Almost like candy green beans with hint of cinnamon. Mac & cheese was ok a bit dry. The collard greens had the stems cooked in with it. They didn't riip it apart and separate the leaf and the stems. Was in town on business and this spot was not too far from the BWI area and the reviews were pretty good. I had the whiting, collard greens, potato salad and Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese and potato salad were pretty good. I thought the greens lacked flavor. Now the whiting was a disappointment. Not sure what batter they used but I thought the fish tasted fishy. I know it's fish, but the weird fishy taste I did not care for. Not sure if that makes sense to everyone, but it's the best way I can describe it. Ordered Sunday dinner form here. We had the catfish dinner and the surf and turf dinner. The portions were nice on both orders. The catfish dinner had 2 pieces of fish, yams that were good and collards that has to much of the stalk left in them. The surf and turf came with 2 wings that you could tell had been sitting for awhile, I elected to get the lake trout as my fish. It came with 3 pieces and watch out for the bones :-(, my sides were mac and cheese, I must have received the corner section because it dry and stiff, the potato sald was okay. The decor was simple while almost elegant. The smell of wholesome soul food was amazing. Our first difficulty was forgiving out what to eat. I chose the salmon and my daughter chose ribs. I ordered through a delivery app since I did not feel like driving, I now wish I did takeout instead of paying extra fees plus tip. I got the surf and turf which is two pieces of wings and fried fish, with mac and cheese, cabbage, and collard greens. I did not enjoy any of it. Let's start from worse to less worse. The collards were sweet, too sweet. I don't know what they put in it but I took a few bites and couldn't finish. First time here. Had the cabbage, Mac & cheese and smothered pork chops. Oh, and hush puppies. Pork chops (2) are tender and sit on a bed of rice and gravy, as well as gravy on the chops. Gravy is a little salty. Mac & cheese noodles were a little over cooked but it was good. Cabbage was tender (could've been cooked less as I like cabbage with a little bite). Hush puppies were good, and everything was hot, even when I got home. Couldn't eat it all, so I have dinner. I will definitely be back. BTW, I also had the sweet potato pie. Gave them another chance and was definitely better, I asked for the porkchops to be fried hard and they were, cabbage was a little less mushy and cornbread was good. Don't do it. The portions are small, the food is nasty, and the staff is rude. The scrawniest, driest, most shriveled-up fried fish I have ever seen, and the nastiest I've tasted, too.
