Travis worked with us to design a drought-tolerant landscape with a combination of astroturf and xeriscape, as well as limestone paver walkways with black granite and black steel edging to go with the aesthetics of our modern ranch. Our third party inspector noted that many landscape companies do not weld the steel edging to the stakes, but Travis's crew welded all of the connections and the steel seems thicker than what we had at our previous home. We chose Thrive because of other Google reviews combined with our interactions with Travis during the quote and design process. We found the same to be true as other reviewers, which was his crew was very positive, helpful, energetic, and some of the hardest workers on our project. So, we set out to find a "design only" service that could match our vision for this new space, and found Michelle Austen and Red Sun Landscape Design here on Yelp. I'm usually a little wary of businesses that have all 5-star reviews with no negatives listed, because they sometimes turn out to be falsely inflated, or fake reviews that don't match real experience with the company. Our experience with Michelle proved why she has all five star reviews - she's simply great to work with! To echo the other reviews, Michelle met with us on several occasions, taking our input on style, plant preferences, design goals (we wanted to incorporate multiple outdoor living areas, a pergola, and space for a hot tub, among other needs), and installation plans, and then synthesized all of that input into a plan that full matched our desires and expectations. She included a number of practical elements, as well, including a dry creek bed that follows the natural swale in the yard, which should insure that water flowing through the yard will not disturb our finished beds, but also won't prevent water from flowing out of the yard successfully. She kept accurate deadlines, and communicated very well along the way, and provided a good amount of input into efficiently installing the resulting plan. Her final plan includes a number of great details, including the area each bed covers in square feet, the linear foot of edging required, etc, making estimating costs for installation a breeze. However he just vanished and stopped responding to all my texts and emails. I hope everything is ok and it is sad if they actually did go out of business, but the way greg handled this was cowardly and highly unprofessional. I felt it was important I updated my review as a lot has happened to the deck in the 3 years since…read morethey put it in. Though the deck looked good initially in just 3 years it is rotting away and we just now realized to what extent. It got in such a bad state we decided to have someone redo the whole deck. When they took off the top boards the frame itself had half rotted away (including the whole frame for the steps) and we realized it could have caved under us at any time. In the attached picture you will see the current state of the frame. Half of it has rotted away. We initially used them because they were the best price and they did work fast and were flexible to our requests. However, the tradeoff seems to be they used poor material. It was either not pressure treated or leftover material they got from a building being constructed that isn't meant to be used for a deck. I can't confirm but regardless proper material shouldn't rot like this in just 3 years. I write this to warn you to make sure they are not skimping on the materials as this can become a safety hazard.

This is an All-In-One business, Jensen does the design plus runs things, and he is a fortunate blend of talented but also experienced. Just take a peek at their website - those designs are both cool but also thoughtful. We wanted a total backyard redo, including turning a pergola sitting unused in the middle of our yard into an outdoor living room cabana complete with a metal roof and decking flooring. We wanted so much, including but not limited to: ripping out an ugly stone patio off the house's back to replaced it with a roofed over decking floored dining area, then adding an open patio area with metal planters and built in decking bench seating. We wanted landscape lighting, welded metal edged flower beds, more planters, and by the time the project was almost done we added in having them do high quality artificial turf. They had to do wiring, plumb a propane line for a propane fire pit they made out of a huge boulder, roofing, metalwork, decking, planting design and implementation...they reworked and updated our irrigation... It was a lot and they were just amazing at all of it. Jensen cared as much about having everything done right as I did - and I am very picky about quality. And I can proudly say this backyard now looks amazing - like the boutique resort hotel outdoor lounging I was hoping for. We love being in that yard as much as possible now. I cannot recommend Jensen/Red Agave enough, but: five out of five stars all the way! Just absolutely, completely, ...excellent!!

I mentioned that I maybe wanted a fire pit, and he found a way to create an incredible firepit centerpiece with a "floating" boulder.
