I hired HEX General Contractors to complete a major renovation of my house's exterior primarily because of their stellar reputation and expertise in fiber cement products. My house's exterior cladding was made of fiber cement shingles, but the exterior trim was made of wood that had weathered and needed to be replaced. I therefore decided to replace all of the exterior trim with James Hardie fiber cement. In addition, I decided to add fiber cement soffits to close the open eaves and to provide added protection against fire. Finally, I wanted all exterior cladding and trim to be repainted, along with the installation of new gutters and downspouts. HEX's staff was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Paul patiently helped craft a detailed scope of work that clearly described all aspects of the renovation. Eugene, Max and Serge completed the initial demolition to remove the wood trim and then installed the new fiber cement trim, shingles and soffit panels. Their work included an uncommonly high level of attention to detail, particularly in the fabrication of soffits and front-porch caps. Despite several hot days, Eugene, Max and Serge always had a friendly, positive attitude and left the worksite clean each day. I wanted to provide an update to my previous review. The owners of this company personally contacted me and met me to apologize for their employee Rob's actions and noted they were unacceptable. HEX is a family owned business and they asked for a second chance to make things right. I appreciate that two members of their ownership contacted me to apologize and requested to make things right. I did not receive any free services, nor did I ask for any. But HEX did attempt to make things right with service and professionalism. They offered to repair my dry rot at a reasonable price with the highest materials. Sergei, their technician was very professional, personable, and repaired my dry rot. HEX worked on it for two days and I am very satisfied with the finished product. HEX offered to paint my exterior at a very reasonable price, but I already committed to another company. Terrible company. Left our bedroom with gaping holes on the floor for three days in this very cold weather. They were supposed to come back today to finish the job, but got greedy and went somewhere else and left our room unattended with all the ill weather elements. Never called to let us know they weren't going to show up like they had promised. We will never refer these people to anybody. My roommate is a sickly 84 year old, elderly woman who got left out in the cold by this insensitive company. Two thumbs down! read more

We have a crazy tall house that was improperly sided with little to no flashing and just meh. After the wildfire we wanted a more fire resistant material and our house needed siding bad. Hex called me on a cold call offering remodeling services. I was interested in bathroom remodeling so even though I normal don't like solicitors calling I agreed to an appointment with them. They set up to come to my house between 1-1:30PM that day to give me a quote. I rearranged my work day schedule for the day to take some time to go home and meet the rep from Hex. I got a call at 1:25pm ( the end of the agreed window ) stating they would be about another hour possibly more before they would arrive. I got the impression they had booked another visit in Davis on top of my scheduled time. You only get one chance at a first impression and being an hour late and calling someone at the end of the agreed upon window is definitely not a good one. Especially when they proposed the initial visit time. I told them not to bother coming to my home at that point. If this is the way they treat the customer and waste my time, it is not a company I would agree to do a large remodel on my home. First impressions and following through on commitments are a HUGE factor when attempting to gain someone's trust enough to let them do a large project on your home. Hopefully they will read this and improve on that first impression for others going forward. read more

After 3 quotes I went with HEX General and couldn't have had a better experience with a contractor. This was a large siding project which included stripping it down to the studs and adding new sheer wall, Hardy siding & trim. I have had the opportunity to have Hex complete two projects for me and have only good things to report. The first was to complete the enclosing of the soffit on my patio cover, the second was to replace the tub with a shower in my bathroom. If you want your time wasted then go with this company. We scheduled for them last week to meet at a property for a complete bathroom remodel. We called 10 minutes before the time we were supposed to meet and they said they were glad we call r because they needed to reschedule. It ended up working out for us but I still wondered if they were even going to call us to let us know. We rescheduled for the next day. I drive 30 minutes out to meet them there. I ask my assistant to call about 10 minutes after our meeting time and the office guy said he'd call the person who is suppose to meet us and call us back. We don't hear back so I call myself 30 minutes past our meeting time and the guy tells me the same thing. I considered to wait another 30 minutes and call AGAIN before leaving. We still have not heard from this company and it's been an hour now since we were scheduled to meet. No answer and my call gets disconnected after a few rings. I'm done. I left. Driving 30 minutes back to the office now. What a waste of time! Horrible customer service. How can you not even have the decency to give a heads up that you can't make it? read more

Hex absolutely exceeded our expectations of new James Hardie exterior siding and Andlin Window installations. Hardie comes with a 15 year factory paint warranty and Andlin windows have a Double Lifetime warranty. Rob, the estimator showed up exactly on time and gave us a no pressure, fast and fair bid. Working over the holidays and through Covid they were still able to complete the job in a timely manner with all deliveries and change orders scheduled perfectly. Alex was great keeping everything on time and made excellent suggestions that I'm so glad we did. Vic and Eugene completed the hard work and expert details with a large crew of very friendly workers. They always cleaned up at the end of every day and left the job exactly how we wanted it. The price was fair. Of the 3 bids we got they were in the middle. We couldn't be happier with the work Hex did for us. We hired them to reside our 1968 home. Not only did they do excellent, quality work, but daily they cleaned up the job site and took extra consideration to fix up certain outdoor elements that would have kept the out of date feel of the external image of the house. Lexi and Vic were both incredibly kind and helpful in determining color schemes and offering input on various aspects of the job. Having an older home we have had A LOT of projects over the years...Throughout the entire process I felt comfortable with them and knew we were in great hands. Our home had substantial dryrot repair as well and they were extra careful to warn me about removing paintings inside my home. Hex Contractors up graded my bathroom. They found dry rot and told me right away what needed to be done to continue the job. The bathroom turned out very nice and I am very happy with the end result. Vlad did a wonderful job installing the marble floor and bath surround. He and his workers were very careful to clean up every night. Alexy recommended I replace my front exterior door due to the old door starting to show signs of falling apart. When they were through it looked like a whole new house! We needed an honest contractor for possible mold damage after our dishwasher leaked inside the cabinets. We found Hex contractors thru Home advisor and have never regretted it. They were honest, thoroughly explained everything, and pretty much stayed on budget. Their workers were young but very skilled. we ended up with a brand new kitchen that looks like something you would find in a magazine. I would not hesitate to use this company again. I just had my kitchen remodeled by HEX. They did a great job and I have recommended them to all my friends. I got 4 bids and they were one of the lowest. I liked Alexy better than the other contractor. He was professional but caring. I waited until I saved all of the money maybe 6 months and had them do a detailed estimate which wasn't too much higher even with the new tariffs. Alexy offered some upgrades that I agreed on. First let me say that the supervisor Vick was wonderful and every single person who worked on the kitchen was kind, friendly, hardworking, and accommodating. Alexy told me how long it would take and that's exactly how long it took. He and/or Vick met with me to discuss any changes or issues and kept in constant contact with me throughout the process. WONDERFUL TO WORK WITH!! We just used Hex Contractors to replace our windows and they did a fantastic job!! Our experience started with Rob Rocha giving us a very fair estimate for the window replacement, he was easy to work with and a straight shooter. Once the windows arrived we were able to work with Alexey Beliy and his field team, they were very efficient and worked hard replacing 29 windows in a little over 2 days. I think I was most surprised by how clean they kept their work environment. Some of our windows had to be broken in order to actually get the frames out, but the guys working made sure that there was no glass, screws, or debris around. It was a fantastic experience. Most companies treat you as a "number", it was nice to work with a company that actually worked hard to make us happy. I wanted to amend my previous review. This updated review is based on consultation and quote Only. Robbie Rocha came to my home and we discussed what I would like to do in my kitchen and bedrooms. He was pleasant. After he looked and measured, he said he would email a quote to me. I asked that bedroom floors and kitchen be quoted separately. I was expecting an email at least three days after his appointment. I waited a week then I emailed and sent a text asking for the quote. After several more days I was upset thinking apparently he decided not to bother with me. So my one star review was based on my annoyance at spending time covering what I wanted remodeled and then not hear from him. The owner, Don, called me and asked why my poor review. I explained to him that I still did not have a quote. He was polite and said they had been very busy. A day later I received an email from Robbie with a quote, but the two jobs were combined with one amount. I asked for separate a quote for floors , and he sent one. Then I asked if I just needed to subtract amounts to determine kitchen cost. NO Reply. The quotes gave some detail of what they would do which I liked, but no real breakdown of costs. Example: no cost per square foot times the square footage. Again Don called me. I am changing my review to four stars because Don really listened to me. He said it is a family business, and they have completed work that received excellent reviews. I believe him because I read the reviews and looked at before and after pictures. "That's why I scheduled an appointment In the first place!" If we work together I think I would get good service. read more
