be busy. I went to Rancho Cordova picked up the screen, took it to the clients home, and screen was the WRONG size! Yes, you heard that right, 10 weeks production, driving to a different location to pick it up, and at the end it's the wrong size! But wait, there is more. I called South Gate Glass sends their employee to pick up the screen that they have failed to properly make. Two weeks later, no update from SGG. I drove to their Carmichael location, asked for Mike their manager, asked him for an update, and what was I suppose to tell my client? His response was "I don't care what you tell your client!" Yes folks! You read it right. And on top of this, they didn't have the new screen. It's obvious, Mike, the manager does not know how to use a tape measurement or order a proper screen unfortunately and it is obvious he is not fit to do this job! To make thing more interesting, I found out that there was a bar code on the original screen, which is an Andersen screen, but if Mike, the manager was properly trained he would have know that. Consumers please be aware! This was an issue with just a simple screen. Imagine when you spend thousands of dollars on windows, doors, or shower doors and the size is wrong when you or your clients are on a schedule or your reputation is at stake?! went to get a special piece of glass replaced and was greeted by a young enthusiastic lady, who took the measurements and told her we needed it asap, she took the measurements again to make sure they were correct and went back and within five minutes she handed us the new glass. her name is Kayla and she is definitely a kepper. went home and installed the glass and the piece of furniture looks like new. I have a coffee table with 3 glass insets. Just at the start of Covid, I tripped and fell through one of them (just scratches, no serious cuts). So for a year, I lived with a board over a section of the table. I drive by Southgate glass every time I go to the grocery store. The bid was reasonable and a date was set for new windows. The installation crew were again on time and four new windows were installed. They were quick and clean, however one window (sliding portion) had slight damage from shipping. A replacement was ordered. We're happy with Southgate. The first time, I was very happy with the company being able to get window manufacture to honor its l "life time" warranty for replacement of several dual pane windows on my previous home. This company came highly recommended to me by a neighbor. We were excited to purchase a custom sliding screen door with doggy door entrance this summer. One of the friendliest servicemen I will ever encounter came out to measure our doors on July 2nd. He was very nice and very knowledgeable about the product I was seeking. I called that same day to provide my credit card to process my order, and was told it would take about two weeks for my custom screens to arrive. Due to the current pandemic, I am sympathetic to all businesses and their proposed timelines; I am aware that COVID is causing unnecessary and unaccounted delays in production and deliveries. That said, I gave the company grace and followed up in four weeks, rather than two. When I called nearly a month later, a customer service representative indicated that while she could see in my file that a credit card was provide, she confirmed that an order had never been placed. (Ugh. Why would I have willingly provided my credit card number for nothing in exchange?) Clearly, I was confused and frustrated, but Andrea was polite and professional and placed the order per my request. This set back cost me an additional two weeks. So come mid-August, I receive a call to set up installation. A date was set and I waited. Three days before my appointment, I receive a call indicating that my appointment would have to cancelled because the manufacturer sent the incorrect screens. I'm then forced to wait an additional two weeks while the mistake is fixed. There were further frustrations experienced regarding setting up a second installation appointment, but I will save you the rant. Late September arrives and my custom screens are finally installed. The serviceman sent to my home was courteous and professional. (Note: I have zero complaints about the gentlemen who have come to my home.) With the exception of Andrea, the rest of the customer service team at the office could use further accountability and courtesy training. I understand mistakes happen, but not once did anyone apologize during my numerous phone calls to the office. In addition, it took my husband to call and finally speak to a manager (I was denied) to discuss how this situation would be made right. In conclusion, I am pleased with screens and I appreciate the courtesy discount offered for the mistakes in between, but I'm still affected by all the unnecessary run arounds. I feel like my time and frustrations weren't valued. read more

DO NOT USE SOUTHGATE GLASS. We recently used Southgate for the replacement of two exterior sliding door assemblies. To facilitate handling, they disassembled the pre-assembled systems at their shop and then couldn't figure out how to re-assemble in the field. The "technicians" were literally kicking and prying the panels trying to make them fit, damaging the window framing in the process. They did not properly flash the window openings, and they applied trim and caulk that blocked the weep holes. Parts of the assemblies are still missing several months later, and now, with the 1st rain storm of the season, the assemblies leak terribly resulting in damage to new hardwood flooring. They messed up carpeting with black sealant,... the list goes on. Southgate could not have done a worse job. Avoid! read more

My wife and I keep hiring Southgate Glass over and over because they do such a nice job. ALL of their employees are kind, courteous and professional. To date, they have changed out our back patio, sliding glass door, installed the frame-less shower surround for our newly remodeled master bath and just last month they replaced all of our windows. We couldn't be happier with the pricing and quality of work. Just for comparison sake, Renewal by Anderson was asking over $70k to replace our windows (and we were assured by the Anderson estimator that this was a good deal). The Southgate estimate was only 30% of the Anderson "good deal". The Milgard windows that Southgate installed were "exactly right" for our home. Not a good experience, I will not be back! Poor customer service at the Carmichael store. Dealt with two representatives who were very insistent that the product they wanted to sell me would work. I asked them if I can borrow a screwdriver to verify the information they gave me and they said they didn't have one! I tried to tell them that I previously purchased the product I needed at the South Sac store but still didn't listen to me. I gave them the benefit of the doubt drove all the way back home to Elk Grove and tried to make it work but it didn't as I had suspected. I should have trusted my instincts and not buy the product.
