Okay, let's face it..this place gets a lot of sub-par reviews for service and price. But from my experience, they are extremely knowledgeable and are honest with you upfront about costs, etc etc. The staff used to be rude and arrogant, but lately they have more females who are nicer and actually have people skills, which is great. I recently took my computer in and they said they were a few days behind in repairs, despite this they had it diagnosed in 2 days (they estimated it would be 4) and fixed on the 3rd day after I gave them my approval to do what needed to be done, Simply put, if you know someone great with computers then don't go here, otherwise it's worth it to pay a bit extra to be assured your computer will be fixed properly. I wouldn't, however, recommend buying from them. They are better at repairs, as their prices can be pretty high. Although, once again, if you need an expert's opinion and have the cash, then by all means purchase from this store. read more

Southgate Computers fixed my pricey computer (loaded with design programs)...this is the same computer that Gateway Computer's preferred vendor, ANSWERS BY, told me was not repairable. I had three people waste my time (due to poor communication skills in India) and they charged me a nonrefundable $80. BTW, I contacted my Visa and got my money back. Would never go here again. So, bought a laptop for my niece for Christmas, these guys give a whopping "1-month" warranty on their stuff. Bought it about 3 weeks before Christmas, which gave her a week left when she finally got it. Thing cost me over $200. Looking back I should not even have bought it, but holiday rush and I'm just an uncle what do I know? Now, she sets it up to get right at it, and when she turns it on she realizes the screen is really dim and won't get any brighter even with the settings as high as they can go, I told her she had a week left but she said it wasn't all that bad. Little over a week later (warranty's expired at this point) she found the cord for her MP3 player - she tries to play a song and the left speaker is blown out, rattled horribly. But, the best part of it all is that after about 2 months she gets a message when she turns it on that says "Warning, disk failure imminent, back up your data and replace the hard drive". She looked all over online and there is no simple fix to this, it truly means your hard drive is bad and is going to fail, so now not only does she need a new laptop but I'm sure we're going to have to pay a fortune for some tech to save her old data and put it on the new one. I can see why they only give you 1 month, their used stuff is junk! read more

This place is such a joke.I bought a used computer from here assuming that they would have checked it out for functionality. It was a complete turd with awesome specs for the price, but waited until 2 days after the 1 month return policy was up to crap out on me. I should have known better based on the online reviews. If you know exactly what you want, and just need to buy components this place will work, but if you need to buy a used tube or get repairs please go else where as these people are crooks when it comes to that side of the business. Great staff, very polite. I was building my own PC and couldn't get it to work. PEBMAM! (Problem exists between motherboard and moron.) They took care of it for me though. Didn't charge me much. And when I looked inside I noticed that they used a lot of their own parts to fix it up and didn't charge me any extra. Good people. Some people are saying that their prices are high. I bought a wifi card and I'm sure I could have got it cheaper online, but that's every B&M store. I wanted it that day so I payed a little more. I doubt I could have gotten that part from another store for much cheaper. read more
