After receiving both incredible bids for all the work needed, Roman offered many options with color, style, and type of cement board siding! We ended up getting the primer (unpainted) siding and had his paint offer a bid to paint the entire house. This, by far, was the best option for us! We got to pick out our own colors for the siding, trim, eves and front door! Roman coordinated all the work, material for all three contractors and payment to each! Started the job as per our agreement. Showed up everyday as planned. Used good materials. The payment schedule was reasonable and provided me with a more secure feeling because the payments did not get ahead of the completed work. They did not give me a bad time when I told them that the steps and pavers were incorrectly installed. The not so good: Very difficult to communicate with the workers because English is their second language. Rather than having a concrete truck deliver concrete with the correct water to cement mix they mixed all the foundation concrete in a five gallon bucket with initially way too much water. One footing alone required more than thirty 50 lb bags of concrete. I had to force them to mix it correctly, because a wet mix is much weaker than a correct dry mix. They had to redo the steps because they installed them incorrectly as well as the pavers. Only doing so after I discovered the problem. They should have realized the problem without my input. I am a retired contractor and felt that I had to do way too much supervision or else the end result was not going to be good. The project ended up OK but not without a whole lot of my time, input, supervision and a lot of stress. These guys are just starting out and I understand that a new company will have to work out the bugs. If I had to do it again I would have gladly paid more money for a more competent and established company.

One wouldn't even give me a quote without knowing how much I could spend. Cali siding and windows was completely different. Ivan came out to look at our siding. He listened when we explained what we wanted to repair, respectfully made recommendations, walked around the entire house to make sure all repair spots were noted. Their quote was reasonable and included siding and paint. Ivan answered all my questions regarding roof tiles and what would happen if the damage extended beyond the siding. They scheduled the work to start the very next day and Alex and David were on time and friendly. David introduced himself and Alex, and they answered multiple questions I had while they worked. The work itself was top quality. They were careful when removing the old siding to not disturb other parts of the house. They installed the new siding and sealed every joint and nail head before painting. The paint matches perfectly. And they did it all in two days! After they were done they took special care to clean up, picking up every scrap of debris. I've never had contractors clean up after themselves so well. It shows they really care about their customers. I would use Cali Siding and Windows again in a heartbeat.

Five big stars for Blyss Construction…read more Having had our homeowner's insurance cancelled (after 18 years with Travelers - thanks!), we decided to have our sided replaced with Hardie Board. After receiving an astronomical quote from a local contractor, I went to the Hardie website to request bids. Three highly-rated firms reached out to me within 24 hours, and all three came onsite within a week to scope the project and provide an estimate. As they were all recommended by Hardie, I was impressed with the knowledge that each estimator demonstrated. But Alex from Blyss really stood out. He shared knowledge and pictures from projects that were similar to ours. Blyss also had the highest ratings on Google and Yelp. It also helped that his bid was very competitive. Alex was extremely responsive to questions - in fact, one theme with Blyss is that they were lightning-quick to respond to inquiries, day or not, weekdays and weekends. While Alex said that they were running projects about 3 weeks out, I asked whether they could start sooner, given the oncoming "Super El Nino." Alex made it happen - we signed the contract on a Friday and Blyss arrived with a full crew on Monday. I think we got a little lucky, but this became typical of our experience with Blyss. Everybody with whom we engaged was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and aiming to please. The team arrived between 7 AM and 8 AM every day. Every crew member worked hard throughout the day to advance the project. I want to particular call out the Project Manager, Nazar, and his foreman, David. They answered questions knowledgably and made sure that we understood everything about the project. Despite the scale and complexity of the project, they were essentially done in two weeks, coming to finish last touches on a Saturday. When inspecting the work, we came up with a small punchlist of items that we weren't satisfied with. They came out for one final day to complete all of those without any pushback. This is a 5-star experience. The biggest plus for Blyss is the trust they inspired. I never felt at risk of being ripped off or receiving sub-standard work. There were no hidden surprises - just a hardworking, knowledgeable, and affordable company doing great work.
