I recently had Blyss Construction replace my entire front deck and install new James Hardie concrete and LP siding on my home, and I could not be happier with the results. From start to finish, this was by far the best construction experience I've ever had. The siding crew -- David, Bogdan, Mykola, and Nick -- and the deck crew -- Roman, Vasya, and Alex -- were absolutely exceptional. Their work ethic, professionalism, and attention to detail were unmatched. They showed up on time every single day, and often even early. They never wasted time, never sat around on their phones, and rarely even took more than a 15-minute lunch break. They worked late when needed, and even kept going in the rain when most crews would have packed up for the day. Their clean-up was meticulous -- every evening the site was spotless, including the driveway free of nails, debris, and construction dust. They communicated clearly and always made sure I understood what they were doing. If they had any question about a pipe or wire, they asked first instead of guessing -- something I really appreciated. Their craftsmanship was outstanding. They went above and beyond what was required, including extra caulking and detail work typically left for painters or another trade. The stairs and handrail were installed properly and professionally, with the rail mounted to the stairs (not the house), exactly as it should be. They also handled my solar panels with incredible care -- removed, protected, and reinstalled perfectly, with nothing missing and everything hooked back up correctly. On top of all that, each crew member was polite, respectful, friendly, and genuinely hardworking. They set a standard for professionalism that is rare to find in the construction world. We replaced one major wall of our house with new siding and it turned out beautifully. The main issue was that we were getting leaks from the rain coming through the wall because the wood siding was too old. Now the new wall is done and it is summer and probably will not rain for months so we won't be able to tell if the original problem has been fixed until winter arrives. Hopefully it has been solved! I will provide an update. Yuriy was very nice and knowledgeable and easy to work with. The crew was also very friendly but spoke little to no English at all. When I contacted Blyss Construction, they gave me 3 addresses in Daly City where they replaced siding in JamesHardie fiber cement siding. I visited each home and each showed consistent quality in the finished installations. Project Manager Yuriy even gave me advice to seek out other bids. Yuriy prepared a bid that was fairly priced among the other bids I obtained. I was able to speak to a couple of the homeowners of the homes I visited. Each homeowner reported they wouldn't hesitate in using Blyss again. The lead carpenter Aleks, and Carpenter Roman and all of their crew members worked very efficiently and effectively. The crews cleaned up conscientiously at the end of each day Their attention to detail is true craftsmanship. They are true professionals in siding replacement. I almost forgot to mention the painters, Vitaly and Edward. They volunteered to work on a Sunday!! They weather forecast was above 70 degrees, so asked whether it would be okay for them to work on the project. Of course I appreciated that and let them do the painting on Sunday. We are extremely pleased with the work done by Blyss Construction. They replaced our vinyl siding with James Hardie board, replaced our old wooden deck with Trex planks & railing, built a new staircase for our front entrance, and replaced windows & sliding patio door. Despite having delays from the sourcing vendors due to covid and weather, their team went above and beyond other contractors to get the job done. This was never an issue with Vlad and his team even though they were based out of the Sacramento area and trekked down to the SF East Bay every day! I want to start out by saying that Yuriy and team were great to work with. I never felt any high pressure sales, and I felt comfortable expressing my vision for the project. I found Blyss through Hardie's website where they were rated highly. After scheduling for new windows, and lap siding and cedar shake styles for the gable, the job was on the calendar. I was also replacing the roof and Blyss was able to accommodate my roofing schedule. Since I didn't want the roofers to rip my new siding when installing flashing, Blyss was able to come out earlier and take down the old stucco, and put up new sheathing. Then the roofers installed flashing, and Blyss resumed the job. This resulted in a much cleaner looking install. The crew didn't speak much English but they were very friendly. Google Translate, or a call to Yuriy usually took care of any concerns. They worked hard, and sometimes late into the evening hours. Their leader was skilled in general carpentry as well, as they professionally repaired rotting wood once we uncovered all the old stucco. As we progressed into the project, Yuriy did a site visit and suggested we also upgrade the sofit with hardie-sofit and porch lights. I was happy to have followed his suggestion as I liked how it turned out. The crew helped me do some minor interior framing work as well without charge which was really nice of them. They crew professionally mounted new lights for me on mounting blocks, and didn't shortcuts like mounting it on the siding. This results in better waterproofing. The flashing was very well done. My new windows were mounted and looked great. The glass was very uniform looking, and not wavy like some other homes I've seen. They painted minor things such as pipes, and flashing so that it'd match the colors. They include new vents, built new crawlspace doors, and touched up areas which made everything look great. Some of my windows were different sizes from the original, and the crew skillfully reframed the mounts. For any big project, perfect usually doesn't happen. We had some scheduling issues with materials where the siding arrived several weeks earlier than the job could start. This prevented me from using the garage for several days, but I think Blyss made up for this by coming out earlier and moving the materials, and assisting with preparing the siding for my roofing work. On the finishing touches, the factory touch-up paint wasn't ordered. Hardie's recommendation is to ensure all cut edges are painted to prevent water intrusion. I was told the crew usually installs the cut edges along the edge of the walls where the caulking would cover it. However, having the painted edges would have been simple peace-of-mind for me longer term in case I have any warranty issues with Hardie. Also, some nail holes were touched up with caulk, or Behr paint, and in some cases, the touch-up spots were somewhat large. Hardie's instructions are to only use Hardie paint for touch-up and should not be any larger than a size of a dime. To Blyss' credit, they sent out a crew to re-touch up the spots with factory paint which did blend in better. One of the reasons I went with the pre-color finish was due to Hardie's 15 year paint warranty. I do have concerns the touch-up will fade much earlier than that. :-( And finally, there were some spots where the joints were butted without enough clearance for expansion contraction resulting in some spots looking slightly buckled. After all is said and done, I would still recommend Blyss. I hope the detailed feedback helps improve the experience for future customers. This company was a nightmare to do business with. They constantly failed to communicate with me regarding their schedule and literally broke into my property on multiple occasions (tore down fencing, lifted gates off of posts , etc). They're more concerned about their work looking good than they are adhering to the manufacturers directions when installing the products which can void the warranty. They cut my hoses, attempted to power wash the house with my pool water, shorted out my electrical system, painted my barn with a sprayer in 30 mph winds resulting in streaks and requiring it to be completely repainted. Replacement fascia boards were warped and had to be replaced after the job was completed by my roofer. They did an incomplete job of wrapping the house prior to the installation of the siding so it had to be completely rewrapped. They didn't paint the footers of the home so they're still the original color which looks terrible. Drove their heavily loaded forklift onto a moist lawn leaving huge divets on the lawn, broke interior drywall (split from the window to the floor) in the master bathroom while reframing the window. They were supposed to leave the extra materials left over from the job on the property for future repairs/replacements but didn't and instead took everything that I had paid for. Their goal is to do everything as quickly and easily as they can so they can go onto the next job. I wouldn't hire this company to do anything on my property ever again and regret choosing them for my project. read more

We interviewed and requested three estimates to replace our siding. Two of the three estimates were at the same total. The key deciding factor for us was Blyss included getting the permit from the city as part of the contract. As we have not completed any renovations before, this was a huge load off our minds. I had a tile roof with lots of trees around that was failing. It was a constant nightmare in trying to keep leaks at bay. I finally made the decision to replace when we had our first rain storm this year (the small one) and I had 5 leaks that I could see in the house. I obtained no less than 5 bids on the roof. It's a big house, lots of valleys and I was so shocked at the first price that I needed to a few to verify that was the cost and to educate myself on all the options. Once I completed that I was ready to sign a contract with another company and Blyss Construction who just finished rebuilding my decks and some interior remodelling and had done a GREAT job said, "We do roofs too if you want us to bid it." I had no idea so had them bid it and they came in at a price a bit lower than midrange. Not the cheapest, but a good price. I knew their work though and I was concerned there was a lot of wood rot under the tiles and at the flashings that I wanted to be sure a contractor would take care of. Long story short, I hired them to do the job and could not have been happier. I get involved in a lot of contruction projects and there are always a few issues that come up. It's how the company handles the issues, communicates them and resolves them that matters. At no time did I have to "argue" or chase them down to get answers. They have great project managers and foremen so all I needed to do was bring it to their attention and it was resolved. No problem. They met or exceeded the warranty offered by the other companies. Their workmanship was above standard and they alerted me to issues that could have been overlooked by a lesser contractor. I can't say enough good about Blyss Construction as a roofing contractor. From here on I will check with them on anything I need done first. I know they will tell me up front if it's not their area of expertise and only take on jobs that they can do quality work on! I can't say enough good things about the job Blyss Construction did installing our fiber-cement siding (Hardie). Due to skyrocketing wood costs, we also chose to go with Hardie trim everywhere as well. We had an issue with our contractor, who halfway through our remodel let us know that he's never installed anything other than wood siding, so time was critical for us. We looked at multiple siding installers, but ended up choosing Blyss due to reviews and their availability. Their quote as also very competitive, which was a nice bonus. After I described our timing issue, they were able to get a crew out within a couple of weeks, and were completely finished with the job (two full stories) in about 10 days. That was faster than several of the other quotes we received. The result is awesome. Everyone who stops by says how great the house looks. And from the outside, the siding and trim are really what they are looking at. The crew was always professional. They cleaned up after themselves every day (which is something we previously thought ALL contractors/subcontractors would do....) and were respectful of our neighbors and start and stop times. They also wanted to check in several times during the job to make sure what they were doing looked good, or if they had questions on the next steps. We even added a couple of small items for them to do towards the end of their job, and they were happy to oblige. We had many (sub)contractors working on our house over the last 9 months, and Blyss is at the top of our list of which ones we would recommend to others. read more
