Southern Grist is my favorite brewery in town. They have an amazing selection of sours. It's in a quiet spot in the Nations and never gets crazy busy. Fairly priced beer for the high quality that it is, and the beertenders are always willing to give free samples if you're unsure of what to get. They have patio seating outside and always a great vibe.

Great beer and great service! What a wonderful local bar and brewery in a sweet local spot in a tucked away local neighborhood!!!

TLDR - Deer Southern Grist, Keep making the great hazy/NEIPA beers and work on hiring people who don't hate your beer. Yesterday I went to Southern Grist with 3 friends to enjoy some NE IPA's. Yummy. SG has some great hazy beers. Keep up the good brewing. However... As often can happen with customer service, whether good or bad, it can color your experience. The gentleman working that day was unfriendly and clearly doesn't like beer. Not a great front man for the brewery. Serious "wet blanket" vibes and downer. I asked him which of the DDH beers he liked better or some differences between them. His answer went something like this, "I don't like IPA's and all of our beers taste the same". Okee dokee, so glad we drove across town for some crap beer that all tastes the same (Sarcasm. I think the beer is pretty darn good. Customer service - not so much.) We shook it off and enjoyed some delicious beers despite the initial buzzkill.

One of my favorite breweries in Nashville, the vibes here are perfect. The bartender was playing music from our generation that had everybody in a great mood. The beer selection is great, I am not a fan of sours yet all of their sours were actually my favorite. 100k, mosa, and PB&J were all delicious. They have some really awesome merch and a huge selection at that. You can buy 4-6 packs of beer to go as well. The food selection is very slim, just some small snacks so I would suggest eating before if you are hungry for dinner.

Southern Grist is one of my favorite local breweries. They specialize is really unique styles; sours, smoothie-style ales, and IPAs. They have a lot of experimental beers. I guarantee you can find something here that you've never tried anywhere else. I've had the pleasure to check out all the locations and the Nations spot was has a good vibe, especially if you're planning to sit on the patio with nice weather. The inside isn't that spacious with a grouping of six-tops lining the wall. But the bartender was fun and played great music from our generation. All in all, great place to hang with friends, or alone. The beer is always changing so it's worth going back to check it out.

You can find this location of Southern Grist Brewing at 5012 Centennial Blvd, Nashville, TN 37209 - this is the end of a shopping center near Tennessee State University and the Nations area. Parking is out front and somewhat limited, you may be able to park around the edges and on the street (not sure). I was pretty excited to visit one of my favorite Nashville breweries on a recent visit (attended the Brew at the Zoo and checked out about a half-dozen local breweries - this and Barrique were the top 2 others came close). This is a rather unassuming taproom - I believe their production facility is elsewhere. Don't be fooled though as there were about 20 beers available for consumption. I've had friends bring me Southern Grist down to Atlanta for a couple of years - I'm in general a big fan of their sours and stouts but find all their releases good and worth pursuing. The interior of this location is spacious with tables on the left a a taproom bar that extends most of the interior distance on the right - there are monitors that show their current draft selection. I was with a group of 6 people so we all got different flights and managed to taste everything as well as pick up bottles for the road. Service is excellent with knowledgeable staff there to answer your questions - quite friendly. On this occasions I had the following: *[Insert Juicy Pun) NEIPA *Double Fruited Black Currant Raspberry Hill Fruited Sour *Blueberry Banana Pancake Hill Fruited Sour *Mango Coconut Dressed Up Hill Fruited Sour *Premium Bitter *Marshmallow Passion Fruit Raspberry Strawberry Hill Fruited Sour *'Mosa - Mimosa inspired sour *Peanut Butter S'mores Blackberry Hill Fruited Sour *Barrel Aged Cordially Yours Pastry Stout *Turnip the Juice Fruited Sour *2 slushies (Slab Series: Chocolate Almond Double Filled Blackberry Jelly Donut and 'Mosa) The best of the batch was that Double Fruited Black Currant Raspberry Hill to my tastes but I was also a fan of the Barrel Aged Cordially Yours. This is still my favorite Nashville brewery with Barrique a close second. I had a great time and left with a few bottles and cans. Also glad they've reopened their taproom.

Amazing beer!!! SG is our favorite brewery in TN! They make HELLA delicious smoothie sours and hazy IPA's! Since we are moving here from California...this will be our go to brewery! The staff is hella friendly and knowledgeable. If you're thirsty....make your way over to Southern Grist.

Stocking 51 really has everything... coffee, Italian food, Nashville gear, a salon and beer! Southern Grist Brewing was a pit stop during my exploration of Stocking 51. This brewery offers both indoor and outdoor dining and tons of tasty craft beers. I had the southern crisp Pilsner and just enjoyed a quite outdoor patio to myself. This brewery also offers plenty of robust IPAs, and even a beer slushy! I didn't noticed any food options, but I'm sure you can bring food in from the surrounding restaurants. The parking here can be tough, but make sure to check the back lot for extra spaces or get in on that street parking.

I love this bar! I'm gluten free and they have excellent cocktail options for people like me who can't drink beer.

Delicious, delicious, delicious! Southern Grist was great. This location has a nice patio that is dog friendly. They have a good variety of beers on tap. I ordered a flight and enjoyed each style I ordered. Definitely add a stop to Southern Grist.

Wow, I honestly can't believe that I haven't reviewed SG yet, despite going there for many years now. Southern Grist is our favorite brewery and they are just such a fun brewery all around. They brew a large variety of beers, but none are really staples and you sometimes won't see a favorite again for a while. They specialize in Hazy IPAs, sours, pastry stouts, and they've been making a bunch of lagers recently too. They have several different series of beers, including their fruity sour Hill series, which is a favorite of ours. They started out in East Nash, but added the Nations taproom several years ago in an expansion. It has lots of seating inside and outside and there's plentiful parking (park around back for ease of parking). The staff are all super kind and the place is very welcoming to everyone (especially families and pups). We've been to festivals here and they've done a fantastic job organizing them. They were also great all throughout Covid and we always felt safe here. Southern Grist is an amazing company and one of the places that makes Nashville a special place!

Really enjoyed this place. Beers were actually fairly priced and were delicious. I really enjoyed their pilsners. Inside is super nice, but don't pass up sitting outside. It's perfect in the evenings when there's more shade and the heat of the sun isn't as bad. Would definitely go back, had a great time. Good service and they keep it clean

Compliments and Kind Words--their milk stout with peanut butter and Oreos. Dessert in a glass.

We love the Southern Grist location in the Nations. This has become one of my BF's favorite breweries. The is a great mix of beer and they always have new beer on tap. The other day when we were there, he said that if he had friends come to town for a brewery tour, Southern Grist would be the first stop on the tour. The taproom is pretty spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. There is not a kitchen onsite but I do think they have a food truck that serves barbecue. There are about 20 different beers on tap and they also serve cider for the non-beer drinkers. The other night I tried the "Compliments and Kind Words" which is a Milk Stout brewed with Peanut Butter and Oreos. Seriously. Delicious. It was dessert in a glass. I think it would be amazing served over a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The BF loves IPAs and he loved the Insert Juicy Pun. He said it was just a great, no frills IPA. The bartender gave me a sample of Boil the Ocean, which is a sour ale. I am not a fan of sours but gave it a try. It was really good. It tasted like a mimosa. It was not super sour. It was really the sourness of a glass of orange juice--maybe even sweeter than that. Very light. Very drinkable. Looking forward to our next visit to the taproom to see what other delicious beers will be on tap.

Someone bring out Maggie so I can kiss her!!!…read more In all serious, what a gem of a place. Los Angeleno here visiting her dad and we showed up just before 9pm on Christmas Eve-Eve. It was Taco Tuesday and they were doing Buy One Get One Free tacos + $6 margaritas and $4 drafts! You need a f@&%ing time machine to get a deal like that in Los Angeles and even then, it likely wouldn't be half as good as what we had here for the price. Stephanie was a rockstar, super funny and sweet and attentive. We got hella food: - Guacamole ($10) was limey and fresh and delicious - Elote Dip ($12) it was giving chilled esquites but if it were closer to a cowboy-caviar type salad. sooo good. - Chicken Wings ($22) the mesquite rub was a little salty if I'm honest, but the wings were super juicy. We got them grilled! - Caesar salad ($12) tasty, but a lot of dressing. Next time I'd get it on the side! Personal preference. - TACOS! The pastor pork belly was SO good, especially with the pineapple tidbits. The steak, shrimp, and chicken were excellent. My dad loved his cheeseburger taco the best and I thought the fish taco was pretty good (perhaps a touch dry but the slaw and sauce made up for it). Literally no complaints. Each one was better than the last. - Two rounds of sweet, tangy, Tajin-rimmed margaritas. Good god, these were delicious. The place itself is adorable. There's a whole outside yard with sports on, cornhole, and plenty of tables to hang out with friends, family, and I think even your dog (we saw a precious one!). I think they literally turned a house into a restaurant space, and they maintained some of the original elements for a really homey feel. They kept the fireplace, garage door, front porch--the whole place feels cozy and inviting. Lots of TVs for sports fans but it was pretty quiet inside (likely due to the holiday season) and the music was great, too. They were all decorated for Christmas, which I thought was an awesome touch. Big shouts to Ian and to Stephanie for a wonderful experience. I'm so glad this place is less than 10 minutes from my dad's place. I'll be coming back here every time I visit! I hope they stay open for a long, long time.

disclaimer - I only had drinks!…read more Cute stop, tons of outdoor space which was fun! We were able to sit by a heater & enjoy the cool evening. Drinks were tasty! Middle range pricing & fun vibes - they had a Photo Booth inside which I loved! Bartender was fast & kind!
