Stay away from this company. They resurfaced and re-tiled my pool 30 months ago when I noticed that the bottom of my pool had developed craters. I called SPP and they sent Branden out. His first response was to blame the pool company, stating if the chemicals are unbalanced it could cause delamination. My response was I have had the same pool service for over 15 years and never had an issue until I had my pool resurfaced. Branden replied he never had a leak in his roof until he bought a house. I pressed that it was a bad plaster job and he said he could send the maker of the plaster out (Premix), but they will ask for records of the chemical levels in the pool from the time it was resurfaced. His other option was to place some "turtles or fish" over the craters or resurface the pool again, but we would have to pay half the cost as it is out of the one year warranty. I did some research and while it is true that chemical imbalance can cause delamination to speed up, it takes 6-7 years for that to occur, not 30 months. I emailed Kim about my conversation with Branden and my concerns. She reiterated that they would set up a meeting with their Reps to come look at the pool and apologized for Branden. This was October 20, 2022 and by November 14, after not seeing or hearing from SPP or Premix, I sent another email to Kim about what to do next as it seems Premix will not be standing behind their product. Kim stated she would split the cost of resurfacing, which increased from $3,000 to $4,700 (our half $2,350). At the end of January, they started the resurfacing process and drained the pool. On Feb. 3rd, they came to replaster the pool. My father-in-law and I went out to speak with the crew and it was then I realized there were craters on the wall of the pool as well as the pool floor. When we asked what causes that, they said "bad plaster job". The foreman came appeared at the same time and told them to hush. They applied the bonding coat and when they returned to plaster, the crew found more craters and stopped the job. I was informed on Feb. 6th that they were going to come and strip the pool, remove all of the bonding, plaster etc. and start anew. After breaking some tiles and their plaster truck having to be repaired, the pool was resurfaced on Feb. 21st. SPP was then in charge of curing the pool for the next 30 days. From this point on, we had difficulty getting someone to come and clean the pool. I emailed Kim on March 11 and told her that the guy swiped the pool a few times and left. When we had the pool resurfaced the first time, SPP paid for a pool service to come once a week and clean the pool etc. When I asked why they did not hire a service Kim stated that they pool service they used has a lack of manpower and rise in chemical cost. She told me that brushing the pool makes it look better quicker and I could do that. I told her yes I could, but I paid $500 as part of the contract to have that done. It is a separate line item. She said she would send Branden out to brush the pool. After that, I believe they came one more time and that was it. They did not complete the cure. I asked when they would return to put the salt back in the pool, no response. I also told Kim that the pool surface is not smooth and I would like my money back so I could find another company to resurface the pool. I have left several emails and phone messages, no response. This company is dishonest and once you give them your money they are done. My last email to them was April 4th. I am wondering if they went out of business. read more

This company went above and beyond, and we were incredibly impressed with the knowledge of the owner, who is insured and licensed in pool construction, as well as its experienced salaried employees. Although we feared we'd need to go through the enormous expense of replacing our 30-year-old water line tile, this company's owner was totally honest. "No," she told us. If it were her, she wouldn't replace the tile. Although she said she would clean and touch it up where needed, the tile was completely regrouted, and on completion, the pool looked like new. This company made sure the newly added water was properly treated to avert staining and dramatically revived our pool's circulation, which prior to our resurfacing had been almost non-existent. She kept to a schedule, so workers were at our house almost daily, and personally inspected the bonding and tile before the plaster was added. She even promptly responded to our tons of emailed questions. This is definitely a class company--a rarity in Florida! read more

Southern Pool Plasterers dumped all the partially ground plaster and tile in my back and front yard. They told me they couldn't honor any Warrenty work if I didn't strip down the pool. I had 6 conversations with them about clean up and they strung me along lying about cleaning it up. Neighbors and professionals who come onto my property are appalled, dumbfounded and angered by what this company has done to my property. A final correspondence by mail with pictures, quotes to clean the yard and replace the graand documentation has gotten no response from them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! 3/22/20. I've just read Kim A.'s response to my post. And all I can say is "and yet you did dump the plaster and tile in my front yard and side yard. Tile pieces are still being picked up. I solicited quotes from over a half dozen pool refinishing companies before selecting Southern Pools. Prices were all over the place and many of the contractors planned to sub out most of the work. I found that many planned to use Southern Pools as their subcontractor i.e. to do the actual work, so I figured why not go to the source. I did and was very pleased. The pricing was very fair, the quality of the work exceptional and the experience was effortless. I give them a very high recommendation on "pool refinishing". I did not use them for any mechanical matters related to the pool pump or pool heater. read more

I am very disappointed with Southern Pool Plasterers. First, they incompetently started the job on my pool by applying a thick calcium blocker on the areas where tile was to be placed. The product was too thick in spots, running all over and not applied in other areas that needed it. What's more, the work crew stated they had no experience with the particular product, I was the guinea pig. A few days later they had to remove this product and apply a new one. They left a significant mess after the plaster job. My brick pavers were covered in a white powder/film, there was a mortar like substance staining many pavers, they left filthy gray/white water/powder all over my landscaping, they left rubbish, runoff and debris throughout my front yard. My poolside fencing was filthy. They did not clean some areas around the pool at all. Where they did clean they pressured washed and simply blasted the dirt to areas they did not pressure wash leaving me to spend many hours cleaning up after them. Most importantly, I had white blemish spots in the blue finish of my pool. When my pool contractor raised these issue with them they made excuses, sought delays and were most unresponsive. As the days went on they became threatening. My pool contractor and I spent over 12 hours trying to remediate some of the issues left behind. I pressured washed the pool area three times to no avail. We were forced to brush and acid wash pavers by hand to remove the white film and grime. They returned once clean and addressed a few but nowhere near all the issues. Worse still nobody came to look at the white spots/errors in the plaster finish. They stated they would come, picked a time, and simply did not show up. They did show up unannounced to collect a tank they left behind. These people only care about taking your money, there is no after sales service and clients are treated with wanton indifference. I find this disgraceful and pathetic given the objective issues we faced. I strongly suggest not using this unprofessional company ever. I still have work to do to clean their mess. Ridiculous! And well over a year after I wrote this they responded! That says it all!!! read more

Buyer beware!! I am in the middle of a battle with Southern Pool Plasterers' owner Kim over whether she has any responsibility for shoddy work her company did on our pool before resurfacing it. Tried to reason with her and be fair about the additional expense it cost me to correct the leak problem her company created, but she said "I don't think we are responsible, do what you think you need to do"! it started with there so called electrician i told him i only needed a bulb replaced for my pool light he said he had to replace the whole fixture. once he could not remove the wire to the light he put a new bulb in and it worked just fine i did not need a whole new fixture. then they installed 1 1/2 in pipe over my 3/4 in pipe for the returns and left them sticking out 3 to 4 in from the pool wall. i would of never agreed to that had they told me they were leaving the pipe sticking out 3 to 4 in from the wall the edge of the top stair has a indentation as does the wall under the skimmer. kim the owner came over to pick up the check and they were still working on my pool, they were not even finished. kim also told me all the impurities in the final diamond brite coat would not be noticeable after the pool was filled with water. i have tried since june to get these problems resolved since june 25 kim has given me one excuse after another she has now blocked my text and the office will not return my calls. read more
