Southgate Glass installed a beautiful slider in our home. The project included opening a wall and creating a larger space for the window. The slider looks great and was installed in a very clean and professional manner. When we had questions, the service department answered in a timely manner. During construction, the workers were kind, polite and kept a very clean work space. We hardly knew they were there. My father in law is a retired contractor and he even commented on how nice the workmanship was when he saw the project. On top of all of that, we had an issue with the screen door. It was a design flaw by the manufacturer, not Southgate. Nonetheless, Southgate acknowledged the issue and took care of the issue immediately. In an industry filled with companies that don't manage projects or their clients well, Southgate stands above the rest. I will use them again and give my highest recommendation to the business. read more

My boyfriend told me about a wonderful glass place around the corner from where he lives, and we decided that he should take my end table to get glass for it cut there. They told him the glass would be ready in a week, but it took them a month and they never called us to notify us it was ready. We went in to pick it up and they loaded it into our car. When we got home we realized the glass was cut wrong, and the glass didn't even fit on the end table. I known they were aware that it was not fitted right. We took it back to them and they told us it would be ready within a few days, but the week passed and we didn't get a call from them again. He had to go looking for them once again. I am very dissatisfied with the way they do business and feel that it was sneaky of them to give us merchandise knowing that it was not satisfactory. The wait time and follow up call was disappointing. Go elsewhere. We appreciate the apology, but not the inconvenience or excuses. We recently moved into a twenty one year old home that no part had ever been replaced or upgraded. The last item was an inexpensive, rather ordinary shower enclosure installed by the builder. We decided to replace it with a prettier unit and stopped in to Southgate on Walnut to shop. Kyle and Michael were more than helpful in making our selection. I've been doing property management over 30 years. I don't need help, just want good, quick service with no up-selling. I recently relocated out of the bay area and having to re-learn new suppliers for parts and services. I needed a place to get a piece of window glass cut for an old wooden frame. I started with Southgate Glass in spite of curiously 'black and white' reviews, just because they were only three blocks away. Spencer helped me right away, I got my glass with no problems in about ten minutes. This was about as simple as it gets in the glass business, but my experience was fine. Southgate Glass installed a new shower door at my home. They took all the measurements, set an install date and then came out for the installation. They showed up on time and ready to work--sadly you can't say that about everyone anymore. They allowed me to save money by removing my old shower door--which I liked. Other vendors I got quotes for wanted to do the "prep" themselves and charge me 50 bucks! All their office staff and installation crew were super professional and they did give me a cash discount, which is another plus! After the shower door I had them install a new track and wheels on my slider. My slider is some weird brand that I could never find parts for--Southgate did no problem and saved me the cost of a new door. BTW new doors are like a grad PLUS--this cost me 250 and works like NEW! My review is split into 2 parts. Part 1 - Sales: I went into Southgate Glass to buy all new windows and doors last November. I signed a contract with Brian in December and was told it would take 6-7 weeks for the windows and doors to arrive. Christmas, New Years, passed and no word from SG. I called them multiple times to get updated information which was pretty minimal. I called again in MARCH! and was told that my windows and doors would be installed in April. That's 3 months later than I assumed and was told. Not Good. Part 2 - Installation: The crew that came out to my house and installed all of the new windows and doors was stellar! Antonio, Carlos and Aristeo did a great job taking care of all of the details, and they cleaned up inside. We had a big rainstorm on Day 2 and they just rolled with it, but didn't track a lot of dirt into the house. Walk through with Antonio was great - he listened to my questions and went out his way to create a fix for a few of the issues that came up along the way. These guys were excellent and saved my opinion of Southgate Glass. read more

I went to Southgate Glass looking for a new front door for my home. Southgate had a very wide selection of doors for me to consider and I chose a fiberglass double door with a glass insert and painted gray. When the day arrived to install the door the team arrived on time and worked very efficiently to remove the old crappy door and install the new one. They also installed new moldings outside and inside. The new door is gorgeous and seals perfectly. They also installed the new Baldwin door hardware I had purchased separately. I'm extremely happy with the door and the service I received from Southgate Glass. First class company. They kept me well informed every step of the way. Ha ha! No idea about their product but I can tell you about their customer service. They mistakenly got my phone number confused with one of their clients and repeatedly called me for payment. I told them that they got the wrong dude and the wrong phone number but they kept calling over and over again. Honest mistake the first time, borderline harassment after the 10th time. When I finally convinced them that they had the wrong number I was told to expect a few more phone calls until they were all informed in their office. Really weird and super unprofessional. I know that if I do use these guys to pay my bill on time! They will harass the hell out of you if you don't! My boyfriend ordered glass from these guys several days before a project that HAD to be completed over the weekend. The day we were supposed to pick it up, we got a voice mail from Southgate stating that the manufacturer didn't get Southgate's order and there would be a delay. There was no apology or offer to fix the situation, just "have a good day!". Boy was my boyfriend mad! He called and told them to cancel the order and that he would never do business with them again. Later on, Southgate called him back promising that they would go get the glass from somewhere else and do what needed to be done to it so we could pick it up the next day. The next day my boyfriend went to pick up the order and Brian was extremely apologetic - he even gave some extra services/supplies to make up for the inconvenience. Great customer service after an iffy start! The quality of the order was great and we were able to complete our project. The boyfriend is satisfied and says he'll go back! read more

We ordered 2 French doors to replace 2 existing sliders. One of the doors required reframing and we also ordered a dog door to be placed into the wall. The day of installation, when the contractors arrived we were told that only one of our doors had arrived. Had we known ahead of time, we would've rescheduled as we had to place our dogs in boarding and it isn't cheap. The missing door was supposed to arrive later that day and I was called several hours later that it had arrived. At 5pm that same day we were called stating that part of the door was missing. We were told there was still a chance it could come in the following day and we could proceed as scheduled. It wasn't found and we were told it may need to be reordered (another 12 week wait). Luckily, they found it but not in time to complete within the scheduled time frame. So, they had to come out the following week again to install the second door. I emailed our project manager (Jim) and the general manager (Larry) about a credit for the additional dog boarding costs. To date (3 weeks later) I never got a reply from either regarding this issue. Jim did call me and offered to credit the $110 but this wasn't done and when I asked him 1 week ago about this (we paid in full at final installation) I was told he would look into it and get back to me and also send someone out to adjust the passive panel on our bedroom French door. That was 1 week ago and I haven't heard back. At this point, I want no further contact with this company. The contractors were fantastic but communication among the office personnel was awful. I heard multiple excuses during this ordeal including it was because a home show was going on....that Milgard messed up the door order....and that 98% of the time everything works out just not in our case. Very unprofessional. The screen I had repaired was sagging. I had to come back 30 minutes later so they could fix it. Then I get home and see it's 10 inched too wide! I go back and tell them they messed up. I told them I needed it done the same day. He says he didn't have any service guys to do it. Yet then who fixed it the first time? I was just there not one hour ago. The guy just straight lied. That really pissed me off so I left before I lost it. read more

The rep came out to look at our problem window and told me the problem was a warrantied issue. He urged me to call Milgard. He described the problem and gave me all the ID numbers plus the measurements so that I could get a new window. Sadly, Milgard insisted they do their own install so Southgate doesn't get to do this job but I would recommend them and am eager to work with them on future issues. read more

We dropped off the frame for a fireplace door that needed its glass replaced. Their customer service was excellent and BEYOND the call of duty. They offered to let us keep the door frame at their store, and they custom fit and installed the glass panes for us! They offered us a range of prices for different options, and we were able to pick the most affordable one for us (going to convert to a candle garden, so don't need heat resistant glass). We appreciate so much that they offered us these options and allowed us to pick something less expensive but "right for us." Southgate glass then called us politely when the door was ready for pick up. When we picked up from the store, they surprised us by saying they replaced the other pane at no cost! They noticed it had a smudge of dirt/paint on it and wanted the whole door to look nice, so they replaced everything. WOW. What incredible service and a gem of a store in Sacramento. I was recommeded to them by a local contractor. I gave them an impossible task. I needed a pet door cut and installed into a storm door. Every other glass shop said it could not be done. They bent over backwards to help me and they did it! Great customer service above and beyond. The showroom is beautiful, the work very professional and the employees are terrific.
